The burrito yoke and the integrated waist band and ties... true stitch witchery. Thanks for featuring this pattern, I love the techniques and fabrics. The parrots are wild, I would love to find that pattern here. I did see a bed linen set locally, in a colourful large parrot motif, that might be an idea for summer, in a peplum length.

Hi Karina, thank you for the awesome tutorials as always. They really help making learning new techniques easier. I bought the pattern but not sure about the size to choose. My bust measurement falls into size 16 but my waist measurement is 40” do i need to blend or do you think i could get away with a straight size 16 as it is a wrap
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 ай бұрын
No, you need to blend to your waist size because there are darts in the front and the back. It should fit well to get the correct overlap. When I say it's adjustable, I mean that in about 2" of variation tops.
@kirstypemmapaterson37772 ай бұрын
I take your sewing techniques as gold standard and watch all your videos I always use the affiliate links even if you haven’t done a specific video as I know you will have a technique video that has taught me how to make it better. I’m intrigued how this pattern compares differs from the sew over it Eve wrap dress which I have made with burrito for yokes. I had need to do full bust adjustment and I found the neckline low too. I also found the skirt pieces quite wide. I’m thinking I might have a better starting block with this one than make all the pattern adjustments and skirt might be narrower. I’m always wondering how much fabric you use for a garment as I know you are very cleaver with frugal cutting out and can get more than one garment out of some lengths and you have mentioned in the past that you tend to not buy that much meterage. I guess it’s more work for you to give how much meterage you have used and it’s totally dependant on individuals size what they would use. I just like playing a game in my head when cutting out can I be as resourceful as Karin 😂
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 ай бұрын
The Eve dress is made for a B cup and that gave me wrap issues on the bodice that I didn't enjoy at all. A pin and deep neckline is just not what every one wants. The yardage: I'll never mention it because it varies too much with the width of the fabric, size and creative layout one might have. I do use a lot less than what the patterns say though. I don't want to be held accountable for an amount that will not be enough or too much :)
@BrookeSimmons2 ай бұрын
Beautiful! And you explain things so well. Oddly enough I just made a dress with a wrap top, though it wasn't a true wrap dress. I love the wrap peplum top and will probably make one next! I might try bias binding the neckline for the first time (never done that). Your videos are really helpful! One question: do you actually need the dart in the front piece? That is, I know why it's there, but couldn't you also move it into the gathers, or into the neckline itself, then close it on the pattern piece before you cut out, so that you wouldn't have a break in the patterned fabric? (That's what I did with mine -- the closed-dart pattern neckline had a little angle where the line to it intersected the bust apex, but then once you're wearing it, it just closes any potential gaping rather than looking angled.) I'm still learning about pattern drafting and am trying to understand whether that was a styling choice on the part of the pattern makers, or whether that dart really *is* necessary right there. Thank you!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 ай бұрын
You can always transform a dart into something else if you want. What you can't do is just eliminate it into nothing. I would keep it. It gives shape under the bust and it fits well as it is.

Do you have any comments on a comparison between this dress and the Petaluma from Itch to Stitch? I know the Petaluma is a faux wrap, but I was thinking more about the fit in the bust area....
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 ай бұрын
@@mgistcaful I have not made the Petaluma. The size range is smaller for that pattern. The cup sizes should fit well but I know I’d have to lengthen the bodice. I prefer the true wrap because no zipper is needed like in a faux wrap.

Katrina, could I do two different dart busts for fit? I have a much smaller breast on Right due to cancer times two on that side, so I usually stay away from patterns with darts, but love this pattern. Thanks
