Interesting 🤔 I think the best settings are different depending on the type of content one shoots. My default setting now is 60fps, cause that allows me to slow down the footage to make it more "cinematic" and also compensate for the sometimes not so great Hypersmooth stabilization like you mentioned. I think shooting with a gimbal or tripod kinda defeats the purpose of a GoPro, being a tiny and easy to always have with you camera. Of course it depends on the situation and what you are shooting, sometimes i do put it on a tripod or use a gimbal. My point is, when i started out on my GoPro journey, my default setting was 30fps as well and i only used higher fps if i knew in the moment i am shooting something that i'd like to slow down later and i totally regretted that tactic😫. When i actually learned video editing and wanted to make something out of these older videos, i wanted to slow down a lot of that footage only to realize i had shot it in 30fps😆. So for me 60 fps is the sweet spot now 😅

I absolutely understand what you describe. Personally, I like the option of being able to shift the angle of view afterwards. Also, the reason why I bought the camera is another one than you might think. In the future, the secret will be revealed. Thanks for your interesting comment!

Very good, congratulations on the video. I have a GoPro 10 and I bought a GoPro 12 with the intention of improving the quality of my videos through the HDR function. I wear the GoPro on my head, fixed to the support, inside the car. I make videos at high speed. I only record during the day, between 10 am and 2 pm, with the sky clear or cloudy, so the lighting is good. I want to offer great resolution in my videos, I saw that you posted an 8k video with the GoPro 11, and I intend to do the same. Using your tips, I configured the GoPro 12 in HDR mode, 16:9, 4K, 60fps, wide lens, hypersmooth: autoboost, sharpness: high, color: vibrant. And I'm going to start recording like this. Would you change any settings? As for 8k, is it just exportable in 8k, through Davinci?

Thank you! The HDR mode is not so useful in my opinion because it is not really HDR! It is SDR with a good dynamic range. In order not to have to do any post-processing in DaVinci Resolve or any other software, the "hdr" mode can help. 8K can be exported from many programs, not only DaVinci Resolve.

Are you using some sort of upscaling or resolution enchancement in post? Like Topaz Video AI?

For upscaling I only use DaVinci Resolve.

@@synthsforbreakfast I do the upscaling because a file with a higher resolution has a higher bitrate. Especially for KZbin this is important. For example, I would also always recommend upscaling Full HD shots to 4K, because 4K videos on KZbin have a better codec that compresses the video less. Also, I don't like to throw away pixels that were actually captured. I would recommend 4K because the quality to file size ratio is best for KZbin.

What do you think about the new Labs firmware? (released in March) We can shoot now in WIDE color gamut which should help the HDR workflow, or? From GoPro: This offers a color gamut like setting white balance to Native (wider gamut), while enabling auto whitebalance, or user controlled whitebalance. With WIDE off (0 - the default), the camera saturates color to the Rec709 gamut (basically sRGB), so some extreme real-world color saturations are clipped by the gamut. With WIDE=1, the gamut is sensor native, not Rec709, not Rec2020, just what the sensor sees.

Just got my New ebay purchased GP11 & in main screen only shows 4K30fps,shouldnt it be 5.3 30fps ,when I tap on the 4K 30 theres no 5.3 30 fps that shows,not familar with all settings,my first Gopro ?

Hi. Are you really sure it's the GoPro 11? Actually, the 5.3 K option should be available. Maybe you need to update the GoPro to the latest software. I am not sure.

Yeh,I did update it,def its a GP11,I just got an Akaso 7LE also which is much easier to use,Im getting familar with the GP11 & have xtra batteries charging,wonder if I have to change something in settings

Update:I wasnt familar with the settings & I found out that you can change the setting that appears in the main screen,it was set with 4K so I went in & changed it which you cant do with the Akaso,I think I have it all down now,thanx

@@davidsilberhorn Yeh I did the update,seems like for whatever reason the 60 fps wouldnt take in 5.3 & 5:7 icon was missing,so I went into reset & that solved everything,I watched every 11 vid & now have evrything down,much more to adjust in Pro mode compared to the Akaso 7LE I just got also..so basically anyone reading this & have a problem just reset,just make sure you remove pics & vids off the card

I can only advise you to film in very good lighting conditions. Especially with GoPro Labs you can improve the GoPro videos extremely. I also have a tutorial on this topic on my channel!
