Today, I was begging God to help me to put Him and His Kingdom first and help me to eliminate any idols in my life that kept me from him. I was pouring my heart out to Him telling Him that I felt like I wasn't going to be able to study his word properly, that i was so overwhelmed by how much there was to learn and how I can't really go to a church right now (my parents are Hindus and I haven't told them that I am Christain yet) and i was going through this journey alone and i was just so overwhelemd, but i found this video and i think God led me to it, God is so faithful and good! Dear Pooja, I am a youth leader in my church and had experience same thing with one of my youth. She was a secret Christian and her family was really strict about their HINDU religion and we had to face a lot of challenges through the course of time. But after 7 years of prayers and dedication a miracle happened and her all family all of the family members believed in Christ and now they are a happy family huge joint family in Christ. I was a christian in my younger years. As I hit 16-19 yrs old I started to disbelieve and stray away from God and question if it was real. After going to church however and watching these videos it made me remember how beautiful the bibles stories are and how beautiful God is. It made me realize that this is the moral framework our society as a whole has been straying from and we need it back! God has a plan for all of us... I want to be a christian again!

Elizabeth, can you point to any verse in the NT where the Jews got it right about Jesus? I can't. Yet we are being told they got it right here in spite of the testimony of Jesus in vs 4 where He states that Lazarus' condition it is for the glory of God so that the Son of God may be glorified through it, and in vs 42 where He states that they (the people present) may believe that you sent me. This video is only an overview, to really understand the verses, or any verse, one has to get to the meaning of the individual Greek words used. For instance the Greek word John used for Jesus weeping is different than the Greek word he used for everyone else in the passage.

Many Jews didn't get it right and/or refused to however SOME Jews DID, otherwise there wouldn't have been a Church composed of both Believing Jews and Gentiles, and GOD wouldn't still be adding to it those who are being saved.

@@elizabeths4371 There are jews and there are Jews in Scripture. Jesus was a jew, a member of the common folk, while He walked among us, but He was not a Jew. The capital "J" on the word Jew was put there not so much by literary rules as it was by God for the attitude of the members of this succinct group themselves. They were proud and arrogant as any Pharisee because they were God's "chosen" people not like the gentile dogs that they had to interact with or even the poor, illiterate people who were constantly defiling their religious purity. They could not see the log in their own eye, so they could also not see Jesus for who He is. Yet we are led to believe that they got it right in a Gospel where the Apostle John is trying to show the Jesus is the Christ, the son of God? See Martha's testimony in 11:27 or just read the first chapter of John's Gospel. This does not discount, nor am I trying to discount, the work that the Bible project is doing which will, God willing, affect thousands of unbelievers in their search for truth. We don't get the truth all at one time which is why it is called a search. Then again, our puny minds couldn't even comprehend the truth all at once. We do, on the other hand, get the Truth (John 14:6) all at once.

I just watched again Bible Project’s animated video on The Gospel of John, Part One. Today, something different stood out for me, and I was very moved. It was in the very first part that discussed the existence of the pre-incarnate Christ - His presence as the “Word” in Creation, and His presence in the Exodus as the Tabernacle of God. This impacted me differently as I pondered the glory of God’s ultimate revelation of Himself in Jesus Christ. It’s a moment of grace when the Holy Spirit provides a fresh revelation of Scripture. That happened to me this morning. A “glimpse behind the curtain”, so to speak, of the glory of God. thank you, Bible Project, for your faithful handling of the Word of God, and thank you, Lord, for Your gracious Spirit.

The book of John is a myth written about a Jesus that was a gentle Jew who was unable to be filled with the Holy Spirit, for only those of the house of Israel and the house of Judah are able to receive according to the book of Joel.He was rejected in death when he died for the sins of the whole world when the Lord God of Israel died just 24 hours later. Gerald Collins Wow. You seem to have quite an argument there. But I disagree. Jesus was the son of God who died on the cross for the sins of those who believe him. Anyways all of the gospels fit together while they were written by different people. Which leads me to my next point, Jesus did not write the gospel. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John did. That is why Jesus is presented in 3rd person. I hope you get this.

I just made the connection! Jesus and Lazarus’ relationship is symbolic of his relationship with his children now. Jesus knew raising him would cost him his own, but the pure love he had for his friend was so strong that he did it anyway. Jesus!

Notice something really cool. I am a Bible student at a college in my home state, and we have been taught that 7 is the number of completion and so therefore kinda makes it the Lords number. I thought it was cool that in the beginning of John, Jesus was given 7 titles, who describe Him perfectly. Though it was cool, nothing life altering but cool.

The section on Lazarus was very enlightening. I had never considered that raising Lazarus was, in essence, also a sacrifice. To return to Jerusalem, at His own pace, not only allowed the crowd to be certain of Lazarus's death, and subsequent resurrection, it demonstrated Christ's divinity as healer, as life-giver and sacrificial lamb, for His friend and friends (humanity). Thank you for this tiny, overlooked detail.

You guys are doing a great job! I'm a pastor in France and love the quality videos. I do have however a suggestion for improving: you could introduce each video with a small caveat: "This is a way of organizing the book that makes lot's of sense, but it's not perfect. You need to study the book on your own to see that _____ (insert name of Bible book) is even richer than we can show in this video." I say this because, the danger of these wonderful videos is that they become the standard ways of understanding a book for many christians and the sleek presentations don't show the complexity of some of the divisions. Take the example of John 1-12 (the video I'm commenting): • You could seriously argue whether the "Sacred well" in Samaria (John 4) is really a "Jewish institution". • Organizing the book in 4 Jewish institutions and then 4 Jewish Feasts ignores what John himself calls Jesus' Second Sign (Jn 4:54) • In a similar fashion, having summarized things into 4 Jewish Feasts makes it very unclear what is the purpose of John 10a where Jesus says he is the Good Shepherd. I'll stop there. No idea if you'll read this. Please DON'T take it as a negative feedback. It's a brother who loves your videos and just is concerned that your massive influence in the world is the best it can be!
