Got one of these a few weeks back for dealing with my online Masters students. It’s fantastic in every way possible. I wish I had one 30 years ago, instead of the acetates!

@@KitBetts-Masters Yes, it’s a massive game changer, not least because I’ve got my laptop at home connected to a 24in monitor which has no camera. The laptop is open at 180deg and lies under the monitor riser stand. Now I can use the Ipevo as a web cam, and as you’ve shown, move it to a more flattering angle. The laptop lying under the monitor gives the audience an industrial view! I could see this Ipevo working brilliantly, at my old Uni, which had fantastic AV, even back in the 2000s, mainly because they creamed hundreds of millions of pounds in applied research. We were doing conference video calls long before the majority of industry, because we were dealing with global blue chip companies. The amount of times I had to struggle with moving webcams to whiteboards, flipcharts etc, when I could have just written and drawn on a sheet of paper with the Ipevo at my desk! I can see why you evangelise about Ipevo. The Do-cam is great, it’s just a shame it doesn’t have a built in mike, which would make it perfect. However, this will slip into a pocket and if I had a set up of permanent IT where I teach , I wouldn’t have to traipse around with my laptop. Even now, when I start teaching again in October, I won’t have to carry flipcharts everywhere with me, now!

The V4K is slightly cheaper. But I would definitely go with the Do cam for the portability!

Aside from portability, presence of the microphone, and flip button, are there any hardware or other remarkable differences? Like the maximum capturing area size, or native resolution, or camera angle? Thanks

Is it possible by using IPEVO Do cam to annotate/write on a document on screen using the digital tablet? Is there a feature in IPEVO visualiser software for this purpose? I want to buy this.....I have seen in a review a teacher was able to annotate/write on the document images with a digital tablet that appeared just like you are writing on a digital whiteboard. He selected writing tool in the IPEVO app/software. However, that IPEVO document visualiser he used costs $440....too expensive for me. Please can you explore that feature in the IPEVO Do Cam software and let us know. I will wait for your reply.

Hiya, yes you can do that in the software. You can do that over any camera using the free ipevo "visualizer" software. I suggest that you download that and give it a go. See if it meets your requirements before buying a document camera.

@@KitBetts-Masters Thanks a lot for replying to my question. I have bought do cam, arrived today. But I checked it with the visualiser software. Excellent doc cam, however, while teaching through zoom, we can not apply manual focus lock in the software, which is annoying as it tries to do auto focus if paper moves while writing on it online. I have tried 2 times testing with zoom. Is there a way to apply focus lock with live zoom teaching? I think v4k does have a physical manual focus button on it as you have mentioned. Am I right? If I also buy v4k would I be able to apply manual focus through the button on the doc cam itself, not through the software, while teaching online through zoom???? I really need advice. Sorry to pester you once again. ✍️🎓📚

@Emma Jack I use a document camera (IPEVO VZ-R) with the visualizer software for my classes. Instead of letting Zoom access your camera directly, you can present either a window or a screen through the conferencing software. I have two screens, the laptop and an external monitor, while teaching and usually let Meet/Zoom share one of these screens. Then I maximize the visualizer app on that screen. Then you get all the benefits of the visualizer software (like freezing the picture and annotating on it). Usually I also have other apps on that screen (web browser with the class assignments/schedule/syllabus showing, Geogebra math software, an IDE for programming, presentations, etc) that I can flip between with an Alt-tab keystroke to the one needed for the class. On the other screen I have the meeting visible with all the students and their comments/chat so I can monitor those students that prefer to write rather than speak up in front of the whole class. Having said that, I like that my older VZ-R have dedicated buttons for focusing/locking focus, turning on the light, rotating the picture and zooming for example. Personally I think the physical buttons are faster to use than opening the corresponding setting in the software. But that is just a personal preference. But there is no "right" way to do it. Depending upon what you want there are a lot of options. What I describe above is a part of the method I have used for a couple of months now (I actually have two webcams and a breakout room for individual help, but that is another story). I hope you find a setup that works for your classes.

@@maxzomborszki7381 Thank you very much for your detailed answer. It has helped me in deciding my set up. When I wrote above question I was new to the set up, I have understood the benefit of logging in 2nd screen and and also dragging windows into it. I am using an old ipad and connecting it through DUET. I have also tried on my extra TV to use as a 2nd screen it has worked. Yes, I understand I will look into your model if it affordable to buy. Yes, PEVO window can be shared, I didn't realise the more I looked into zoom, I found more solutions. I use Wacom digital tablet but I want to move to IPAD pro 12.9 with apple pencil, but my family discouraged me. I would like to have a physical focus lock button. Thanks once again for your wonderful advice.

They are broadly similar in terms of video quality. DO Cam is slightly better I would say. DO Cam is more versatile, but v4k has the auto focus and single focus button.
