A cold day in December 2021.
The gorillas are relaxing indoors, but when their father Momotaro moves to another room, the eldest son Gentaro starts messing with his mother Genki.
The mother, enraged by this, chases Gentaro around the house. The second son, Kintaro, was also chasing Gentaro around with his mother.
It looks like Gentaro is not going to be able to beat Genki just yet.

Are they planning on mating Anne and Gentaro? I missed that. He is a burly fellow but I'm not sure he has the temperament to be a breeding alpha. Kintaro is braver. He tries to keep the peace even protecting his abuser, Gentaro. Kintaro stands up to his father. He takes whatever Gentaro dishes out. I guess I'm partial to Kintaro. I think he is the most suited to succeed his father in time but that would be what happens in the wild with fittest. I just don't think Gentaro is that one. He was spoiled for 7 years. It is so fascinating to watch them. Sort of like watching humans in a way. No one knows what will happen so cheer your favorite successor on. I watch them every day with my psychology hat on and its a guess at best for any of us. Im just seriously concerned that he is getting to be very big and powerful. Momotaro needs Genki to not step in with her big mothers heart and let Momotaro keep him in check before he hurts his mother or brother. He is emotionally immature and that makes him dangerous with his size and age. Its all so fascinating isn't it?

I dont think Gentaro would treat you any different than he treats anyone but Momotaro. Male primates including humans have a point where they question authority and are promptly put in their place ending only when they move on and establish their own authority. At 10 yrs old it is time that Gentaro either moves on or is isolated with Momotaro so Genki can't encourage him by placating him after he is reprimanded by the only authority he recognizes. We will see what happens won't we.

This is the most incompetent staff on the face of the planet. We have seen this play out for sometime now and they continue to place Genki in harm''s way. Genki is fragile and she needs her nerves calm to take care of Kinny, who she is obligated to btw, and hopefully her unborn baby. Gentaro needs to be removed and allowed to grow into the silverback that he is destined to be. His planned attacks have become too aggressive and I am afraid Genki will get hurt soon. It is more than evident that the time has come for Gentaro to form his family, I am very sorry that he and Kintaro part but I think it would be for the best. I'm trying my best to understand the reasoning at this heighten stage of son being overly aggressive towards his mother and it's only getting worst. Why did you let Montero go out first and lock mama up with her with son like. Is this show for the videos to get more people to watch? Although Montero is a very passive father and not much help for his wife I think this would have stopped long ago and not ha e progress so badly now if he was like D'jeeco and Shabani because if they see a little trouble they are on top of it. The space for four Gorillas is so very small they hardly have enough room to just really run it's like a crackerjack box. I truly hope that you guys prepare them a much larger and nicer home they deserve better.

This zoo has no funding to build a larger enclosure...they are getting by on donations of food, so the only way to get Genki some peace is to move Gentaro to another zoo-which isn't likely to happen anytime soon, or let him outside while Momotoro goes into the other room to eat. (Since he's food aggressive.) It is the Zoo's responsibility to take care of their animals.

It's called high anxiety. She loves her son but, she can't love him properly because of the way he tries to get attention from her and it had caused her much stress, she can't hardly relax because he is always messing with her and she is always on the defense. Montero hasn't even grabbed him one good time to shake him up to say enough of this so, he sees he can keep on getting away with this improper Behavior. I feel bad for both of them.

They're about the same size, same weight (200 lbs), same strength, but an angry Genki is scary---puting my $$$ on Genki. Obviously Gentaro's behavior towards Genki has been more aggressive with time. The keepers separate Momotaro and Gentaro goes off on her! Maybe it's time to separate Genatro from the group.

Here's the thing. Genki sensed Momotaro was circling to leave which is why they were following him. At one point she steers, holds back Kintaro just before Momo scoots out and the doors closes. I believe Momo had a check-in with staff by himself. Obviously, Gentaro took advantage of the situation and staff should temporarily separate Genki & Kintaro for safety precaution in future. Gentaro is not mentally prepared or mature enough to start a family; yet. Female Silverbacks mature at 10 yrs of age. It takes Silverback males to fully mature 13 to 15 yrs of age. Gentaro still has a lot of more maturing and growth to do before taking on the responsibility of being a parent.

No other blackback in captivity attacks their mother...Genki is the mother, she should've raised him with love, patience, and respect the same way she's raising Kintaro. Genki knows the Gent is her son. Nene raised Kiyo with love, Ozala and Momoko. I consider the above 3 to be very good mothers to all their babies. Genki was NEVER a good mother to Gent. The only closeness would be Genki asking Gent to groom her. Genki is a selfish eater and would attack a young Gent if he was near her food. Gent is the ONLY blackback doing this to his mom ...think about it for a minute...why?

Because she used to bully him over food every day, just like she is doing now to kintaro when they eat dinner. I had a clip of her attacking gentaro at a young age, when they were locked in the little room for dinner.

@@bigboytoyz541 Yes, I've seen that clip. That wasn't motherly of Genki. I remember years back, when Kintaro had turned 1 years old and had his first birthday cake, how Genki inhaled it....she took the one slice of lemon that he had from his mouth... Kintaro ended up with nothing. Everyone in the comments said Genki deserved the whole cake... It's like Genki can do no wrong...she can clobber Gentaro, throw poop, etc, etc... It's maddening!!!

@@thesummerof1968 you are so right. I remember when kintaro was just a baby and the zoo would feed him through the bars. Every time they gave him a piece of food she would snatch it out of his hand. He didn't get any of it. And everyone would say, genki needs the food and kintaro doesn't because he is breastfeeding. Please, she was on empty the whole time she was breastfeeding. I have a feeling most of the people sticking up for genki are women and they stick up for her just because she is a female. Well, I'm a woman also, and I can't stand her disgusting behavior.

In what way is this entertaining seeing them go round and round in circles within seconds !!! Lions in a cage in a 2 by 4 cage springs to mind !!! Even there out door has a roof granted it's a iron netted roof bit it's a roof none the less!!! How ate you licenced ???? Check out other zoo's !!! This is captivity on a major scale now a days

This zoo really needs to be doing what they can to place Gentaro in a new home before he hurts Genki or Kintaro. Hes telling by his actions hes needing it.

From what I know, the Chiba zoo may be taking Gentaro, but they have to remodel their gorilla habitat to accommodate more-I think currently there are only 2 gorilla's there and one is isolated from the other as she was human reared. There also has to be planning stages to do so, plus the woes of a pandemic, so in the meantime, we just have to wait and hope no harm comes to Genki or Kintaro while they settle on a place for him.

Man, this is the worst fight I've seen yet between the two of them. I think Gentaro will need to move pretty soon before he seriously injures Genki, but I'm glad she's holding up alright with Kintaro 😐

Iga, it may not hurt her physically, but her nerves are already broken genki. She always walks looking back, expecting the worst. She is very sad, although many are amused by the situation.

I'm not trying to turn Gentaro into a human, these animals are very smart. Saw him crying his eyes out on a video yesterday. Don't know what happened to him. I just feel sorry for the little guy. He will be gone soon. Genki loves her Gentaro, she grooms him some times What did you think i meant??? Just wondering.
