Laughing at all these comments! People who don't understand he's not playing a gig, just drumming to a backing track. Love the playing over the bar line. Love this guy. People should love this guy!
@SupermanStandifer3 жыл бұрын
You’ll never get a gig playing like this. Plus it’s hard on the listener so why upload it?

I've only recently discovered gospel drumming, and I think the majority of the players I've seen are incredible. There is an emphasis on the pocket and using broken fills between the hands and feet over the bar line (doubles, three over two, three over one, etc.) which simulates a sort of Pro Tools-esque splicing effect on drums. I've gleaned a great deal of ideas and inspiration from these guys. Thank God for gospel drummers....
@lewhossofdoom14 жыл бұрын
Your a fucking inspiration man. As soon as I see you play and hear you drum I just wanna play the drums all night long even though I have a test tomorrow

@drumz3614 жыл бұрын
@Qalstootel They are Peavey drums, I believe......they have outer wood hoops to accept the tension rods, as opposed to metal hardware on the drums.
@LeoSypniewskiMusic16 жыл бұрын
wow not only is he in the pocket, but he turned the pocket inside out til all the change fell out. impressive stuff right here. the footwork and rudimentary fills are astounding.

@conjigalo15 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you would call these type of drummers "gospel drummers" But they most ceratinly have the best style and groove in my opinion. I have learnt from a rock back ground, and all i want to learn/listen to is this style. I love it :D

RnB drummer does more than a 1 bar 16th note fill and everyone thinks hes out of time..... Count along with him his timing is spot on for the most part.

Yeah, i like how he goes over the bar too.. that hihat sound is wicked..i love it! very good playing...

Thanks brothers...you guys really set new benchmarks for drumming!!!!
@Mugenloo17 жыл бұрын
They're just normal heads, probably Remo or Evans. The thing that makes them look different are just the suspension mounts on the toms. Its so they vibrate individually rather than being really tightly stuck to something heavy like the Bass Drum, that can kill the sound. And i'm not too sure but that kit looks like a GMC.

it's true a lot of guitar players try to do the same thing, it's a hard technique to master and jbass does a great job. to some people it may sound bad but, it's completely fine in my ears

just experiment mang. I set my seat height based on how my foot feels on the kick. Sometimes i like sitting low because i feel a little funkier like kicking way back in the seat while you are driving a car. Sometimes a feel the kick is easier to approach from a higher hip level.

The pedal is a DW (i don't know, looks like a DW 9000) About the snare, i think it is the same model of the drum, and the drumhead is a Remo Black X Suede The Hi-Hat is a Sabian 14" HHX Fusion Hi-Hat... okay, is everything i know, lol.

@TwoKindsOfRight yes they are. but someone told me they dont make em anymore.. so you gotta find someone that wants to sell such a kit (which is unlikely i think haha)
@Bango6115 жыл бұрын
Whoever says his fills are out of time has no idea what they're talking about. Syncopation and playing on the up beat are very important for a drummer, unless you just wanna play rock n roll.
@BrynnerAgassi18 жыл бұрын

This guy is amazing and all, but no one in their right mind would hire him for a recording session. Amateur ears will get thrown off by his upbeat fills and syncopation. Hes got some sort've weird/original style going on. Props to him.

That's talent when you can shed then fall back in pocket plus jam with a song. Then he all calm wit it.
@MinJohnX15 жыл бұрын
Mystro I'm with you man. I'm not real big on pushing beliefs either but if the scenario was reversed, i.e. if the church came all up in the club singing amazing grace, then they would get all kinds of upset and go to calling people holy rollers and Jesus freaks. All I'm saying is there is a time and a place for everything and in the house of God it's NEVER a time nor is it EVER the place for this. Nuff said. No comeback necessary.

@1stclassrecordings16 жыл бұрын
hey, mr. sigma. When someone plays like he plays with filling in any empty spot, that's just shed style. shed is like a jam session, but more a of show-off spot, the "overkill" is intended purposely

@moderatoe thank you for being the only person that has some fully functional ears
@rijnmarmusic13 жыл бұрын
@ScitsoWilkerson dude these are no fills, these are chops. you dont play em when needed, they+re a part of the beat/groove you play. and thats why it's such a complex way of drumming: you dont play your skills in fills that you've practiced at home. You play the chops during the whole time and use the basics of the chops to express your feelings during the song. so that means you play the basic (like a paradiddle) on other parts of the drumkit then you practiced at home. you play what u feel.
