It's a little difficult without editing software but try change the color mode to saturated, with iso set to 100/200 in sunny condition!

it's a little hit and miss but it's better than the old gopro models± The hero 11 will pick up dolphin cries and whale songs pretty clearly!! I have some example clips up on my insta using the audio from the hero 11!

@@RyutaOg Nice I will check them out! I know it sounds odd but I'm planning on doing an underwater acoustic video and I'm just trying to figure out the best way to film / record everything! Do you think if someone was singing underwater at a high volume, it would sounds alright? Obviously it will be bubbly and muffled as you would expect, but Im just curious how it would sound lol. Thanks for the great video. You mentioned you used the GoPro Shorty Mini Extension Pole Tripod underwater. Would cleaning be a problem since it is not designed for underwater?

Nice video. The one setting you missed listing was Sharpness - did you set at Low or Medium, and did you apply any sharpness in Post?

Thanks for letting me know! I completely forgot to add that. I have it set on Medium and add a little sharpness in some of the videos. I also lower the sharpness in a few of the videos to add a dreamy look to it!

Hey Canberk! Thanks for watching! I recommend the hero 11 for above water use as well:) Will put up a video on that at some point as well! It can record over 30 minutes in my first hand experience. Much longer depending on the settings and conditions! It doesn't need a housing as long as you don't go over 10 metres±!

I didn't use any lights at all! I stayed pretty shallow so that the sunlight reaches the turtle. I'm working on a video with just the sea turtle videos and nice music :)

I just bought a Hero 11 which I'm going to take with me to the Philippines for scuba diving. I'm not interested in doing any color post-processing adjustments. Do you think I should purchase a red filter? I'm reading some reviews which suggest that I can just adjust the white balance before the dive and avoid using red filters at all.

I think it depends on the depth too! If ur planning to go more than 10m i would probably get a filter! If ur close to the surface with plenty of light, theres not too muc need for a filter. The problem with underwater footage is that the amount of red light changes with depth! Thats why its usually recommended to color correct in post.

@@RyutaOg thanks for replying. I think I’m gonna try no filter and see how it goes. Maybe I’ll play with some different white balances. Some of my dives will be 30m. Perhaps I’ll try dive+ as well, looks pretty easy for post correction.

@@bfwolf yeah id recommend playing around with the settings. At 30m ur not going to have much light so id increase the Iso max to 800 or so too!

Hey Ryuta, it’s my first GoPro cam and I’m very unsure to use it without any cover or security box for snorkelling. Other cams I used before came with special containers or waterproof boxes. Did you shoot the video with any other gear than the handbar? Cheers from Germany, Michael

Hey Michael! I personally filmed this video without any housing at all! Just the handgrip. However, you have to really make sure the battery compartment/lens is closed properly. Any dust or other small things getting clamped in the battery door can be a source of water leakage. You also have to clean the gopro properly after using in the ocean otherwise salt will build up on your gopro. There are underwater cases available for the gopro so I would recommend using one if ur worried! Also if ur diving down over 10meters then ur gonna need a case either way. The gopro is only water proof till a certain depth rating!

@@RyutaOg yeah I agree. The underwater housings are fairly cheap and worth using. Also I’m pretty hard on my camera since I do a lot of shallow fresh water snorkeling. Always bumping on rocks and stuff. My hero 8 doesn’t have a removable lens so it’s important for keeping it from getting scratched. Hoping to get a hero 11 this summer when I get back in the water tho.

Hey Joda! Sorry for the late reply, I personally like the native color on the hero 11 but I think it's just preference! As long as ur not using auto white balance, most settings will work!

I commonly shoot footage at 100-250ft depth. Any suggestions for getting the most out of the color settings? I use adobe for the post production stuff.

Shoot in 10 bit colour with flat or natural colour settings! That would allow you to get the most dynamic range and will be easier to grade!

Its 5k and 60 frames per second! Should be able to find it in the hero 11 settings menu!
