something I have noticed with most of my favorite black drummers( this guy, chambers, beauford) is that the ride the hi hats with their left hand. is there an advantage to this? I am a decent rock drummer that plays in church. Our music isn't this syncopated though. I love this feel. Awesome video for sure!

I believe its 14" hihats, but these hats are Zildjian, 'K Zildjian' K/Z SPECIAL HIHATS to be precise. The K Zildjian top gives the hihats its crisp, plain, dryness. And the Z custom bottom gives those hi-hats that projection, heaviness and definition it has...

nope. he's right-handed. he just plays open-handed because from young learnt on a left-handed setup. and when he realized it was wrong. he switched the setup back but since he could play both ways. he prefers to use open-handed. but on some occasions you can see him playing cross-handed.
