@4:40 im specifically looking at the sky, the blue building to the right, the reflection in the windows on the other building and the grass. I cant get over how much better the colors look on the 8. When youre vlogging the 12 clearly wins, but on the landscape shot the 8 takes it. Thanks for the great video

Yep, I have the hero 8, record everything in flat color profile and just color grade/adjust stuff in post, makes a world of difference. I do like the 10bit color mode in the 12 though, and the fact it has built in HDR mode etc, but its not a selling point for me.

Hero 12, huge problems at 7:05. Keep watching the video , you can see the buildings straight lines start to curve near edge of screen, sort of like a fisheye lens effect from the wide field of view. The "dark footage" is not dark, really doesn't do too well as you go into the evening. DJI Action 4 has proven to be better in those areas I really wanted the Hero but can't unsee those problems.

Audio cut at 4:38 from 12 to 8, you can hear more background noise with the 8. Not an issue as for me I would prefer to hear more background noise especially for outdoor videos. Some might not be a fan of that so it’s a win win for either person imo.

Maybe not too fair a comparison for a first impression, the Hero 8 is being shot in morning light and the Hero 12 is during more sharp daylight, which is less flattering in terms of colour. I think the wind canceling is a lot better on the 12 and it looks a fair bit sharper and less mushy.

I could swear that when gopro 8 came out, the differences from the previous one were the same. But now comparing the gopro 7 and gopro 8 in terms of picture quality, they are the same. Do they purposely lowering the quality of the new camera on purpose? No way! Wait a minute....

Many... They have shortcomings but their ecosystem of aftermarket support and GoPro color is better.. raw logs as well.. drone flyers . I have 4 black .. 5 session 7 black.. no need to upgrade to hero 13 much less DJI or insta 360... I avoided the issues of 9-11.. my 7 black has better color than the newest insta and DJI..
