Great video! Its funny - since I've subbed just recently - and now I am binging through your vids, to see that this must be the first video that you are talking directly to the camera in this kind of format. Really nice video. Well... More videos to watch.

Ha cheers - can't remember when I actually started talking to the camera! 😂👊

Yes, that's the third vid I have heard complaints about the cold. I am having profound doubts Andy's Toon credentials.

Really informative video Andy, few questions if I may? Did I notice you put some material behind the timbers on the wall? What were they? Also, dumb one probably, how were you drilling screws straight through the timber into the walls without pre drilling? Were you just going into the mortar?

Hi andy, I've trying to find a solution how to reduce sounds when I am using my power tools in my shed with out disturbing thy neighbour .i have to wait certain time to do my DIY stuff.i can't find any information in regards to reduce the sound of by power tools.pls advice
@GosforthHandyman5 жыл бұрын
I hate to tell you but sheds are really difficult to soundproof. The outer shell of the shed is so thin they normally provide little to no sound insulation. You can line the inside with thick MDF but it still won't be even close to soundproof. 👍

Hi, do you use plasterboard at all, or only use mdf, please? Whilst saving to convert a garage, all the videos show plasterboard but mdf seems a really such a brilliant idea, please advise if there are any negative aspects to using mdf. Great video.
@GosforthHandyman3 жыл бұрын
If it's a conversion that needs building regs approval you'd need to check fire rating. Obviously MDF is flammable but plasterboard isn't. 👍

Hi Andy, great video - I am currently doing something very similar and just curious as to why you decided to split the garage length-wise rather than width wise? (if that makes sense lol).
@GosforthHandyman4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Mark! With it split this way I have 2 walls on the 'garage' side to put stuff against / hang stuff on. If it was split the other way I'd lose the area where the garage doors are - plus I really don't need 2 garage doors so makes sense to turn one in to an extra wall to store more unnecessary junk on. 😂👍

Hi Andy, Why would you use MDF over plasterboard/plaster ? I'm looking at building a false tv wall and a friend has suggested MDF over conventional plasterboard/plaster

Hi - have a look at the vid I've just put out today. All explained. 👍

What camera are you using? The footage looks great.
@GosforthHandyman8 жыл бұрын
Cheers dude - the better footage is with my Canon 650D with a Sigma 18-35mm lens. 'On the job' footage (so to speak) is generally crappy Flip cameras, they're on their last legs though.

hi, great work. Is there a specific reason for the L brackets on the studs as opposed to skew nail/screwing?
@GosforthHandyman8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, glad you asked! :-) A few reasons but mainly since it's easier to get L-brackets in exactly the right location, which was fairly critical with the MDF panels. As the panels themselves are fairly structural here the L-brackets were just the easiest option.
@GosforthHandyman7 жыл бұрын
Oh, and (what a nonce I am!) the main reason is so that it's easy to take everything down if I ever move or whatever. This wall is fairly temporary in the scheme of things. :-)
