[edit: I'm Redeemed Zoomer btw] Love this! I know that the moment I was born again wasn't the moment I started believing God existed (that was well before). It also wasn't the moment I fully understood the Gospel of salvation by grace alone (that was well after). It was when I suddenly saw my life and the world completely differently through the lens of Christ, and I made Christ my identity. That was it.

@@simonskinner1450 no. He was a man. Any man (Jew or Gentile) can be born again. Roman 11:13-15
@simonskinner14505 жыл бұрын
@@Goldni8372 that is true. But Nicodemus was under the law of righteousness at the time, and he still had to attain to the law of righteousness by faith, now faith in Christ. He already had an upbringing as a Jew, and already was aware of the Torah and only needed to believe in Jesus as the Son of God. Just a small change from a ceremonial and civil works based religion of circumcision, where there was teaching and obedience, to the same but spiritual obedience of the righteousness of the old law. That is why St Paul taught so much old testament to the Gentiles, and a lookalike religion of Judaism of many commandments. Such as Romans 13:8. Being born again when you are a Jew is to have already been born a Jew, so a Gentile needs to be a Spiritual Jew, grafted into the Jews religion. You cannot be a born again Christian without circumcision of the heart, and that comes from scripture, that is the old testament making a Gentile into a Judaeo Christian.

@@Goldni8372 Amen to becoming a new creature. But Jesus was a born again Jew, not a born again Christian. I am a Judaeo Christian taught in the old testament baptised into the new testament. Jesus as a Jew brought the Logos of God the Father, to mentor Jews and Gentiles how to be righteous, as the Jews failed by faith. So the gospel message relied on old testament teaching, and from heartfelt faith receiving the Holy Spirit. We are to be Jews inwardly by faith, and observe the law of righteousness, and sanctify ourselves as Jesus did. I have not read either of the writers you mention but I study the KJV. So from one new man to another. Have a good day.

Amazing Sermon! I took out few things: 1) The common thing is to get baptized and the Holy Spirit. But rarely heard about being Born Again. “Being Born again you get to SEE the kingdom of God” now, how would you know you are Born Again human? (Born Again brings from heaven to earth like living if that make sense) While you read the gospel, you will rarely get it or believe that’s the gospel. Get bored quickly (As it happened in my past) Now that you’re Born Again, your heart posture turns, like now God’s word make completely sense. You “feel” something as you read. That is God’s love to you! Without this, you will seek all the attention from people, money, volunteering, self righteous for being the best or the most moral, or even family. You will seek to reach this or other people’s expectations of you. (That’s a pressure of itself) but your identity is received, not achieved. God is your Lord and your Father ♥️

I was baptised hours after my birth just like my mother her mother and her mother. Babies died more often then survived centuries ago and before during and after wars like the 1914 and 1939 wars so to make sure your baby saw Jesus Christ was to be baptised extremely as early as they could be. Then last week Wednesday my Pastor came to tell me how I could become a Member of the church ( totally different to my childhood and parenthood too) as 7 years ago it was incorporated so I needed to go through some paperwork. Now I had discussed what becoming a member entailed from other life long attending men and women and they didn’t understand where I was coming from? It was all about the incorporation date, after that occurred people needed to ‘join’. But then eventually he came to the fact that I had been baptised within 24 hours of my birth but that that was my parents choice for me not my own. I said I choice to be Confirmed some children in my class didn’t. So I wondered isn’t that when I accepted the Holy Spirit? I wish my Pastor had listened to your sermon Tim it would have made more sense to me. He kept tiptoeing about the membership he kept forgetting his word to contact me over and over. So last Sunday I asked him to come and meet me at my ‘90’ yo friend (I did discuss if that suited her- we live in the same 25 home village here in Eltham Victoria Australia 🇦🇺 and I had watched her husband’s funeral on line 2 years ago and I had a strong feeling I should invite her to come with me when I would attend her church- I believed if this couple chose this church then it was the church for me. they had in fact looked for another church after what had made them want to leave their church). I have been going to Our church for two years now and every Saturday evening I write a text with ‘Am I driving Miss Daisy tomorrow?’ Today with 39C pending after a 38C day and hot night she replied that she would attend via KZbin “WHAT “ wasn’t ready for that answer and I was listening to you and I have absolutely no hesitation about being baptised again. As the Irish would say ‘to be sure to be sure’. I am sure. It isn’t the Pastor it is the the time Colleen and I spent each week together for our Bible Study 📖. Colleen gave me Arthur’s Bible 😮what an incredible gift to give me. Her husband’s daily Bible. I receive Our Daily Bread as well. And signed up to Abide which along with Calm help me get a good nights rest. Being baptised and having all my children and their children there will I pray 🙏 lead them to Jesus Christ our Saviour. I thought that I could only be effectual at my own funeral with Gospel readings and songs. I love my children and theirs so much I can’t imagine I won’t have them near me when I pass into God’s hands 🙌. One daughter is so amazing raising 2 young men on the spectrum and her husband is also on the spectrum and she is the breadwinner and she is appreciated loved and respected by her fellow colleagues and so many other people she is connected too. I keep believing that her life is spot on to what Jesus asks of us but now I know that that isn’t enough to see God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Who ever reads this I pray that you pray 🙏 and think about my Baptism and that I will see and know even more after that moment so I can be the person to lead my loved ones to God and Eternal Life. God bless you all and have a safe and blessed day

