GoPro Hero 7 Time Warp vs. Insta360 One X: best and easiest ways to hyperlapse

I just ordered the Insta360 one X for Black Friday. I have been watching every video about the camera that I can find. Up to now I just wanted to keep things simple and add 360s to my YT videos. But hyperlapse seems like an effect I would try as well. 👍 to this video, and I subscribed.

Thanks Fabian! So far, the most recent updates have made it easier to use the Insta360 One X. As for image quality, the One X has similar detail as before but here are the improvements: 1. compared to the prerelease beta firmware, the release firmware has much better stabilization. 2. There is also now an HDR video mode, and it really does increase the dynamic range tremendously. 3. Also, One X videos can be imported directly into Premiere, which reduces one step of compression, and results in better dynamic range.

It's not only the easiest, but you can also do effects that you can't do with other cameras (like getting a 3rd person view or panning smoothly in any direction). FYI the One X is good for drones because you can concentrate on flying and you can pan *smoothly* in any direction afterward, or even show 2 or more different directions at the same time. (I tested it out on Mavic Pro 1 with a mount from djimounts.com ). Great video Mic, you are getting very good at putting these together. The tempo has picked up which keeps the viewer engrossed. It is easy to see that you really enjoy your work. As for the Insta360 OneX, it is simply the best camera with the best mobile app and the best post processing features. I have just sold my Fusion and I don't use the Insta One or the MiSphere anymore, they can't do anything better than the OneX so why use them. I even use the OneX on my Mavic 2 Pro drone and the footage when viewed through the Oculus Go is not far off the quality of the Insta360 Pro 2. Best of all is that it is so slim and light I can carry it everywhere.

EXACTLY, (the swapping cameras bit) since I am using the ONE so much, I knew it would come in handy to have a second when the battery goes out and I am in the middle of a zipline course or somewhere else where I can't recharge due to time or situation. Another reason to get the ONE X- swap batteries!!

So, I have been going back and forth in emails with Insta360. This morning I see this-"The ONE X is the new arriving product, and there is no discount for it now. Sorry to any inconvenience caused to you." This was because I was hoping that for the holiday sales it came with the extended stick. Here is my reply- No problem. I understand. (Jokingly) How about a special price for a loyal customer. Since I bought my ONE, I have quickly fallen in love with 360 video. I now own 2 of the ONE model, a Nano S, 3 sticks, 2 dive housings, and will soon be buying the ONE X and upwards of close to $400 worth of accessories. I have used my ONE a great deal but so far have only posted two 360 videos on my KZbin channel. (Pete R is the channel name) One video is a zipline video and one is a 360 walking tour of a resort I go to in Jamaica. I do a lot of day trips ziplining and rafting and other things and I am constantly promoting your camera. Most people have never heard of 360 and as I show them on my iPhone what it can do, they are blown away. Then I give them a sales pitch about how it does so much compared to a GoPro Fusion but is only a fraction of the price. It gets others very interested. It is really meaningful when you realize that I am a diehard GoPro user and fan. I own almost 30 GoPros and just bought the new Hero 7 two days ago. You should at least be giving a great deal of thanks to KZbinr Mic Ty and his channel 360Rumors. Let him know you genuinely appreciate all of his efforts and have proof that he is helping to get your product out there. His videos truly sold me on your product. I will directly attribute my purchases to his influence.

Thank you very much Brian! The benefit of the One X over the Mi Sphere is in the 360 video (stabilization, detail, dynamic range) and the editing capability. In terms of photo quality, it's almost the same as Mi Sphere, but it does have built-in HDR, which is faster to use than Mi Sphere bracketing. I hope this helps! Hi Brian. In my opinion, Hero 7's advantage is that it is rugged. As for osmo pocket, if someone else will be shooting videos of you, Osmo pocket will give you more detail. If you are holding the camera yourself, one X will give you a 3rd person view, as if there was an invisible flying camera following you, and will let you focus on skating instead of aiming the camera.

