"Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares is a television programme featuring British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay first broadcast on Channel 4 in 2004.
In each episode, Ramsay visits a failing restaurant and acts as a troubleshooter to help improve the establishment in just one week. Ramsay revisits the restaurant a few months later to see how business has fared in his absence. Episodes from series one and two have been re-edited with additional new material as Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares Revisited; they featured Ramsay checking up on restaurants a year or more after he attended to them.

Just in case anybody's wondering about Stuart. After the Sandgate closed down, he got a great gig at a different place - Courtyard Restaurant. He shortly was awarded 2 AA Rosettes and recently got his first Michelin star. So glad he got through it all and really made his career.

Without meaning to sound rude....I take it you don't live in the UK? Assuming they've been employed for at least 1 year you can't fire someone on the spot. They get a letter to a disciplinary where they will be told the reason why. They then have 48hrs to contest if they wish. No-one does contest because when fired it's tradition to say if you don't contest we'll write you a nice letter of recommendation to give other employers.

For the record, it looks like Stuart is doing fine. He currently works at The Bartley Lodge Hotel in Cadnam, near Southampton as far as I know and isn't the Michelin star winning Stuart White others have mentioned. Evidently he's a good chef and a good man and I hope he's happy and his food is good.

Loved this episode … I wish I had the funds to open a restaurant by a seaside … I’ve been cooking for the last 15 years .. I’ve been a kitchen manager for about 10 years .. but never been lucky enough to have the funds to open a place .. and since seaside was always my favourite place in the world and fishing is simply my favourite thing to do .. sadly I never had the funds … ok ok , I’m down moaning and crying lol … I enjoyed this episode, that was mean to be my comment lol

To be fair, all establishments I’ve ever worked at allow staff to drink in the bar on their time off. I’ve never heard of a place that doesn’t allow that. Also they must be drinking super cheap to only spend 2k a month in the bar, all of them. I’ve worked in restaurants with bars and some workers literally spend half or more of their paychecks in the bar.

@@lucasc5622 well currently I’m retired so no. But when I bartended, yeah im sure some of my coworkers were alcoholics, but im not a doctor. I never witnessed or suspected any employee drinking on the job… certainly not when I was working. As a bartender we almost always sample our drinks to make sure they are ok with the straw test. Usually that’s with drinks your not accustomed to making everyday. That’s actually allowed where I work and legal. Not sure what that has to do with anything.