irene stoffer Why Most Are Not Born Again or Filled With The Holy Spirit Do you really know what Jesus meant by being born again or born of the Spirit. Do you understand what it means to be born of God. The majority of believers have sought their wisdom of God and scripture from some preacher at a local church. Why this is wrong is because Jesus is alive, He has risen and He commanded you to follow Him. Jesus is our one and only teacher but yet most believers do not know how to communicate with Jesus since they never learned how to test the Spirits as instructed in 1 John 4. “It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” John 6:45 NKJV “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.” I John 4:1-6 NKJV Many believers have been taught that they are born again once they accept Jesus and they receive the Holy Spirit and this is completely false. Scripture does not actually state that! You did not instantly become more knowledgeable about God’s truth once you received His Spirit. You may have repented of your sins and Jesus forgave you but you are still an unclean believer because you can still sin. This is why you need to be sanctified in truth so that you can learn how to overcome sin and start living a Holy life. It is the job of the Holy Spirit to make you Holy just as Jesus was Holy but you need to do your part by surrendering your will to the Spirit. You can only follow the will of God for your life by understanding how to test the Spirits. Sadly this is where the majority of believers go astray and they become stagnant since most have never even heard about testing the Spirits. If you do possess the wisdom behind testing the Spirits then you must submit to the purification and sanctification process that God requires from all His disciples. It is a hard time consuming and even painful process because God has you take the devil head on. God does this so that you will learn how to overcome all of your fears by standing against the lies and the deceptions of the devil. This process is kind of like what Jesus had to endure when He fasted in the wilderness for 40 days and this is what Paul was referring to when me was talking about his thorn in the flesh. After you completed this process you are now Sanctified in God’s truth, you heart is now pure, and this is when you are now born again and full of the Holy Spirit. Why? Because now that your heart is pure you can never sin again since you are now an overcomer who is born of God and so you will now be allowed to SEE and ENTER the kingdom of God. Hence, “Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8 NKJV. This is how you go about experiencing heaven while living here on earth. Now some people have asked well what if someone dies and they were never sanctified or born again. Does this mean that they cannot get into heaven? Let me explain God’s process the best that I can. Once you accept Jesus into your life you now possess the Holy Spirit and you are then saved. Now only a very few will ever mature in the Spirit and experience the sanctified life that God desires for everyone and they will then receive rewards in heaven for their faith. The majority of believers will never grow in the Spirit since they will fall for one of Satan’s many deceptions and they will eventually fall away from truth and perish. Now there will be some believers who will continue in sin out of ignorance of truth but they will still end up in heaven without being born again in this here life. You see once they die to this earthly life their sinful flesh is now gone but their born of God Spirit remains and so then can now enter into heaven in their pure Spirit. They of course will never experience God’s heavenly blessing here on earth nor will they be receiving any rewards in heaven either. Now read these following scriptures and see how they all tie in with what I have just related. “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,” I Peter 1:22-23 NKJV “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot SEE the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot ENTER the kingdom of God.” John 3:3-5 NKJV “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.” I John 3:4-9 NKJV “We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.” I John 5:18-19 NKJV “According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” I Corinthians 3:10-15 NKJV So allow me now to explain to you what most do not understand. Once you accept Jesus into your life you are then anointed in the Holy Spirit, you are not born again and you are not Baptized in the Spirit or filled with the Holy Spirit. Upon accepting Jesus into your life you must now learn to communicate with Jesus and allow Him to purify and sanctify your heart in God’s truth. You do this through testing the Spirits. If you see God’s sanctification process all the way through then this is when you are born again here on earth. If you are born or God then you can no longer sin nor will you ever get sick since you are now filled with His Holy Spirit. “So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.” Exodus 23:25 NKJV

