Great review. I was psyched to see this version. I, too, tried to remove the frame sheet (couldn’t) and feared I wouldn’t get it back in (if I got it out) as I found it stiff against my back. So it was a pass for me. Still nice to see Goruck changing it up. Darn, I wish a top outer pocket was standard. P.S. I really like the end when you rec similar bags.

Thank you for watching! Probably a good call not removing the frame sheet, I’m still struggling to get mine back in (thankfully the bag feels nice without it so I’ve just left it out). Agree on the top quick access pocket, so useful on some of their other bags so it would be awesome to that be added to this one eventually and glad to hear the recommendations section has been helpful :)

Very nice video, I finally bought a favorite coyote colored bullet laptop. Some people say that the 500D is a bit stiffer than the 1000D, but that's okay. I'll have an answer in 10 days. Before that, I had Y mysterious ronch21L as an EDC, which was actually a bit too big, and I have been looking for a 16L EDC one after another. And as an EDC, you can open the bag to take water bottles or other small items anytime, anywhere. And hiking bags and sports bags need to access water bottles and sundries without stopping. A plug-in molle is required. And I don't plan to increase the external space. Both your phone and your keys can find a home in your cloth pocket. thanks Danny

Great review as usual! Have been toying with the idea of getting a GoRuck for awhile but was always put off by the price. This seemed like a great combo of minimal EDC and lower price compared to the GR1, so I bit the bullet (pun intended) and bought one of these a few months ago. The low amount of organization did take a bit of getting used to, but with some adjustments (I used a Mission Workshop Internal Tool Roll for cords and such in the front external pocket and attached the smallest size Matroskya mesh pouch from Alpha One Niner to the d-ring in the main compartment), it's now perfectly suited to the gear I regularly carry in a small-EDC situation. I will agree that the straps tend to slide back often, and because of my shoulder/chest shape they end up digging into my armpits and underarms more than I'd like, so I think I may use a sternum strap I've got laying around to see what that does for comfort. Thanks for the idea! If GR were to add some sort of mesh to the back panel, the quick access top pocket from their Heritage line, and 2-3 rows of MOLLE on the sides (for external water bottle holders), I think this would be in the top 3 15-20L size packs. As it is, I'm probably gonna keep it for light rucking at the very least.

Thank you for watching and for the support! Sounds like you put together a solid setup with the bag, I like the idea of using the matroskya pouch with the d ring, and agree on the suggestions of adding some side molle and the top quick access pocket!

Great review. I have a 15L Bullet and a Whitley. I grab the Bullet more often than the Whitley. It's a great size, and I like the simple layout of GoRuck bags. Don't know if I'll buy a 16L Bullet or a GR1.
@dannypacks2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and I agree on the simple layout! Definitely a tougher choice now between the bullet and the gr1, if you have a 15 bullet it might feel a little similar to the 16 imo

Hi Danny! I have a Recycled Firefighter Battalion 12h and is very similar to the Goruck Bullet. It doesnt have a laptop compartiment (I like that way, if a need to carry my laptop, I put in a sleeve inside the main compartment) but has a front pocket with 3 dividers. Is 1000D cordura (kind over for this bag). And they recently launched a TACTACKLE, same size, 100D Nylon instead Cordura and, 1/3 of the price ($ 69, nice😀)

Thank you for watching and good call out! I really like recycled firefighter bags and they are a solid alternative (going to be releasing a video on their 24hr plus backpack soon!)

Bought the Goruck Bullet 15 in Coyote years ago and then saw they released a black/orange version so I sold my old one and bought that one. Now they come out with a laptop sleeve 😅.

Thank you for watching and I definitely understand the struggle! It’s been the same for me with some of the gr1 and gr2 models haha

I believe this bag also has a function as a Rucker bag. Therefore it is has a D ring and hydration hole which prevents the addition of a quick-access-pocket.

Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! I believe this model was made in Vietnam. Some models of their rucks are made in the US tho, it looks like the features section of the bag on their site usually calls out made in the us for those models

Would the laptop sleeve fit a 15.6 laptop?
@ShoelessPoimen Жыл бұрын
As always a great review Danny. Thank you for all the effort you put into your videos. Question on the interior. Do you think a 12.3" iPad Pro or a slim Bible would fit in the back interior pocket that is traditionally a Ruck Plate pocket? Currently use that pocket on my GR2 26L to put my iPad and a slim Bible but the pocket on the Bullet Ruck seems like it may not work for either since it has no stretch. Or is it possible to fit a 13" Macbook and the iPad in the laptop sleeve together?
@dannypacks Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and for the support! Although the pocket on this one isn’t as elastic / padded as the one on the gr1/gr2 and is just a simple slip pocket it should still be able to hold either the iPad or the slimmer bible but maybe not both in the pocket at the same time

@@dannypacksI’d be curious how much more you think the GR1 21L holds? EG could you fit an additional Medium Peak Design packing cube, or two small ones? Would be great to get a sense of how much bigger the ACTUAL capacity is in the GR1 21L as the dimensions are fairly similar. Thanks so much.

Hey Danny, another great review. I've also been interested in that smaller form factor from GORUCK, how much does it weigh empty?
@dannypacks2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dean! I’ve definitely been surprised by how much this size can hold, the weight of the bag itself is listed at about 2.6 lbs so not the lightest but pretty good by goruck standards :)
@PackingLess2 жыл бұрын
@@dannypacks not bad for goruck yeah, I used to have one of their old bags called the “shadow ruck” which was a paired down version of the gr1 and it only weighed something like 1.9lbs (900g) and about 25L. I wish they’d bring back that lightweight range, because it had the most comfortable straps when it was fully packed
@dannypacks2 жыл бұрын
@@PackingLess I had forgotten about the shadow rucks! never had a chance to try them but seems like an interesting concept, looks like goruck is experimenting with some new designs so maybe it will make a comeback =)

How did the bag feel without the frame sheet? I used to have the regular 15l bullet and loved the way it felt on my back, this one just seems too stiff. When you removed the frame sheet did it feel more like the 15 L to you?
@dannypacks2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! I think the bag feels fine without the frame sheet so far, feels pretty close to the Kaidan I used in the past and with the bonus of more padding on the lower backs and the laptop sleeve!

Its very well made but seriously, overpriced as hell and the external pocket its useless. Cant understand why goruck dont build in some dimension into it and a water bottle sleeve on the side, instead you have pay 30$ for a molle attachment. They sure knows how to make money 😉 Love the heritage collection, but thats too expensive for me. Great review 🙂🙂 thanx

I have never been a fan of the Go Rucks...minimal organization, materials seem inferior for such high prices...it's not really an EDC, but more military to carry your ammo. And again way overpriced.
