I started with the SJCam, and love it. In fact, most people don't even notice it isn't a GoPro, I call it my FauxPro. I was impressed with the mounts that came with it, and my 2nd camera, an SJ400 knock off came with mounts too, and it was $19, but no where near the SJ4000 quality. Can't go wrong with an authentic SJCam SJ4000.

One of those things with branding I think. I remember my having that discussion with my ex about her designer handbags. They're better for sure, but a lot of value is in the image alone. What do they say? A painter is limited by his brush, but the best brush won't make a man a painter. Someone elsewhere, outside the world of motovlogging, (I want to say Veritasium) advised people thinking about getting into vlogging to just get a more basic economical camera. Sure, someday you might need the best to do really good work, but you don't know if you're going to stick with it, and it takes a very long time to learn how to do good work anyway. So I say, get the SJ1000 knowing that you can use its parts with a GoPro should you want better footage someday, and at that point you'll have a second camera that's pretty decent.

You are so right, After watching your vid on the SJ 4000 I bought one, its so much cheaper than a GoPro and you get all the mounts and Accessories it makes a great 2nd camera. RSM8

I was given one by a really nice subscriber of mine!!! And it's been sitting on my desk because it's a whole new learning curve for me. Plus, I really don't know where to mount it on my bike. The handlebar position would put it way too close to me. Was thinking about getting that gopro wrist mount but it's almost $60!

I believe I saw an unboxing video that you did of the SJ5000X; mounts were tumbling everywhere if I remember correctly. I think that video was also the first thumbs down that I've dished out to ya...LOL!

I agree wholeheartedly. I've never been one to look at spending an arm and a leg with this whole KZbin thing, but there are some people who will always look to GoPro as their go-to camera(s). And so be it, right? But if they want a good second camera (and a load of mounts to boot!), then paying under $50 for a little SJ4000 is a great option.

There are plenty of imitations out now that are pretty good. I have the hero 2 and the hero 3+ black. I bought all my accessories from China. I did have the 3+ freeze up to turn one vid into multiple small ones when it heats up.

I've heard of the same issue with the Hero4 Session. Heats up then freezes up. I don't get it man. GoPro should've figured this issue out long ago. I will say this--I have yet to have any of my budget action cams freeze up on me...jus' sayin'!

Out of the whole time owning a go pro I have never once bought a go pro accessory because they are so expensive and to be honest just the same quality as a chap Chinese one haha. It's crazy. As for the sj4000 I have always considered getting one but there are so many fake ones out there now. And I honestly don't know where to begin xD.

You are pretty safe if you get one that's branded with the SJCAM logo. All of the old ones didn't have this branding, but the new ones all do. I'd stick to one of the newer ones and you should be good to go!

Yeah, the genuine stuff is crazy expensive. But they have heaps of cheap knock off GoPro accessories on eBay. Great idea though mate!

Sure, they have tons of inexpensive accessories on eBay and other websites (I LOVE www.gearbest.com!), but my point is that you can get a bunch of inexpensive mounts AND a second action camera as a bonus! The number of mounts for the price alone makes is worth it in my mind. Thanks for chiming in brother!

Yeh man, at the end of the day I wish I hadn't spent the money on the two GoPro I have. I have had the freezer issue with one of them, but luckily they exchanged it for me. Unbelievable how expensive the mounts are, I always get the non branded ones off eBay, they cost almost next to nothing compared to the GoPro ones. On eBay you can actually bundle kits of about 50 different accessories for about £20-30. I've been playing with the adopted cube😉, just waiting for payday to buy a card for it then I can record as well. Tcrs fella ✊

It is crazy how many times I've heard of folks having issues with freeze-ups, audio problems, or other glitches. Still, it's great of them to fix/replace the units. And I have found some killer deals on mounts on www.gearbest.com. Thanks for sharing the info. on deals on eBay. Hope to see some adopted cube video clips soon! ;-)

Good ideas man - even better - forget the GoPro and just get the SJ, lol. I really dislike GloPro- the design is unsuitable for motobvlogging (too big a profile, wind drag, the mic adapter sticks out the side and means you can't charge and film, lens not rotatable - the list is endless. I do love my Drifts :) Might even get an SJ one day, just for bike mounting. Stay and ride safe my friend :)

Let me tell you, I have the lil SJ4000, a Xiaomi Yi, an SJCAM M20, and two TCL SVC200/400 cameras. Out of all of these cameras, the one with the most crisp and clear video continues to be the SJ4000! There are flaws...sure. But in terns of crystal clear video, no other camera can touch it!

I run The SJ4000 as well, Love that little camera! If you are looking for more accessories, check amazon for a company called Neewer. I just picked up a 40+ piece SJCam/GoPro accessory kit for $45 Canadian including shipping... As Always, GREAT video brother! Stay safe out there!