This new creature, called the Body of Christ, is neither Jewish nor Gentile, and operates not under the law (Rom 6:14; Gal 3:28). The new creature is the subject of the mystery of Christ and could not have been known by Nicodemus, the prophets, nor any of the apostles in John 3. Born again language is a denial of the mystery of Christ revealed to the apostle Paul. People who think they are born again must also think they are in some way Israel. Being born again is something for Israel to partake. Since Israel is fallen, you couldn’t be born again if you wanted to. What you can be is saved by God’s grace through faith in his finished work on the cross. At the moment you believe, the Holy Spirit seals you in Christ making you part of a new creature. Trusting the cross of Christ is what will save you today. Trusting your experience, devotion, or changed life will not. Being saved is far better than being born again. You're absolutely wrong. You must encounter the miracle of being spirit born again. You must hear the Holy Spirit call you, feel the deep, soft and gentle conviction from sin to repentance and surrender to the spirit's conviction. You must wrestle with the Holy Spirit and surrender to him. You must experience joy and peace beyond any Huma description immediately after yielding to the Spirit's conviction. Without this process and experience you're not born again. You're simply a fake Christian.

The baptism is the mikvah, the mikvah, in the temple, washes clean the sin… This is why Jesus is asking Nicodemus how he doesn’t know this - he’s a priest, he does this to people, he washed people all the time of their sins, so Jesus is saying “how do you not understand this? - think about it man!” God never tells us, he waits for us to seek Him out, and then spiritual truths will be revealed to us. ❤🕊️

In Acts ch.2 when Peter told the gathered crowd to repent and be baptized. .. for the remission of sins he was saying that for the remission of sins that repentance and water baptism are needed. The word " remission In the original N.T. Greek means" to restore something to its original condition". In obedience, by doing both, during water baptism our sins are forgiven by the Spirit circumcising our conscience and removing the guilt of past sins and restoring our conscience to its original childlike sensitivity to sin. It is basically accessing the Foregiveness that the Lord has given us on a personal basis. This puts repentance and water baptism solidly as part of the new birth and what the Lord meant when he said that we must be " born of water".

1 of 3 At 19:20 and at 20:25 Keller speaks about “one way to know” and “the mark of a born again person.” If you have to look to your works then it is no longer of grace: ROMANS 11:6 6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But IF IT BE OF WORKS, THEN IT IS NO MORE GRACE: otherwise work is no more work. The bible tells us clearly how we can know and it’s simply if we BELIEVE: 1 JOHN 5:11-13 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us ETERNAL LIFE, and THIS LIFE IS IN HIS SON. 12 HE THAT HATH THE SON HATH LIFE; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 THESE THINGS HAVE I WRITTEN UNTO YOU THAT BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God; THAT YE MAY KNOW that ye have ETERNAL life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. ************************************* At approx. 35:43 and 52:50 the question arises, “WHAT CAN I DO?” “WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?” There’s Tim Keller’s answer and then there’s the BIBLICAL answer: ACTS 16:29-31 29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED? 31 And they said, BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. The BIBLICAL answer to this question as clearly stated in this verse is simply BELIEVE. The Calvinists answer to this question is, “well actually sorry bro there’s actually nothing you can do you gotta be elected to believe first then God has to effectually call you and then He gives you the faith to believe.” If it was unconditional the answer would’ve been, “NOTHING. YOU’VE BEEN ELECTED.” But what was the answer? There was a CONDITION. What was the condition? THEY HAD TO BELIEVE. The condition was FAITH in Jesus Christ. He mentions the wind at 35:43: JOHN 3:6-8 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and THOU HEAREST THE SOUND THEREOF, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is BORN OF THE SPIRIT. **QUESTION: According to John 3:8 are we able to HEAR the wind? ANSWER: YES! **QUESTION: Where does the wind blow? ANSWER: EVERYWHERE! in other words salvation is available to ALL! *********************************** HOW is one born again? If Jesus Christ Himself gave us an analogy of salvation would we believe it? Because He does. And it’s recorded in John the in the account of Nicodemus and not the account of Lazarus. You must be born again, which is exactly what Jesus went on to tell Nicodemus! In response to his question He tells him clearly and plainly HOW. He must BELIEVE in the one who will be lifted up in on the pole. Just keep reading the whole chapter and Jesus Christ Himself clearly tells us how and gives us the perfect analogy.

