What people should realize, and should stop doing, is blaming Gordon Ramsay for the numerous amount of restaurants that eventually shutdown after appearing on Kitchen Nightmares. Ramsay did _not_ take over their restaurants and left them in the dust. Far from it, as his job in Kitchen Nightmares, is to teach the owners, the chefs, the manager, the know how to properly manage their restaurant and how to keep it going in the long run. The restaurants that eventually closed, are the ones who went back to their own, destructive ways, and that's not Ramsay's fault. He's not their keeper, he doesn't watch over their restaurant. Once filming has wrapped, and his job is done, it's up to each individual owner to upkeep their restaurant, and keep that new leaf turned over. Otherwise, they're doomed to fail.

Gordon is the only chef who had the balls to withstand the restaurants that tried almost killing him with their food due to incompetence and pompous nature, yet he tried brushing it off to see their potential and make them push forward for their own sake. As a business owner who's an avid watcher of Kitchen Nightmares and Hotel Hell, I find his general philosophy applicable to almost any business model. You must be passionate about what you do for your business to succeed. As soon as you start getting lazy and stop caring about your customers experience at your business, your business is doomed to fail. Showmanship aside, I really respect Ramsay, his passion for what he does, and his drive to pass that passion on to others who are not so well equipped.

Very similar to Tabatha Coffey's shows with mostly hair salons, but a few other companies. I don't eat in restaurants much and I cut my own hair, but both these shows are still fascinating at how many people can open businesses and totally miss one or more of the main points of running a business. +Martin Nielsen Oliver is so much richer than Ramsay, I just read he has a net worth of $400 million. Not that strange though since Ramsay made his career focusing on fine dining which is much more affected by economic recession etc and Oliver is more mainstream, getting "the mob" to buy his cook books etc I bet their rivalry is based on this fact, Ramsay is a little bit "jealous" of Olivers economic success and Oliver is annoyed that regardless of how wealthy he will ever be, Ramsay will always be considered the greater chef.

Same. I started watching his show and it kinda made me realized how shit some food I cooked was. It made me become critical of my food and others as well. It has made me a better cook and made me find better restaurants

Chef Ramsay LOVES food and has a true passion for learning food cultures, teaching others how to cook and do business and is why he is my favorite

I was addicted to this programme. I always found it staggering how every restaurant the visited did not seem to understand that the best form or either positive or negative advertising is word of mouth and also that it is free. If these restaurants had the foresight to recognise this then perhaps the point that Gordon tried to make would have been clearer.

*The queen is walking towards him in the ceremony* Gordon: "Hurry the fuck up you fucking donkey, how the shit do you run a country movingly like that? You probably couldn't even run a fucking McDonald's!" I know he isn't like that in real life, but still.

I'm surprised someone hasn't bought the entire series, and made a list of season-episode (and name)-time-category-lesson. From there, people can sort the list by which category occurred the most, and at least avoid doing that in their restaurant. The major ones would likely be: cleaning the kitchen, throwing out the rotten/old food, proper cycling the older food into soups, menu sizes appropriate for the restaurant size, tasting/comparing your food, and paying attention to your staff (listen to their complaints but also fire the problem employees)
