As someone who works in a kitchen, I'd sooner get yelled at than be calmly told to just leave by the head chef. If they're yelling at you, it pretty much means you're being given a chance to correct your fuckup and work to your potential. If you're being told to leave calmly and in a defeated tone, you need to immediately update your resumé, apply for unemployment benefits, think about whether you belong in a kitchen and what you need to do to improve.

Not to say Gordon isn't above cussing (its pretty common in a lot of kitchens) but he is an excellent Chef, Manger, and in the case of his TV shows a showman. Its pretty obvious on the difference between British Kitchen Nightmares and American Kitchen Nightmares. Much more subdued in England for a less excitable audience. Much louder for the US as Americans tend to like in your face TV.
@ClokworkGremlin4 жыл бұрын
Gordon has plenty of patience for people who are honest, earnest, willing, and eager to learn. If you work with him, he will move mountains to make you succeed. He has no patience for people who are arrogant, won't listen, and insist they know better than he does even when they're demonstrably proven wrong. Unfortunately for his reputation, it's the latter and his reactions to them that tend to get the most viewers on TV and clicks on the internet, so that's what most of us get to see. But Gordon is actually a nice guy, a fantastic mentor, and in the rare video where he's learning something from someone more knowledgeable, he's an excellent and respectful student.

Apparently he created the persona of “Chef Ramsay” for the shows and it’s basically him dialed up to 11. He’s not putting on exactly, but he’s more brutally honest than is polite (honestly pretty British anyway) and he’s more apt to yell. Not to many more differences since I’ve seen him be compassionate on multiple episodes of the American version too. I do wish we saw more of what I’ve seen in the UK show.

These shows really illustrate how the chef is the heart of the entire place. If your chef isn't taking charge and really giving a shit and taking pride, your restaurant will never be anything noteworthy. So many restaurants take shortcuts and just reheat shit resulting in a glorified TV dinner.....people can do that at home for a fraction of the price and without the hassle.

Food critic's WordPress blog: "Dinner on the river, you won't believe who was there!" "My sustainance appeared quite pretentious but I'll fancy I do exaggerate a bit. The chicken skin was crispy and exquisite. I imagined a field of memories, happy and sad, but no so much the later, I kid, I kid. The squashed potatoes left a lot to be desired, but was enhanced by piping hot gravy seasoned with local native American herbs and spices, it was most, delectable ... Chef Ramsay despite his in ornately flaws in which I deduced upon a menagerie of sequential reflections during his advantageous tenure amongst masters both sagacious and unyielding ..."

When Chef Ramsay yells at you it’s because you’ve given up, and he wants you to do better. When he quietly tells you to go home it’s because he’s given up, and he knows you can’t.
