Why are we constantly surprised and angry when our sinful children behave like... well, sinners? Do we respond to their forgetfulness, bad habits, childish behavior and even sins with the same grace that God gives to us? Or do we retaliate with irritation and anger because our plans, our comfort, or our pride has been upset by their behavior?
In this clip from "Wretched Radio" (July 5, 2013), Todd Friel comments on a discussion between Paul David Tripp ("Age of Opportunity") and Elyse Fitzpatrick ("Give Them Grace") and argues that we don't need another guide on "12 Steps To Get Better Children" or a new formula of "good parenting in, good kids out". Gospel-centered parenting is about who we want our children to BE, not how we want them to BEHAVE. The more like Christ we become, and the more we preach the gospel to ourselves, the better we will be able to respond to our children with grace and point them to the same Jesus who saves sinners like us.
