Considering how strong gorillas are, that's pretty sound advice - especially around a big silverback male. Gorillas don't 'just snap'. Don't conflate them with chimps. There's a reason these tours are permitted, but no such foot tours into intimate range with chimp communities exist. @JoseRodriguez-eu5ez5 жыл бұрын
@@durakeno5575 We're talking about wild animals, not ones kept in captivity and being visited by a caretaker that they're accustomed to. You're being broad, and while I do somewhat agree with the dog example, symbiosis is only formed in a case where you need something from one another. As such, it doesn't pertain to the contents of the video. Just think about what you said for a moment..."Different species...". Now tell me how the situation wouldn't go awry were the tourist to have been seen touching the ape? There are a dozen apes surrounding these people...and they're wild. While smart, you'd be defensive if a random person started touching your family wouldn't you? This is the same case. Again, not saying animals can't interact in a friendly manner, but misconceptions are prominent when you don't understand the differences between your species and theirs.

@GRAPHENE IS IN THE MASKS, SWABS and PCR TESTS!!! you know that one month where you felt someone was watching you sleep? That was me. I was surveying for prey, and I liked the challenge that you gave me. I knew you saw a glimpse of me once, remember that disfigured shadow that was peeking out the window? You almost caught me! I managed though with an abundance of time and patience, and let's just say that some of the furniture you own aren't actually yours.

I had a similar experience in Rwanda in 2009 when I went trekking with the gorillas there. There was a young adult male who decided he wanted to play with us. Same rules more or less as at Bwindi, but when one appears out of the bush right next to you there isn't much you can do. He investigated the person behind me for a bit, before brushing straight past me (grabbing my leg as he went past). Then he played with the elastic of the knee support that one of the other group members had, before the rangers decided that enough was enough and encouraged him to move on. He was a bit more annoyed than the one in your video about being moved on, though, and just ran straight back the way he came towards me. I got out the way in time, but the person behind me wasn't able to move in time and he got knocked out the way and back into the bushes behind him. One of the most memorable experiences of my life, but sadly not caught on camera.

@tmsplltrs3 жыл бұрын
@@user-oi6ec8ge4c I also always wondered the same. Maybe because Europe has less dangerous animals than other places, so the instinctual fear response to wild animals evolved to be less strong? Then again the same kinda counts for jumping off bridges/planes, maybe we're just not right in the head.

This always makes me wonder about the impact of these gorilla tours on the gorillas themselves. Being able to observe and get so close to gorillas is a wonderful thing, but I can only imagine that gal felt comfortable enough with humans to give one a hug then sit in the middle of them is the result of frequent exposure to passing groups of humans. Not saying this should be a reason to stop gorilla tours, just that it's something interesting, possibly worth researching.

From what I know, aren’t gorillas really chill dudes? They’re mostly neutral and won’t attack unless they feel uncomfortable or they’re attacked first, and even then, they first give a warning so you can escape, they prefer to avoid confrontation but they will kill you if needed so don’t tease them or disturb them, you’re mostly fine around them if you don’t make them uncomfortable.
@Robert-hz9bj2 жыл бұрын
Somewhat, but they are also territorial. They are generally pretty chill, and generally unhostile to non-threatening organisms (vegetarian and all that). But there's no telling what they do or don't find threatening sometimes...

I do not believe that at all. You can talk to other humans. We live in massive societies with other humans. We do not live together with Gorillas. There is a reason for that. There is also a reason why we can't look them in the eyes.