Hi Pete! The 2nd generation invisible selfie stick is not the same as the extended selfie stick. The 2nd gen invisible selfie stick is like the 1st gen invisible selfie stick except the tip is narrower so that the stick will be invisible to thinner cameras such as the One X, Theta, or Mi Sphere. I will testify that because of your reviews I have purchased 2 of the ONE cameras, a Nano S, and now will be buying the ONE X with a bunch of accessories. Let them know that everywhere I go (ziplining, rafting, etc), I am showing off my 360 cameras and so many people have never heard of them and are blown away by what they can do when I playback video on my iPhone. I always give a quick 'sales pitch' about how my ONE does so much of what a Fusion does and is lighter and MUCH LESS expensive. I am proselytizing and trying to get the word (and vision!) out.

I'm on vacation, people ask questions, and when they see it on my phone they're amazed. This is why i truly believe there is a bright future for 360 cameras. The problem is that when 360 cameras began, they could not do most of what we see today, and people thought that 360 cameras were only good for 360 photos and videos. That's why i'm pushing the message that a better term for a 360 camera is a 3pv camera, because it conveys what i think is their most useful capability (which is not apparent at first glance). I think it is cool and I want a Insta360 One X, but I also think it is unfair to fall it "hyperlapse", a good hyperlapse was made with a tripod so the camera was fixed in height and it did often aim at one point, is was also made so slow that folk and cars seldom where in more than two shots. I would rather see that it was caller "motion warp" or "Hyper shift" just to say it is made from a video. Hyperlapse come from Timelapse that is single images sat together to make a video, the hyper come from that you also move the camera between each shot, when you do the same with a video you get videos that look different. Please don't misunderstand me, I love what "One X" do and it is therefore I want one, I love the result you get, and I also love the real classical hyperlapses, I just wish there was two different names for they are made with two different techniques.

I got the GoPro 7 a few weeks ago and then found out about the inst360 one x which I've since also ordered..I have about a week or so to return the GoPro 7.. what's your option? Do I even need the GoPro with the insta 360 one x offering so many more creative options and maybe I could get the osmo pocket for less money instead of the GoPro? Hey there Justin! First off, congrats on getting the One X! Yes I think the One X and Hero 7 overlap, especially if you have the venture case or dive case for the One X, and yes the Osmo Pocket is also a good option. I actually posted a comparison between them here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYKnhmVqd6p9iqM The only times when I use the Hero7 instead of One X are when I'm sure I don't need the One X's creative angles, such as when I'm only doing a talking head video. In those cases, then Hero 7 will be faster to edit and will have better image quality. I also like that the Hero7 has a microphone adapter, although if you have an external microphone, it's not a big deal. As for the Osmo Pocket, I think it is definitely a good option and has the best image quality among the three. The issue is that its field of view is narrow compared to the Hero7 or One X (~26mm, similar to a smartphone FOV), so you have to be able to aim it. So mostly I use the Osmo Pocket to complement the One X (for shooting b-rolls and for talking head videos). I hope this clarifies it a bit!

(I also have a Sony rx100 mk v compact point and shoot which will look better than the osmo pocket (better bokeh, autofocus and slow motion options) but no gimbal and bigger though it has some eis..I can record audio externally to a lav mic and sync in post though I understand the osmo pocket may be coming out with a usb directional mic and I do have the rode video micro for the GoPro if I stick with that and got the expensive audio adapter and cage..

I actually got another one as well called Removu K1. It has many features that the Osmo Pocket doesn't have, including a mic jack, but the K1 doesn't have tracking. Re RX100 it will be useful for its longer focal lengths. Personally if i had to choose between osmo pocket and gopro hero, I would choose osmo pocket (or removu k1) unless i need to use it in rugged environments.. I'm going to have a new comparison (that includes the K1 in a few days)

Looking forward to see more about the Insta360 One X. Maybe some still footages...like holiday video or cinematic video. Not "action"videos. There are only actionshots out there. But 99% using a cam in normal ways...just filming / vlogging for youtube. For example... what is possible in post production? Maybe degrease the fisheye. Colorgrading, and so on... Carpe Diem wow dankeschön! I am honored. As for One X on android it works pretty well. I use samsung s8 as my primary phone and i use it with one x all the time. It takes several seconds to connect and sometimes i have to restart the app to connect but it works. On my iphone the connection seems more predictable but otherwise the functions are about the same. Android is missing video editing while ios is missing a tiny planet animation called spinview. Yes you are right 95% of people will use it for everyday shots. I do too! And it works very well. Actually my wife is a 360 camera skeptic and the one x is the first camera that she actually liked (image quality and form factor) 😂 Anyway i have some more videos planned that will be useful for everyone, not just extreme action guys 😁 Talk to you later my friend!

