Yes. You go solo usually between about 10-15 hours after you start, then you do solo navigation flights including a 150nm solo cross country before you do your skills test.

Thanks. In the morning she is a bit of a pain, probably because it doesn't have a primer you have to use the throttle a lot. When it doesn't start you never quite know if it's because it's not getting enough fuel or it's flooded Grrrr. Sywell is a great airfield, probably the best one I've been to yet.

Yes, before every flight. I check the flaps, wings, tyres, brakes, stall warner, lights, pitot heat, skin, doors, fuel, oil, windows, engine (not in that order :)

I could see my house from this video 😂 I live very close to sywell aerodrome. The way to find the runway at a distance is by following a busy road which will pretty much line up with it (the A45)

It was a friendly fly past just to say hi, if there were any aircraft in the circuit he would have been made aware of any conflicts. Tatenhill exists within an ATZ which sits inside glass G airspace (uncontrolled) so there are no real limits to how low you can fly (especially in a twin engine aircraft) as long as you're sensible. He appeared to be between about 300-500ft which is acceptable given that he was already over a usable runway. Search google for rules 5 and 6 of the Rules of the Air.

The Cessna fottage was taken with the suction cup on the passenger window as I have run out of 3M sticky pads, although I plan to get more :)

Great video, quick query, do you do a pre flight walkaround like commercial pilots?

Thanks, I'm still using an original GoPro HD.

Hi! May I ask a question? When the Dakota requested he overfly the airfield, as far as I can hear he didn't give his height neither was he asked to fly above a particular height. When he appeared, it seemed that he was extremely low. Is this normal practice or should the pilot have been given a minimum height to fly as he overflew the airfield? Thanks for your advice. Peter

Hi, I see you've flown the Piper Archer as well as the Robin. Which do you prefer/like? I own an Archer, but would love to fly the Robin. Is the Robin easy to fly? Maneuverable? Reasonably fast?

Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated. Cheers for now. Peter.
