I just upgraded from a Hero 3+Black (yea I know it's older than some of you ;) but it worked for me up until now) and got a Hero10 Black (is there any other color?) for $349 + free shipping, SD card... I couldn't pass that up. I researched hours and picked the 10 over the Action 2 mainly because of component modules(battery). The dynamic range is pretty darn good (much better than the 3+). The audio, while ok, still leaves a lot to be desired. The dynamic range of the audio is pretty thin. The horizontal lock with the lens mod is amazing (why can't Nikon, Canon, Sony...do that with their DSLRs? :/) Low Light is actually pretty good. I'm not sure what people are complaining about. The only issue I have is that the shutter speed gets pretty slow, so if you move in anything but a smooth way you're going to see some motion/shutter drag. While battery replacements don't break the bank, the stock battery life is abysmal so you'll need a few for sure. I'm researching (micro) power bricks with the pass through door (any suggestions) because I need at least 60+ minutes shoot time. Not including the remote is pretty cheap IMHO but hey, I got a pretty good deal. I've only been using it for a week and have a lot more testing to do before I put it into my work repertoire but our initial tests indicate it's a "winner". Great review.

Its been ten years since I own a Gopro. Thanks for the update. There were issues years back when using these cameras underwater the waterproof case made image blur. There were aftermarket gadgets by other companies that resolved the issue. I wonder if gopro fixed this problem. Also the rubber ring washer on underwater cases would dry out and shrink and thus compromise the water tightness of the case with bad results.

Great fast pace video covering all the features. - what about heating up point in high res . - what about hanging issue , I have seen in 8, hope we don’t have to pull out the batter any more. - don’t like the max LensMod is not supported on the camera. - also don’t like the camera cannot take video/picture out of the box, and need FW update. - Like the touch responsiveness 👍 - like increased frame rate and re like 4K 120 Super excited 👍 - like the Battery is same as hERO 9 👍 I have couple of HERO9 , and buying a hero 10 is sounds worth .. I've discarded 3 my GoPro generations in hope of the freezing would be better in each generation, but I was wrong. Any features aren't usable when it heat up and freeze to the point that unusable. I live in hot climate though. Seeing many review videos and no mentioning about this, I guest I won't risk again with GP.

I have the 7 and the freezing/lock-up/heat issue drives me insane. Very tempting with all these new features but if the camera locks up then you will not be able to use any of them and will miss that footage. I'm tired with pulling out the battery for a hard reset. GoPro - let me know when you solve these issues and I will buy another version. Otherwise, don't bother making yearly update. I won't throw my $ away for useless tech.

Thanks - much appreciated! No overheating in my real-world testing outdoors over the last month. I've been doing a bunch of non-real-world testing (leaving it on a desk indoors) to see what happens. I'll have about 20 different data points, likely tomorrow sometime. In short, if you use your action cam for action, you won't have a problem. If you use it indoors on a desk at 5K/60, you'll have a problem. Cheers!

Great video! I recently got two GoPro Hero 10 Black's to use for kayak fishing and biking videos. I'm thoroughly impressed with the video and photo quality from them. I just wish they could make some improvements in battery life. Even the newer "Enduro" batteries don't show much improvement over the stock batteries.

Zero Hero 10 lockups to date. Some Hero 9 lockups during that time. I find there's a strong correlation between how full an SD card is, but GoPro also hinted that the GP2 chipset gives them far better tolerances for performance (an thus, stability).

Sounds like possibly a pre-release model and/or early firmware issue for TechChap. While he didn't say where it was overheating, if inside and static as pointed out by GoPro not recommending, this is not my use case scenario and have always used my GoPro for outdoor activities like skiing and cycling. Perhaps it could be resolved with a firmware fix, hopefully other early users/reviewers can comment if this is the case.