The 360 camera seems really good. But you probably need a much better computer to be able to edit it, right? The third person effect is also amazing and quite cool. Hi Araujot! To edit One X at full resolution, you need at least GTX 750 Ti graphics card. If you don't have a graphics card, it will take very very long to stitch. In addition, to convert to non-360 on Premiere, you also need a graphics card. I hope you don't mind, i took a look at your channel. You have nice videos if I may say so! I honestly believe a 3pv camera would be fantastic for you, especially since you yourself can be included in the shot with your kids (if you want). Unfortunately, I just bought a hero 7 (and I am happy with it) so I don't think my wife would be happy about another camera soon :). My editing computer would also probably not be able to cope with the requirements, so that would be another cost. Thanks also for the kind words about my videos. Your idea about a 360 camera putting me in the video was something I didn't realize, but it would be good as I do think we have some nice videos to watch in the future but I am never in any of them! It is true I am not as cute as the kids... but it would be nice to be part of the stories. :) I have a couple of old cameras I don't use nowadays, so I will be trying to sell them so I get the money to try a 360 camera. As for me, I also have two kids who are not much older than yours, and the reason I use a 3pv camera is because they need to see me too. If you use Premiere Pro, you can change Time interpolation to "Frame blending" which creates this blur effect for you. After you speed up your footage to create fast motion or hyperlapse video, you get a similar result. :)

One x has a lot of fisheye effect, and the resolution seems like 480p. Hero7 has lot less distortion, more stable , looks sharper and more professional. Probably one x is good for social media casual uploads. Hero 7 more for pros

* * Have you experienced any issues with the audio falling out of sync? * * I'm working with Insta360 One X's tech support & I think what i'm experiencing is an app issue and not a hardware issue. . I recorded a 15 min interview, then using my ipad pro i applied ViewFinder in the Insta360 One X app's FreeCapture approx 10 times throughout the majority of the clip. I optimized stitching and had FlowState Stabilization selected from within the app. I exported as "FixFrame" to create a 1920x1080 (16:9) video. Upon playback at approx 6-7 mins into the video the audio slips and by the end of the video the words are not in sync with the mouths of the people talking. I've asked in Facebook but no other user's have conducted a similar test. (So far, tech support said it's "complicated" and they'll get back to me)

Hi Genuine Article! When I first got the camera before it was publicly released, the beta version did have audio sync issues but those were fixed in one of the first firmware updates. What FW version are you running? In the app, check the settings (gear icon) on the bottom right. if there's a red dot, that means that there's either a firmware update or app update available. Tap on it, scroll down to About Insta360 and tap that. Then tap on whatever needs updating. After updating, rerun the test.

You can't really compare a Insta 360 camera to a Gopr Hero 7 with a wide FOV. The Insta 360 One X compares to Gopr Fusion 360. The Insta 360 One X is better than the Gopro 360 camera. And the workflow in the mobile app is 400%better than Gopro

Thanks daghrb6! It is true that the FOV between them is quite different. In this case I'm comparing them only for their hyperlapse capability. I agree the One X mobile workflow is waaaaaaay better than Fusion! :D

@@360vroomers Saw your comparison between Insta360 One X and Gopro Fusion, all of your 40points :-) Great video mate. I wouldn't have critiqued If I knew that was out! Subscribed now BTW!! ..but you didn't mention the GoPro Fusion workflow that much. Has It changed with updates? (heard It was a 5hour job of processing for 30minutes of video when It came out)