The point is this: Many people say they believe, and many people are convinced they believe, but their works tell a different story. The Bible warns us that the human heart is wicked and deceitful above all things and cannot be trusted. The testimony of Scripture is that in being born again, we become a new creature in Christ Jesus. The things we once loved we now hate (specifically, sin) and the things we once hated we now love (specifically, The Lord). The Lord has predestined good works for all His children to do and we will love doing them, because we're a new creature in Christ Jesus. While anyone who says they no longer sin is a liar, we recognise as children of The Lord that we are no longer slaves to our sin and we resist or flee from temptation. A transformed life is an outward sign that The Lord has performed an inward miracle in that person's heart. One of the most frightening and sobering pages of the Bible is when Jesus warns us that on the day of judgement, many people will call out to Jesus and call Him "Lord" but they will be cast into Hell because they were never truly saved. Jesus warned that it is those who do the will of the Father who are saved. We must examine ourselves to see if our works really match up with our profession of faith. If we cannot demonstrate our faith by our works, then our faith is false and we have deceived ourselves.
@apilkey5 жыл бұрын
Christopher Smith The point is a true believer will show evidence of works IF they choose to walk in the spirit. The point is we’re saved by faith alone and we can’t look to fruit or works as evidence of our salvation. The point is we need to look to CHRIST as evidence of our salvation and trust completely in His finished work and not partially on our own. The point is we cannot judge based on what we think are works. The point is there’s a difference between FRUITS and WORKS. **The point is Abraham showed no evidence for 38 years so what’s the cutoff time for someone who’s truly saved showing evidence of their faith? The point is there is no cutoff time. The point is only God knows our hearts. ... I also forgot Samson. Did he show evidence of his faith when he was fornicating and murdering and committed suicide? Yet he was also listed in the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11: HEBREWS 11:32 32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of SAMSON, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Samson was listed as one of the heroes of the faith and was a Nazarite set apart and blessed of the Lord UNTIL HIS DEATH. Yet he was a fornicator, murdered and committed suicide so how can we really judge based on good works whether someone is really saved or not? JUDGES 13:5 5 For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: FOR THE CHILD SHALL BE A NAZARITE UNTO GOD FROM THE WOMB: and he shall begin to Israel out of the hand of the Philistines. JUDGES 13:7 7 But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: FOR THE CHILD SHALL BE A NAZARITE TO GOD FROM THE WOMB TO THE DAY OF HIS DEATH. JUDGES 13:24,25 24 And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and THE LORD BLESSED HIM. 25 AND THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD BEGAN TO MOVE HIM AT TIMES in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol. ... Samuel is a perfect example of someone who was set apart for the Lord and the Lord worked through him by the power of the Holy Spirit and yet at times Samson freely chose to suppress/quench the Spirit and walk in the flesh to fulfill his freshly desires. ************************************* ... I can se where you’re coming from that God’s grace is not an excuse to sin and yes if we have no spiritual conviction and there’s unrepentant habitual sins we continue in and feel no conviction over that yes we may want to question our salvation if it truly came from the heart. But to question it on fruits and works is not the same thing. ... If we really want to look at works then you might want to look at Christ’s standard. Have you forsaken ALL? If not then maybe you’re not truly saved: LUKE 14:33 33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that FORSAKETH NOT ALL that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. ************************************* ... or how about we look at the standard Jesus sets in Luke 18:18-23. Have you sold ALL and gave it ALL to the poor? Not some. Not 10%. Not 50%. Not 99%. ALL. LUKE 18:18-23 18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. 20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. 21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. 22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, YET LACKEST THOU ONE THING: SELL ALL THAT THOU HAST, AND DISTRIBUTE UNTO THE POOR, AND THOU SHALT HAVE TREASURE IN HEAVEN: AND COME, FOLLOW ME. 23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

