Thanks for the in depth review, mine comes next week and I'm pretty excited. I kind of like that it doesn't have the cover on the front, gives you the flexibility to easily change the tightness of the vest during a workout depending on what you're doing. I always have it looser during Murph when not running.

I just ordered the vest and I’m interested in the sandbags. How are they? Can you make them heavier than 10lbs?
@tawaitai2 жыл бұрын
I would guess that gravity would force sand to bottom with movement and make it somewhat uncomfortable or bulged? Let us know how it worked out with sand bags👍🏽

Can’t wait to get this one because the standard plate carrier with the weight in the back is kind of annoying for long rucks because the straps start digging into your sides!!

Great review man. I’m actually going to send my GoRuck plates back now. I like the Echo plate idea. I, as well, am very curious about why they wouldn’t have the flap in front that flops down and why they wouldn’t load the plates from the top. All around good product tho.

Nice review. Answered all my questions I had about the item, I do wonder if there's much of a difference in perceived balance when you put the 30# in the front and 20# in the back of vice versa?
@Rucking3 жыл бұрын
I didn't think about it when I was loading. Just threw them in. But, yeah, I bet is feels different and makes workouts different based on loading. That might be fun to play around with.

I have the weight vest and i have switched out 20/30 plates like you said and it makes a notable diff. I have noticed it is better to have the heavier weight on your back as it makes breathing a bit easier. Also when doing push ups the heavier weight being on your back is more natural than it being on your chest and hanging down.
@tawaitai2 жыл бұрын
@@cdh3671 logically 20 front and 30 rear makes sense, although I would prefer it balanced.

@Rucking3 жыл бұрын
Ultimately depends on what you want to do. I look at the RPC as a ruck without the ruck. If you're looking at CrossFit type stuff, weight vest is better.
@tawaitai2 жыл бұрын
Are you able to move the inner velcro flap to the underside and flip-up forward over cummerbund to secure plate and also protect and have a cleaner look?
@Rucking2 жыл бұрын
No. The Velcro is only on one side and so there isn’t a way to connect it like you describe. That said I have grown to appreciate the ability to adjust the tightness during the middle of a run or a work out. If I had it pulled up like you described I would not have the ability to make any adjustments.

Hey Ruck Dot Beer, how would you compare this to the backpack style Go Ruck product? I’m in the market and have heard guys talk about how the backpack style seems to be better overall for back/spine/posture versus the vest. Also, can you use this weight vest for a Go Ruck event? Thanks for your info and the effort you put into your channel!
@Rucking Жыл бұрын
For a GORUCK event you have to have a backpack. Doesn’t have to be GORUCK brand, but they are built for them. As for which is better for the spine/back/etc… they are just different. I doubt I could argue one is better in that regard. They are just different ways to carry weight. I prefer the vest for running and high intensity exercise because it is close to my body. For rucking, and goruck events, backpack is better.

Thanks for the review of this vest. Do you think there’s enough room to squeeze a 20lb echo plate and a 10lb echo plate in the same compartment? Trying to find a way around Rogue not offering a 30lb echo plate. Thanks!

Probably.

Can you use this to ruck and also train? Or Do you need two separate vests for each activity?
@Rucking Жыл бұрын
On a very technical level rucking is walking with a weighted backpack. The fact that the vest has weight on the front and the back “technically “isn’t rucking. But, if we’re not splitting hairs, and you can get the vest heavy enough for yourself then yeah you’re going to get a lot of benefit from walking with a weighted vest.

Hey man, great review. Got my vest in and couldn't work out logistics, so I appreciate the hell out of this video. I do have a few questions for you, if you wouldn't mind: 1) I noticed you put the 30 in front and the 20 on the back. I was wondering about that -- like why not the heavier plate on the back? Or does it even matter? 2) Following that same reasoning: does the vest necessarily *need* a plate in front and back simultaneously, like for a balanced load? I had the idea I could just pop a 30lb plate into the back, cinch up, and go get a ruck in..... like the plate carrier. [I'm still waiting for my 2x) 30lb plates to arrive. I have a 45lb from GoRUCK that I use in my Rucker 25L, along with a couple 20's from Titan Fitness that are too long to fit this vest.] 3) Last question. I'm a medium sized guy -- not skinny, not enormous -- about a 46" chest. I tried it on and it fit fine without weights. I noticed there are adjustable buckles on the shoulders, and that you can access the Velcro shoulder straps from under the back flap if you want to adjust height. Any real reason to fool with that? (I'd rather not...lol). Thanks in advance man. Anything I can do to show my appreciation, let me know.
@Rucking3 жыл бұрын
1. I didn't think about it for the video. Just happened that way. I think you can mix it up and it will give you a different stimulus. Constantly varied is the spice of life. 2. Could work. But, I have a ruck plate carrier (and a ruck) if I want to do that. 3. Only mess with it if you need to. If using the GORUCK plates, they'll fill up the space a lot more than the Rogue. It is a pretty big difference. Adjust as needed.
