He was so upset & concerned when the baby was separated from everyone. Why do the others keep the baby from him???
@AllThingsGorilla3 ай бұрын
Yes, all the male gorillas in this troop have been castrated, except for Lomako. The castration decision was made by the EAZA, so the zoo is following orders. The decision was made so that surplus males can stay in their family groups without being aggressive toward the silverback. When the baby is this age, the mother usually makes a conscious effort to keep the baby separated from the silverback, limiting their interactions to ensure the baby's safety😘👶🦍♥️. Lomako doesn't get upset about this; he understands his role and knows he just needs to wait for the baby to continue growing up healthy. Lomako is a wonderful father.🦍♥️💪

@patriciamorgan83593 ай бұрын
@charlesmccoy5857 births of male and female gorillas is about equal. If all the males are allowed to become silverbacks there won't be enough females available for them to lead their own troops. Castrating selected males prevents them from going through puberty. They will be able to stay with their family groups rather than creating conflict. They have a continuing role in the family.
