I was a lifelong cat hater and hunting dog owner. After my once in a lifetime lab passed, I took a break for getting another dog (too painful thinking about it). Well after a few years and maybe thinking about another dog a stray cat showed up at our house and the wife started feeding it. Now that cat owns our house and everything in it and has brought great joy to our lives. Right now, she is sleeping on our bed, and we need to be quiet. lol

Joe cam to closing, sat on the table as we signed the docs then road home on the dash. He hung with us for one more move and passed at 15. He was a chill beast like Chester. I am sorry to tell you that cats when change the owners, sometimes they suffer so much and they stop want to eat they prefer not living when they feel so much missing of the owner. Cats are not easy to change the home, places and owners. The cats are not like dogs. Dogs forget the first owner if he will be well treated. Not the cats. Really not the cats. They "choose"to dye because of so so much suffer. You know there is a Portuguese proverb which tell the followind: "the dogs take care of human bodies. The cats care of the human souls".

It's kinda difficult for any animal living in any shelter to be "relaxed" given the fact they cannot fully trust their caretakers nor their environment filled with what they may consider as rivals, or competition, especially when cats are territorial of their surroundings, like people, property, food, toys, sleeping areas, all that sort of stuff..it's only when they know the place they are living in is truly theirs and that they 'own' it will they eventually really relax and be comfortable with their environment..😊😊..just saying..😊😊

It's great how you are befriending and giving Chester and other cats a home. It's pretty cold out there. When you brought him to the vet he seemed a little apprehensive. Someone had commented on how the cats at the property weren't neutered but are outdoor cats. I'm glad the outdoor cats have their freedom and are happy, in terms of freedom in this area? Are all the vaccines proven? Have you done any research? I just think sometimes the sterilizing of animals is not always great for the animals. If the same thing gets done to humans as humans do to the animals would the humans be happy?

Cats are awesome!!! You can tell he was loved at one point in his life. So glad you chose to take Chester in! We rescued a Calico kitten from a feral group of around 20 cats and kittens. She almost died, qnd it took 2 rounds of antibiotics to make her well. We had her for seven years when she came down with a terrible infection. Again we raced her to the vet and saved her life... but shortly after her recovery from the emergency spay/infection she developed a tumor on her neck. It was too aggressive and close to her vitals, so sadly we had no choice but to say goodbye and let her go. Grace was my son's cat, and it was so hard on him, but we gave her seven years of love and life.

Maine coon cats will be drawn to certain types of people and pick only one person usually that they bond with. That’s why they run away so much from people who buy pedigree Maine coon cats and think this cat is going to love me because I love him but it doesn’t work out that way. For some reason there is some kind of kismet that has to go on between a main coon cat and the person they bond with. so whenever male kitten Maine coon cats get to a certain age they typically find a way to get outside no matter what you do and they howl and spray and bite and scratch until you let them out. And then they’ll do their thing and eventually they will find a person that they just love for whatever reason and that’s it. That is not usual for all cats, but just this breed. It is because they have feral cat genes in the mix and are not part of the domesticated breed that we normally have as pets, and they have been bred to keep that feral gene for so long that it has become a well-known trait of this breed. That is not to say that they won’t get along with other human beings, but they just don’t have the same bond that they have with their one person.

Hello Justin ive been watching your videos, i enjoy your videos, and your cat Chester. I have backtracked and watched all your videos. Beautiful country, Vermont is where my grandmother was from. That first bath you gave Chester i thought he was going to freak out. He loves and trust you so much. I wasnt a cat person either, i am now feeding 12 stray cats, made cat houses for them out of salvaged old wooden dressers, insulated, etc. they wander off in the day and come back every late afternoon. I gotten close to them and three of them have allowed me to pet them. Chester looks like the one i pet frequently. Thank you for rescuing Chester. God bless you and your renovation of your property and your new home in the woods. Dolores.

Congrats on your new best friend. (I think you might want to get a slightly larger litter box.) I keep mine with 3-4 inches of litter so there is always lots to cover up and no smell. You have a smart cat. Amazing you could bathe him so easily. Welcome to the world of cat hair everywhere! 😺🐾 worth it totally. Oh gee he looks so distinguished since his bath. @@JustinJennyI’m curious…when people tell you to keep Chester indoors…does that annoy you? I rescued a cat that had been living outside and he’s now an indoor-outdoor cat bc he would be absolutely depressed if I confined him indoors. I know they say they will live longer indoors but I believe quality over quantity and Chester seems happy in both environments.
@JustinJenny Жыл бұрын
@@jeanmcginnis9804this whole comment thread has been entertaining. I wish I had mentioned that he now has three big litter boxes and his food is no where close to them. I do appreciate everyone giving me positive feedback. Fortunately for Chester he now lives the best of both worlds. He stays cozy at me with home and when I go to the homestead to work he roams free range and sleeps in the trailer with me. I think I’d be heart broken if I kept him inside 24/7 as he always sits in the window and yearns to hunt and explore just like me! I can’t afford to lose him though so I don’t let him be an outdoor cat where I live in suburbia. Not worth the risk of him getting hit by a car or stolen. I would never be the same! Thanks for watching. Way to many comments to respond to! Trying me best

Over the years I have had 10 cats who came to me as kittens. Two of them were ferals. They all figured out the litter box immediately. No training required. Chester is a very laid-back cat who seems to understand that the nice human is going to make his life a whole lot better. Once he has been cleaned up professionally he can take it from there. Cats spend considerable time cleaning and grooming themselves, but a good brushing is always appreciated.

I am watching this episode with my beautiful cat Chomper she was in a horrible home and my daughter smuggled her out and gave her to me for a bday present and at that time she saved me in ways no one knew about! Chester chose you and I cannot wait to see your future together! xoxo

I've had cats since 1990. One of the most devoted, utterly loving cat I have ever had was like this cat. She came from a feral colony in the nearby woods. She was in rough shape, I nursed her back to health and had her for 18 glorious years. She was my little shadow and I adored her. I hope your story ends up like mine: a little care at first, but the truest, sweetest friend anyone could ask for. Bless you for rescuing this handsome boy. I have a feeling you're going to be blessed for many years to come with his friendship!

I wish you and your sweet cat, all the best. I knew when I was about 50 y.o. the cats are very special . Cats, I believe are spirits in the earth, someone we lost and now they came as cats for? taking care of us. Before my fisrt cat, I always had dogs. And my best pet when I was a child he big white dog called SADO, named as a river of my country Portugal. Since my last dog, once I was outside in a terrible windy afternoon, waiting for a bus to come home. Suddenly I saw something like a small white ball rolling to me.I though it was a small paper packet. I took him with me. He has chosen me among other people. His name was Indiana Jones. He lived with me always so sweet and calm during 17 years. Since then I have had cats. Really they give to us very good quite and calm life. They transfer to us a good energy. I repeat I believe they are spirits in earth, a very good company, without any stress near them. And above all they are more attached to us, than dogs. Even people in my country think and tell that dogs are better than cats. Both are the best to be with an human, or, like in my case to be with one old woman.I have a female black cat, 4 y.o., called "Amália" which are more important to me than my family. The people never feel loneliness if they he they have cats nearby. Do you know how good is the Silence? Cats give us the good sound of silence😇 Good luck Chester😻😘
