I wonder how much more altitude could be achieved by fitting a pressure release valve, that slowly let excess pressure out as it got close to the balloon's limit, to keep the balloon from breaking as it got close to its otherwise max. I wonder if it would eventually find an equilibrium, and stay up for too long, and become unrecoverable, as the batteries die.

Reading the description and doing some Google Mapping, I found that they launched from these coordinates (42°54'30.4"N 77°16'19.6"W). You'll see the fields, shed, and paths seen on the drone footage as the balloon goes up. Unfortunately, "over the Finger Lakes region of New York and landed southwest of Syracuse, NY" isn't specific enough, but gives us enough information to know it traveled somewhere between the range of 44-56 miles.

I’m also working on a High Altitude Ballon project and the gopros (they’re GoPro 3+) directly facing the sun shuts down by itself only 30 min into the flight. We’re guessing that the heat from sun has to do with this, but wondering if anyone else has also experienced similar issues and know how to avoid it.

@@dannytheman1313 Do you know what a USB flash drive is? A GoPro camera has similar hardware inside it that enables the images coming through the lens to be 'written' electronically onto the storage hardware. There are no moving parts to this, and the unit can withstand many G's of force before any loss of data occurs due to physical damage. And yes, the camera was contained within a protective box to negate any damage to the camera upon landing.

I wonder at what altitude do "flying objects" cease to rotate with the Planet's atmosphere. We are told an airplane that has a flight pattern directed to Miami ends up in Miami rather than being required to plot a course for Houston to arrive in Miami... because the object moves with the atmosphere. So hence my question.

@@RasMerkabah I'm not entirely sure what you mean about the first comment regarding Miami. An airplane uses an engine and thrust to overcome gravity and atmosphere and propel itself to its destination. In the case of the balloon it is also affected by gravity and a rotating atmosphere even while aloft. The reason for its movement while midair is from wind. While atmosphere does rotate with the planet, winds and weather patterns can and do move counter to the rotation of the Earth.

Making a game where you are a weather balloon, and you need to steer your way out of objects so you don’t pop and stuff. The more levels you get the better types of balloon you get for higher altitudes. It is amazing when you see the balloon at the edge of space - it is so stunning - the beauty of the earth against the darkness of space. Extraordinary images when the balloon bursts of the little bits of shredded balloon material perfectly lit up by sunlight against black space. The only 'even better if' is to please try to find alternative ways of getting them out of trees rather than cutting the tree down - I do understand it is not easy. We have to be even more careful when the leaves are on the trees: there could be birds that are nesting & we must avoid disturbing them. As a non-profit charitable organisation I am sure you will appreciate all the positive values I am suggesting here. Nevertheless, thank you: this was the first high-altitude balloon of this type I have seen on a video & it was fascinating.

Why do all balloons burst at this particular atmosphere? ☝️nobody accounts for the significant DECREASE in temperature which results in the condensing the gas in the balloon to shrink. Yet everyone claims atmospheric pressure pops the balloon.
@sailorman8668
@sailorman8668 Жыл бұрын
Due to the decreasing air pressure as the balloon ascends, it expands in size, to the point where it reaches it's limits to expand any further without bursting. The temperature of the atmosphere has very little to do with the change in the balloon's size. If only you'd known the facts, instead of spouting your misinformation. Try harder Wade.

Cutting a tree to save a camera? Seriously? Plenty of other ways to go about that.

This is proof you csnnot see the curvature of earth from within our own atmosphere. Thats all no hole view of our planet can be obtained from this hight no matter what lens you use. But I have questions. 1. if the earth is flat and spins why dont we see the southern night skys. 2. Why is there an equator. 3. Why does Polaris not show in the sky below the equator and the southern cross not show in the northern sky. 4. Why is there North, South, East and West, 5. What purpose would longitude and lattatude have on a flat eath model. 6. How does day and night work. Seeing i face time Japan and its daytime while night time here. How does a flat earth model divide daylight and darkness 7. Where the hell would magnetic north be in the flat earth model. (Physics says it would be centered. Wheres the center. 8. When flying from Alaska to Bejieng over the North pole why does the compass point in one direction ahead of you then spins and points behind you. 9. Why havent we found any edges. Everything flat has an edge. 10. Why does the northern hemidphere sky rotate in a deferential direction from the southern hemisphere sky 11. Why are they called hemispheres.
