He's just not a fighter in the tournament. @@ripmax333 yes. Jax only started losing his arms in the second timeline of MK9 (Ermac). Then Goro (this movie) and Sub-Zero (the live adaptation film of 2021). In the original timeline, it was never specified if he had his arms removed or he simply had cybernetic prostheses on them. In MK: Annihilation, they are just cybernetic prostheses. He still has his arms. I don't know if he ever appeared on MK Conquests (never saw this tv series). There is yet no mention of Jaxx in the third timeline, as far as I know.

Scorpion interfering and killing Goro ruined the original Liu Kang storyline. Watching Liu Kang struggle against Goro only to be rescued by Scorpion threw the entire franchise arc off.