Our salvation is not described as being born again into a second covenant, but being made alive into a new creature (Eph 2:15). Where Tim Keller is missing a link, is at 27:53; where do babies come from? a seed had to have been planted (in the ground, in the womb, in the heart)... no matter what a mother does to prepare in the interim of the baby's birth: God gives the growth. It's not the planter of the seed (aka the word of God) or the one who waters the seed, who gets the glory for growth: it's God who gets the glory for the growth - just like when someone is born again - God gets the glory. The parable of the sower can help describe the pre-birth conditions. Being born of water and the spirit, indicates that one must be born through the water of the Word of God: the gospel is preserved in the Word of God; for someone to believe the Word of God - they must hear it: someone must preach it - there is a washing of water through the word (Ephesians 5:26) that takes place, because faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God - and we are SAVED by grace through FAITH. Someone HAS to preach the word of God - to help a sinner come to the knowledge of the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ - they must be washed by the word! when a person understands the word of God as truth, God must give them a new heart and a new spirit: born of water (the word) and the Spirit. Jesus describing the new birth, as a baby being birthed helps provide the complete picture of what's being described throughout scripture: God is glorified. The planting of the seed and the new birth go hand in hand.
@robertnieten72593 жыл бұрын
The new birth consists of being born of water and Spirit. "Water" in John 3:5 , is the water of baptism not the water of the Word. The Word " seed" inseminates and cleanses it doesn't give birth. In Acts 2:38 Peter said," Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit". Repentance and water baptism are needed for sins to be remitted. The word " remission", in the original Greek, means to return something to its original state. When we obey the command to repent and be water baptized the Holy Spirit remits our sins by spiritually circumcising our conscience, removing the guilt from past sins and restoring it to its original childlike sensitivity to sin. As far as recieving the Holy Spirit is concerned, the Word " recieve", in the N.T. original Greek, means " to take hold of".So after repentance and water baptism the Holy Spirit must be asked for through fervent prayer. God determines when to give us the Holy Spirit, not us. The conversion of Saul/Paul is a good example. After having encountered the Lord on the road to Damascus Saul was blinded and led into Damascus where he spent three days fasting and in prayer. He believed and was repenting but still had not been born again. Ananias came to him after being told to by the Lord and upon laying hands on him and Sauls' sight being restored he told him, " Why tarriest thou( what are you waiting for ) arise and be baptized calling on the name of the Lord. What was the purpose of Ananias telling him to call on the Lord ? So that he might recieve the Holy Spirit . John the Baptist said that he baptized with water but Jesus would baptize with the Holy Spirit. The believer recieves the Holy Spirit as a result of the Holy Spirit baptism which is to be filled to overflowing. Once the Lord has answered the believers fervent prayer to be filled with the Holy Spirit the believer must then yield their tongue, "The body's most unruly member that no man can tame" until the Spirit takes control of it, " tames it", and enables him to speak in the spiritual language that the English translation calls " tongues". Once this occurs it initiates the baptismal overflow resulting in the Spirit becoming one with our spirit and remaining in us, which is what recieving the Holy Spirit is.

@@robertnieten7259 speaking tongues isn’t a requirement for salvation, but being born of the Spirit is... tongues is a gift, that is distributed as the spirit wills.
@robertnieten72593 жыл бұрын
@@subjecttochrist Thanks for your reply. Recieving the Holy Spirit is required for salvation and speaking in tongues is how God has chosen to supernaturally confirm that it has occured in every case. Recieving the Holy Spirit is too crucial to our salvation to leave it up to man to say when they have recieved the Holy Spirit thus a supernatural sign. The Holy Spirit is recieved as the result of the Holy Spirit baptism. What did God tell John the baptist, " He whom you see the Spirit descending upon and remaining he who baptized with the Holy Spirit. In 1Cor. Ch.12 and 14 Paul is addressing a church he himself had already established "concerning spiritual gifts". The only gift he mentions that works together with another gift for the edification of a church body is speaking in tongues which works together with a believer who has the gift of interpretation of tongues. But Paul mentions another operation of speaking in tongues that needs no interpretation that is for the speakers edification in 1Cor.14:2 " He that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaks unto God not man for NO man understands him howbeit in the Spirit he speaketh mysteries". " He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifys himself". (1Cor..14:4 ) " If I pray in a tongue my Spirit prays but my understanding is unfruitful.." In other words Paul says that when he prays in this language he doesn't understand what he is saying. In the original Greek that the N.T. was written in, our English word " tongues" is singular not plural. Lastly, three repetitions of something is the Words way of pointing us to a great truth. For instance, in John ch.3 Jesus tells Nicodemus in three different ways that he must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven. Three times in the book of Acts it is recorded that believers recieved the Holy Spirit. In all three instances the first thing that happened was that they spoke in " tongues".
@subjecttochrist3 жыл бұрын
@@robertnieten7259 But he that prophesieth, speaketh unto men for edification and exhortation and comfort. 1 Corinthians 14:3... the gift of prophecy is for edification, as the scripture clearly says. Not sure the point you’re trying to make by saying that tongues is the only gift that works with another gift (interpretation of tongues) for edification, Paul says after that: “Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.” 1 Corinthians 14:5 it’s clear that some Christians - aka born again Spirit filled believers - didn’t have the gift of tongues. If you’re part of a denomination that says ‘tongues’ is a requirement for salvation, you ought to RUN. You ought to read 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, and focus on the very end: ““All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.” 1 Corinthians 12:11 the Spirit distributed the gifts as HE wills. Some have been gifted with tongues, others have not.
@robertnieten72593 жыл бұрын
@@subjecttochrist Thanks for your reply. In 1Cor.12:7 Paul says that "the gifts of the spirit are to profit withal "( everyone ). Speaking in " tongues" has two operations, one to edify the church body if it is interpreted. The second is to edify the speaker only. As i've mentioned the word " tongues" in the original Greek of the N.T. is singular meaning one spiritual language. Paul said," When I pray in a tongue my Spirit prays but my understanding is unfruitful" So Paul says that he is praying, along with his native language, another language he doesn't understand. When did Paul first get the ability to pray in this other language ? When he recieved the Holy Spirit. Being able to pray in this spiritual language doesn't qualify as one of the gifts of the Spirit Paul is referring to in 1Cor. Ch.12 and 14 because the purpose of the gifts is for the edification of a church body or its members as a whole but only edifys the speaker. To say that I mean that speaking in " tongues" is necessary for salvation is to put the emphasis in the wrong place. It is essential to salvation for the believer to recieve the Holy Spirit to be saved and the supernatural confirmation of this, given to man by God, is speaking in " tongues" in every case. I was aware of the Holy Spirits' presence near me and I was filled with the Holy Spirit before I ever recieved the Spirit. I could easily have thought that at that point that I had recieved the Holy Spirit but I would have been wrong and the Word says that " He that hath not the Spirit of Christ is none of His". The Holy Spirit is recieved as a result of the Holy Spirit baptism which is to be filled to overflowing. This can't occur unless the believer, once God fills him with the Spirit, doesn't yield his tongue to the Spirit first because only God can tame this most unruly member. Once the Spirit takes control of the tongue that initiates the Spirit overflow supernaturally testified to by the believer speaking in " tongues" resulting in the Holy Spirit joining with our spirit and remaining within us.

