Cooking risotto is not easy. You really had to babysit it and stir constantly coz the rice will burn easily. You also had to make sure the white wine alcohol is already evaporated before you can serve. Too long on the stove and the rice is burned. Too short and the rice is mush and full of alcohol.

Contrary to the other comment I'd say it's really not that hard. Just toast the rice, add the liquid and gently stir. Try it once in a while and it's done when it's done. You also don't necessarily need to add wine, you can just skip that step

They have to use towels to hold them and in another season, a contestant burned her hand when she forgot to use her towel first and gripped her pan which was being used. It is michael's fault for doing it, and you cannot play devil's advocate in this situation. Like other comments said, only michael knew that it was burning but didnt put it on his own table but instead others. His unsuspected teammates could get seriously injured and get kicked off hells kitchen for what he did and if it wasn't for gordon noticing it, it might as very well happened

The times he's not screaming are when there's nothing worth bitching about. If a contestant is getting their name said at volume multiple times in a service, then the one with the problem is most likely the contestant, not Gordon. As such, the solution is to pay better attention to what the Hell they're doing, not to get Gordon to play kiddie gloves with them like they're preteens on Master Chef Kids. This is a serious high class restaurant that will have the winner working at ANOTHER serious high class restaurant. If they can't handle the pressure, they can find somewhere else to cook.

I’ve actually seen that happen. When I started on line I worked in a kitchen where the sauté station had a bunch of a&o dishes and most of them you heat the oil & garlic, add the veg and put up and wait for pickup. Except the spinach. Because it cooks in a minute at most. So the sous there would just leave the pan cold, but the sauté cook liked to heat the garlic and oil until the garlic got a little brown. We were busy and the chef picked up the spinach and my sous went to grab the pan and all the hot oil just splattered on his arm. It was so bad it basically just immediately started bubbling, and if you know anything about burns that’s a pretty bad burn. But still for me, a wok or sauté station (though they are really not the same thing) is just about as close to heaven as one can get to. Give me eight burners and a few dozen pans and I’m like a hog in shit.

There was a chef on the red team that didn't tell Gordon the pan was hot. He burned his hand on it (not as bad as someone would have burned it on that one) but enough he went to put cold water on it. Then like 5 mins later same chef did the same thing and Gordon burned the same hand again. He then showed the chef how hot the pan was by putting a teaspoon of water on it, the water sizzled.
