Switching to a different USB seems to have worked for a few people who were having trouble according to the comments. I had to switch to a different USB cable to get it to work with an older Hero2 camera I have.

Believe it or not, I repeated the whole process on an older computer and it worked flawlessly. I think it might have to do with the type of USB port, because on the older computer, the program failed and asked that I use a different USB port. When I did that it was quick and easy.

The remote updates wirelessly, not through a direct USB connection - you connect the WiFi BacPac to the computer and that should allow the cineform software to update the Remote.

Not yet, it will be once they get around to releasing the software - their website just says the fall for when that will happen.

With everything turned off, try connecting the wifi bapac to the camera. Turn on the wifi bacpac (leave the camera off). Then turn on the remote - which should turn on the Camera.

I had the same problem. Turning off all of my firewalls, virus protection and the like (temporarily, of course) allowed it to work fine.

Still having issues? Make sure that the bacpac is plugged into a USB 2.0 port... NOT a usb 3.0 port. Randomly figured this out when I had issues... my alienware has 2 usb 3.0 ports and 1 usb 2.0 (glad it does now that this occured). Once I moved it to that port all was well.

Remote is waterproof to "10 feet / 3 meters" according to the manual.

Hopefully someone else has an answer because I have no idea. I'd just double check that everything shows up in cineform as being up to date and make sure everything is fully charged.

Per the GoPro website streaming isn't available yet and will be enabled with a firmware upgrade.

I'd reboot the computer and try a different USB port and Cable if possible. The Software and or Cameras seem to be a bit temperamental.

Will the camera record photos or video to the card? You might want to try formatting the card using the camera (Go to the Delete icon in the menu, select it and then the format option comes up). If that doesnt work try another card just for the update. You card isnt a Sandisk Extreme by any chance is it? Had my first "No SD card" error last month with one in my Nikon camera.

No, but that is probably because I updated the camera already via the SD card and camera method.

I'm not sure if that connects via Bluetooth or an adhoc WiFi - but it works anywhere.

hi good video! the wifi bacpac needs a wifi network to work or the connection between remote controller and camera is using an ad-hoc wifi network?

I have the older "Original" HD Hero - and Cineform does not recognize it - only the Hero2.

The remote does not come with the Camera, you have to buy the WiFi BacPac separately.

I have been trying for days to get my remote to pair with the Bacpac and the camera but without success. I downloaded GoPro Cineform but when I attach the camera etc it does nothing at all. It doesn't ask if I want to update, nothing.

Im having a problem with the remote... when I'm at the device window the remote says I have to update the wifi bacpac first before updating the remote but it says that I already have the latest firmware for the pacbac so its not letting me update the remote, which then isn't letting me connect to the camera. Any advice?

I have an HD Hero (not the HD Hero 2) and I get to the part where the back pack firmware downloads, but the installation process starts and never makes any progress - I even left it "running" overnight. Any suggestions?

how come when i update the camera an error message appears saying make sure there is an sd card it the camera and it has ample free space, When there is a sd card and the 32gb of space isnt taken up?

i update both bacpac and remote and it said they where connected and i turn the bacpac on connect it to the camera and then turn the remote on and they will not connect the remot just keeps showing the signal sign!!... any ideas how to fix it

How come I have the GoPro Original, so the remote never connects to the computer? This is really annoying, I have spent two hours trying to fix this.

Please change title. It is HERO 2 and those of us who have Original HERO are not helped as the process is much different especially with menu settings on the camera. No it does not pair out of the box even after firmware update (success). The manual from GoPro sucks and has errors (things they say in it are untrue and/or incomplete for original HERO).
