Gor Rok Gets Left on "Read"

After his brief stint in competitive Gor-Rok is never to be seen again due to being cancelled. The gnoblar fondler allegations proved impossible to disprove.

tbh I still don't think he's worth it atm. Maybe in certain matchups. the principle behind is that he's basically diet sigvald , he is very hard to kill. Only he isn't that hard to kill. So it's not worth imo. Banana Slaan is still the best choice 75% of the time if not always.

Gor Rok not only sucks at the one thing he's supposed to be able to do, he's also expensive. He's not just garbage, he's flaming garbage.

if anything, Gor-rok would've been better off running with the ark of Sotek and using that double slow to catch enemies.

I'm surprised those armies apparently cost the same. on one side we have two crushers, a butcher and a stonehorn with some gnoblars (and the ironblaster i guess?), so 5 expansive units and a bunch of actual cheap trash. on the other side, we have gor rok, a bunch of spears, a bunch of skinks, TWO bastiladons, a shitton of feral cold ones AND a skink oracle. so, basically 4 expensive units (idk how much gor rok is, but lords are generally expensive), a bunch of mid tier units, and ALSO some cheap trash, (except skinks can actually do something other than wave the white flag.)

The bastiladons are both relatively cheap for being monsters and the Ogres took two of their most expensive RoRs, so it does add up a little. Not tryna "erm, actually" you or anything, just thought I'd explain.

@muffinmaster7059 thank you for that insight! I'm not doing multiplay, i just like watching it. i think i mainly overvalued the bastiladons then. but i do think we can agree that, from the team preview, the armies don't look evenly matched at all.

ogres dont have much lord sniping abilities for infantry so taking gor rok is a beautiful form of overkill. ark of soteks was also great to see as they just nullified those flanks. as for meta discussion the reason why gor rok and other infantry lords struggle is they cant get through their own infantry to punish overextending fellas. my solution is they add a "champion" mechanic where friendly units path out of the way so gor rok and others can actually do their job.

The "Champion" mechanic would be better for gameplay, make sense in lore AND be accurate for tabletop... But its never going to happen. Its a win-win-win that would not only require extra coding, but require CA to tear up some of the 10 year+ code-labyrinth that they have been using since Napoleon: Total War. I'm afraid its as likely as Archeon becoming a Waywatcher

@@steik6414wait. What if… it is not that complicated code wise. They have “strider” ability for units to pass through terrain without penalties, now apply that strider to pass through the infantry and voila

@@ZESTdabest Because unless you want the champion models to path through all models and never be trapped by enemies you would have to code the pathing based on the whether the model was friendly or enemy

troglodon is actually best to shoot against cav and monstrous infantry it often misses se's but it glitches and can hit multiple cav or monstrous inf models if they are in motion. Also imo gor rok or any of the other lords are still not worth it over the slaan.

Shouldve brought mace of ulamak, since it has dazed now. Makes it good against those desperate situations and lord dueling.
