I just bought a pre-owned GP 8 for one purpose, which is to try and document a few special MC rides while I still can. I had NO idea how complex these are. This tutorial is absolutely fantastic! I'd be willing to buy a quick settings guide with this info, which would save me from either taking numerous screenshots or attempting to keep notes. Neither of which is a realistic solution. At my age trying to remember this is not an option. Had I not seen this, it's quite likely this would have either eventually gone in the box with all the other cameras I got very little use of, or put for sale. I so regret not having this technology available for the few times the wife and I did some very risky ocean kayaking with 13' Feathercraft's with homemade sails. THANKS SO MUCH!

Nicely done. slowly step by step. Most of the professors are not highly educated and don't know how to teach people. when I was a student Japanese or British professors and instructors were experts to give their knowledge to the students that don't need 2nd time to repeat it. why KZbin professors do not make algorithms for how to set up step-by-step and give the audience a copy that can be printed out and kept with it during practice.

Hi thanks for making this video. I’ve struggled to find meaningful videos on YT for my GP Hero 9 that explain the various user settings like you did. So, for that I want to say thank you! The time-laps is my favorite so far and it works me. I couldn't be happier. The only issue am still experiencing is the poor video quality when recording while driving. I mount the GoPro on the windshield (inside the car) and I don't know if it's because the vehicle is in motion and am recording through the windshield but the cars, people walking, dogs etc. don’t seem to have that smooth look, you know like in real life. The videos appear to have some sort of a stutter (if that makes sense). I even tried mounting the camera outside the car and I still getting the same not-so-smooth video quality. The picture quality is great though. For reference, my latest settings are: RES/FPS = 2.7K|60, Lens = Linear+HL , HyperSmooth = High, Zoom = 1.0x PROTUNE: Bitrate = High, Shutter =Auto, EV Comp = -0.5 White Balance = Auto ISO Min = 100, ISO Max = 800 Sharpness = Medium Color = GoPro Raw Audio = Off Wind = Auto I’ve messed with the RES/FPS settings and I’ve since tried different combinations of1080/4K with 60, 30 or 24 fps but nothing seems to be working. I know it possible to get quality videos from this little camera. Am not looking to do any post-editing whatsoever. Am using a SanDisk Extreme 256 GB A2 storage card and don’t have any issues with it. I just need to play the videos back on my computer or TV after a trip to the store or out of town. Can someone share what settings work for on-the-road recording? Thanks in advance.
@GreatDayForAHike2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback and your question. If this is only happening when recording with the GoPro mounted on a car then this could possibly relate to Hypersmooth being set to high. I recommend testing two different changes to this setting. First, change Hypersmooth to Standard and try recording on the car to see if this fixes the issue. If this doesn’t, try turning Hypersmooth off entirely while it is mounted in the car and see if this fixes the issue.
@Beez1872 жыл бұрын

5.3K looks absolutely incredible on a good screen. Personally I’d only use it for very short cinematic shots, or shots intended to be appealing where resolution really shines, like landscapes, or portraits. Other than that everything els should be 4K. Also because it’s incredibly difficult for most computers to play back 4K in the studio.
@GreatDayForAHike Жыл бұрын
Yes, I like to film in 5.3K and export it as 4K. The HEVC codec is indeed quite demanding. Once I have edited and exported the 5.3K as 4K H.264 the footage will play much easier and on most devices.

Were you using the Hero 10 or a different model? Of course, for the very best results possible I still recommend shooting in RAW on the GoPro and then editing the photo but this video is focused on how to get the best results without needing to edit.