Two kinds of birth. The first one is born of flesh or, born of water. The water breaks, the child is born. At the time of Jesus, everybody was born of water. This the way we enter the world. The other kind of birth is by the Spirit of God through faith in Christ.

When people use “born again” language to describe their salvation today, it hides the preaching of the cross, which is unique to the formation of the new creature by God’s grace. “Born again” language takes us back to before the cross in John 3 and replaces the gospel of Christ with Israel’s new covenant. Born again language is a denial of the mystery of Christ revealed to the apostle Paul. People who think they are born again must also think they are in some way Israel.

What about born (again )of water to mean being born again by believing and accepting Jesus (the Son of Man, fully human) who is the Living (Eternal, fully God) Water (Samaritan woman) who Himself spoke with Nicodemus and the Woman. This shows connection of the two stories. And born of spirit is believing and accepting the resurrected Jesus, the Holy Spirit.

Don't think a " changed life" is always the way we can tell if we or somone else is born again. I think " born again" is speaking of the spiritual birth. I think the reference to going back into the mother's womb is there to show that we be the only way we could change our flesh, showing the impossibility of it. When the bible talks of born again it uses language like " all things have changed", not you will begin to see changes in your life, as many teach. It says anyone born of God " cannot sin", not you will sin less and less, as many teach. This why I think it a spiritual rebirth by grace through faith that happens when one puts there trust in christ. It is now how God views us as rightious only because we are now " in christ" because his seed remains in us. Certainly the thief on the cross was " born again", but had not time to have a changed life. Also we see the pharisee in luke looking at his " good life" as evedence of born again, or salvation,while we see the tax collector simply asking for mercy as a sinner, and he the one justified. And also anyone, even an atheist or somone in a false religion can have a changed life.

True. Believers are born again into a new man(Eph4:24) in heaven and this new man is the son of God who can’t sin(1John3:9).

What Does “Are You Born Again?” Mean? Lets take a quick look at the Bible and the Early Church Fathers. The Bible (Scripture) and Early Church Fathers (Tradition) will both give us the answer on what “being born again” means! John 3:3,5 “Unless you are born again you cannot see the kingdom of God”. “Truly, truly I say, unless you were born of the Water and of the Spirit you cannot enter the kingdom of God”. 2. 1Peter 3:18-21 “Which had been some time incredulous, when they waited for the patience of God in the days of Noah, when the ark was a building: wherein a few, that is, eight souls, were saved by Water ( don’t forget about the Dove in Genesis 8:8-11 with the olive branch, in Matthew 3:16 and Luke 3:22 the Dove is the Spirit ). This prefigured baptism, which baptism now saves you!! It is not a removal of dirt from the body but an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ”. What prefigured baptism, which baptism now saves you? Great Question! Being saved by the Water and the Spirit (dove) saved the 8 souls on the Ark!!! (Water and Spirit) This prefigured baptism, which baptism now saves you !!! 3. Exodus 14:19-31. (abbreviated ) The new children of Israel (Israelites) were saved through the Water (Red Sea) And overhead was a pillar of Fire by night (Acts 2:3 - Fire is the Spirit) and a pillar of Cloud by day. (Luke 9:34 - Cloud is the Spirit). The new children of Israel (Israelites) were saved by the Water and Spirit !!! 4. Ezekiel 36:25-27 “And I will pour upon you clean Water, and you shall be cleansed from all your filthiness, and I will cleanse you from all your idols. And I will give you a new heart, and put a new Spirit within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in the midst of you: and I will cause you to walk in my commandments, and to keep my judgments, and do them.” 5. Mathew 3:16 - “John the Baptist was in the wilderness preaching and Jesus told John to baptize him and they went down into the Water and the Spirit came down upon them.” 6. John 1:31-33 - “I myself did not know him; but for this I came baptizing with Water, that he might be revealed to Israel. And John bore witness, "I saw the Spirit descend as a Dove from heaven, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with Water said to me, 'He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.” Born Again ( Water and Spirit ) is ..... Water Baptism! Christian’s are “Born Again” through Water Baptism!

