Looks good when compressed, but, when expanded, it looks bad and seems like it would not be comfortable to carry.

I like this one. Except the expansion is maybe a bit too much. Better if they made it a little smaller. I'd have bought this one had it been available in Europe. But because it's not, I got able carry daily plus instead.

I'm surprised by your categories of travel shoes - they are too style oriented in my opinion, having multiple categories of sneakers for example. I think of travel shoes mostly on what walking situations would benefit from a different type of footwear. Most of the time I try to keep it down to one pair of shoe, the "walking all day" shoe. Of course there are situations where I might bring other categories of footwear. If a lot of beach time or super hot temperatures are on the itinerary, I would bring sandals. If the trip is solely to hot temperature locations, the sandals might be the only footwear I bring on the trip. If an important formal event (like a wedding) is on the itinerary, I might pack a dressier shoe (to match a more formal outfit). I told a half-truth about only taking one shoe most of the time as I usually also pack a pair of disposable slippers - for the hotel room. I throw away the slippers before flying home. I might skip the slippers if traveling to east-Asia as hotels there always provide disposable slippers.

Between the Aer Travel pack 3 Small Ultra and the Tomtoc t73; Which do you think is better? I'm looking for a bag that allows me to carry my laptop & few tech items as well as some clothes and can double as a travel pack for a 2-3 days travel; I've been told that the Laptop compartment and the comfort of AER strap is top of the market; so that's really what I'm gearing towards; but based on your experience; can the tomtoc measure up?

I have the Pakt bag, I love the quality and organization of it but the main compartment is too divided making it difficult to use packing cubes, you have to pack most everything flat(my shoes are a real pain to fit in this bag) or bulky clothes are going to be really limited in how much you can take with you. It's best for maybe business travel, carrying a laptop, shirts you don't want to roll up(pack flat). After this trip I will likely sell it and find another pack as the Peak design doesn't really appeal to me.

Thanks, great comparison! You mentioned Tropicfeel Shell a few times but didn't include it in the comparison. Any reason why? It seems like Tropicfeel's Hive (2.0), Nest (2.0) and Nook would also all fit quite well in your comparison category (their Shelter is also very expandable but its 30L basis is quite a bit larger than everything you're comparing here)😄

I base my footwear on hierarchy of activities. Basically if it's a hiking trip with some sight seeing I will go with a hiking shoe that is usually in a more subdued colour like a black. You can usually wear more adventure intensive shoes for less intense activities but not the other way around (also exceptionally specialized shoes like rock climbing or ballet don't count).

At least currently the wardrobe is not included in the purchase of the backpack, but the starting price is lower, and you can either add the wardrobe to your cart while purchasing the backpack, or even buy the wardrobe standalone.

Hey Danny, love your channel! I used a Bellroy venture ready pack for years as my Travel bag and EDC/work bag and it was great, but just a bit big for EDC. I just got the CTB20 and have done a weekend trip, and it was great, and perfect EDC size. CTB20 is one of the best bags I’ve ever had.

This has been the perfect travel pack for my wife and me for our flights and getaways. It is big enough to add more stuff but small enough to fit under the seat. It ticks all those checkmarks for me: outside stuff sack, water bottle holders, capacity, compartments/organization, waist strap (big plus), and high quality. I wish this bag had a slip pocket for carrying it on a luggage handle when we also use our carry-on luggage. It wasn't a showstopper, though. We love these bags, and they fit the bill.
@sashinger52302 күн бұрын
Great bag for sure, but as you also pointed out, I don’t get why nearly all their backpacks are so short but have rather much depth which leads to more weight pulling away from the back. It also looks odd if you’re a bigger guy. That’s what I love about Able Carry packs: Even the Daily Plus still has 49cm in height. 👌

The CTB format is the best format for a backpack for EDC and minimal travel. (I say this tongue in cheek because everyone's packing style and needs are different.) What convinced me to become an Evergoods fanboy was the yoke "quick access pocket." I have the PLC20 and the CPL16. Both have drawbacks to the pocketing that simply doesn't work for my carry. For example, the CPL16 cannot carry the CAP2L and properly close; this was a game killer for me. The PLC20 could, but the issue with the yoke pocket covering the laptop sleeve was increasingly annoying. I only use the PLC20 for excursions where I'm not taking any tech (besides my cellphone) with me. Why don't you do a video comparing the CPL16, PLC20 and the CTB20? You would do an awesome job comparing packing formats, styles and philosophies. "Choosing the right pack for your packing style.

Can you expand a bit on how the CPL16 can't fit a cap 2? I've preordered one from Mukama and am now reconsidering...

My Ecohub 20L measures 16"x10x8 and 18oz (40cmx25x30 and 510g). Which is exactly 20L. The CTB20 is slightly bigger in all three dimensions and almost three times heavier - but still has the same volume? Looks like it tapers down somewhat instead of a straight up rectangle? Also curious if a framesheet is truly needed on a small pack - unless one is carrying compact but heavy gear? For me, I would likely remove it and save some weight. And in your case, Danny, that might actually improve carrying comfort for you?
@dannypacksКүн бұрын
Thank you for watching! Definitely curious to check out that eco hub backpack and that’s a good call on the frame sheet, probably not as necessary on a bag of this size
@ChrisCarries_EDC2 күн бұрын
For the back digging try removing the frame sheet and replacing it with the same foam that's in the MPL22 - just need to cut it to size. I did that on my CPL24 and it's eliminated the hard edge that you can feel on your lower back.

might as well buy a mpl22 and save the hassle 😅

And again a hard no go: Easy to open single zipper, without a "garage" against moisture and rain ... for a laptop!? Extreme easy for a pick pock to steal a very expensive item if one wears it like a backpack.
@wax-ecstatic3 күн бұрын
They have options to improove this greatly. IMO I think it needs side handles as well, even if it's just on one side. If I toss this in a bag vertically, that handle would work out great. I have a cheapo $15 "tech organizer" from TEMU (I think it's a tomtoc dupe) that has a side handle and it's great. What I think would take this to the next level is if they took their comparison to the CAP2 even further and just copied that design for a Vertex 2.0. Oh, and I would have preferred the middle section to be zippered instead of just a magnet.
