This footage is really cool but what I find especially interesting is the path the bird takes. For a "test flight", I think it's not unlike what I think many of us might have choosen because it stays close to the shore, low to the water, doesn't go far and he goes out then comes right back.

He knows how to get airspeed, knows how to get lift, knows how to bank, glide, land -- all without a single mistake, on the first flight! Pre-programmed by nature. Amazing! Great video!!

Information: Big bird as they named him was injured in a storm and lost his parents. He was taken in by a animal health car place and they soon discovered he could not fly. When he learned to fly he was not comfortable leaving the facility and stayed. The care takers said "he may stay as long as he like we are happy he is part of our family"