Early Church Fathers on being “Born Again” Clement Recognitions (Book VI) ch 9 Same Clement who helped the Apostle Paul “Labor” in his Gospel in Philippians 4:3. 👇😳 "But you will perhaps say, 'What does the baptism of water contribute toward the worship of God?' In the first place, because that which has pleased God is fulfilled. In the second place, because when you are regenerated and born again of water and of Spirit, the frailty of your former birth, which you have through men, is cut off, and so . . . you shall be able to attain salvation; but otherwise it is impossible. For thus has the true prophet Jesus testified to us with an oath: 'Verily, I say to you, that unless a man is born again of water . . . he shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven'" Justin Martyr First Apology ch 61 [100-165 AD] Taught by Polycarp who was taught by the Apostle John "As many as are persuaded and believe that what we Christians say is true, and undertake to be able to live accordingly . . . are brought by us where there is water, and are regenerated in the same manner in which we were ourselves regenerated. For, in the name of God, the Father and Lord of the universe, and of our Savior Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit, they then receive the washing with water. For Christ also said, John 3:3 “Except you be born again, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Irenaeus of Lyons Fragments from The Writings of Irenaeus 34 [120-180 AD] Taught by Polycarp who was taught by the Apostle John 2 Kgs. 5:14 “So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.” It was not for nothing that Naaman of old, when suffering from leprosy, was purified upon him being baptized, but [this served] as an indication to us. For as we are lepers in sin, we are made clean, by means of the sacred water and the invocation of the Lord, from our old transgressions, being spiritually regenerated as newborn babes, even as the Lord has declared: John 3:5 “Except a man be born again through water and the Spirit, he shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” Cyprian of Carthage Epistle 71 par 1 [200-270 AD] "[When] they receive also the baptism of the Church . . . then finally can they be fully sanctified and be the sons of God . . . since it is written, 'Except a man be born again of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God'" Cyprian of Carthage Treatise 12 par 25 (200-270 ad) That unless a man has been baptized he cannot attain to the kingdom of God. Cyprian of Carthage The Seventh Council of Carthage [200-270 AD] Certain people therefore interpret for themselves ill, when they say that by imposition of the hand they receive the Holy Ghost, and are thus received, when it is manifest that they ought to be born again in the Catholic Church by the sacrament. Then indeed they will be able to be sons of God, as says the apostle: "Taking care to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." There is one body, and one Spirit, as ye have been called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God." All these things speaks to the Catholic Church. ...I judge that all heretics and schismatics who wish to come to the Catholic Church, shall not be allowed to enter without first been baptized. Hilary of Poitiers On the Trinity book 8 par 9 (300-367 ad) Or, again, since he who plants and he who waters are one, are they not one because, being themselves born again in one baptism they form a ministry of one regenerating baptism? Cyril of Jerusalem Catechetical Lecture 3 par 4 [315-386 AD] "Since man is of a twofold nature, composed of body and soul, the purification also is twofold: the corporeal for the corporeal and the incorporeal for the incorporeal. The water cleanses the body, and the Spirit seals the soul. . . . When you go down into the water, then, regard not simply the water, but look for salvation through the power of the Spirit. For without both you cannot attain to perfection. It is not who says this, but the Lord Jesus Christ, who has the power in this matter. And he says, 'Unless a man be born again,' and he adds the words 'of water and of the Spirit,' 'he cannot enter the kingdom of God.' He that is baptized with water, but is not found worthy of the Spirit, does not receive the grace in perfection. Nor, if a man be virtuous in his deeds, but does not receive the seal by means of the water, shall he enter the kingdom of heaven. A bold saying, but not mine; for it is Jesus who has declared it" Augustine On Baptism Against the Donatists book 1 ch 10 par 13 (354-430 ad) But if we say that it does not make them sons, "Why then," say they, "do you not cause those who pass from us to you to be born again in baptism, after they have been baptized with us, if they are not thereby born as yet?" Augustine On Merits and Remission of Sin and Infant Baptism book 1 ch 21 (354-430 ad) Hence men are on the one hand born in the flesh liable to sin and death from the first Adam, and on the other hand are born again in baptism associated with the righteousness and eternal life of the second Adam Augustine Against Petilian the Donatist book 1 ch 16 (354-430 ad) That man is dead who has not been worthy to be born again in true baptism Being “Born Again” is NOT “having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ” or “bringing Jesus into your heart” like some “Bible Alone” Protestants will tell you it means! That is what you call Protestant tradition because those phrases are NOWHERE written in the Bible!

Being born again began in Acts 2:38. Romans 10: 9 was never preached to unbelievers about how to be saved anywhere in the bible. Romans 10:9 was an epistle written to the Roman's who in Acts already repented, received the Holy Spirit and were baptized.

2 of 3 ...At 37:35 Tim mentions the serpent in the wilderness. That’s precisely the HOW as described by Jesus in John 3:14-16. We don’t have to know the details of what happens and how and exactly the precise moment we’re born again, but according to scripture we know it’s the operation of God and we know it happens AFTER we believe. Calvinists conflate believing with being born again when they are two entirely different events. Believing happens FIRST and then we’re born again not of the will of man but of God. Spiritual operation of God when we’re risen WITH Christ (not before Christ) with zero human involvement. Colossians 2:12 YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN If Jesus Christ Himself gave us an analogy of salvation would we believe it? Because He does. And it’s recorded in John the in the account of Nicodemus and not the account of Lazarus.. You must be born again, which is exactly what Jesus went on to tell Nicodemus. In response to his question He tells him clearly and plainly HOW. He must BELIEVE in the one who will be lifted up in on the pole. ************************************* ...Such an incredible discourse between Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3. Nicodemus would have approached Jesus believing that he was ALREADY ENTITLED to a share of God’s Kingdom on the BASIS OF THE PROMISES given to Abraham. Similar to the Jew in Romans 9. It’s incredible how right after Jesus says to Nicodemus in vs 12, “how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?” He then actually goes on to tell Him what he must do to be saved. He actually continues to tell him of the heavenly things. Jesus CLEARLY lays it out for Nicodemus right up until vs 21. Jesus doesn’t mess around. He uses strong doctrine. No parables are involved; nothing is hidden with imagery or in similitudes. He is saying plainly that men must BELIEVE IN HIM; that he is the Son of God, the Promised Messiah, the Only Begotten of the Father, the One of whom Moses and the prophets testified. It is PLAIN and CLEAR beyond question for Nicodemus. PERFECTLY EXPLAINED BY JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF! In verse 9 when Nicodemus asks Jesus, “How can these things be?” Jesus quickly directs Nicodemus to the NECESSITY OF ATONEMENT and gives the analogy of the serpent in the wilderness in verses 14-19: JOHN 3:14-19 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, EVEN SO must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the WORLD THROUGH HIM MIGHT BE SAVED. 18 HE THAT BELIEVETH on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ************************************* Such a bold but merciful discourse with Jesus holding out His hand to Nicodemus, clearly offering Him salvation through Himself by speaking straight truth to him. Jesus made it clear that the soul cleansing benefits of His atoning work are given only to those who BELIEVE in Him. Christ’s emphasis in these passages is the need for new life and does not deal with the issue of HOW that new life is attained until LATER in the chapter. If we simply follow Jesus’ discourse we will discover that Jesus lays it out quite clearly. All we can rightly deduce from John 3:3,6 is that no one can see or enter the Kingdom of God until they are born again. This is absolutely correct. Jesus explains later in the very same chapter and even gives a clear illustration of HOW one becomes born again. We need to be careful not to read our doctrinal biases into Christ’s words before he has had an opportunity to further explain. **Seeing the Kingdom of God does not mean seeing the need for the redemption. One does not necessarily need to fully comprehend the nature of God’s Kingdom in order to recognize one’s need for a redeemer. This is a false correlation that is not supported by the rest of the text or the rest of the scriptures which clearly show us the order of salvation. We can’t take a few texts that support our bias and then disregard the rest of the scriptures. Once you’re born again you’ll then be able to see the Kingdom of God BECAUSE YOU’LL BE IN IT. He is describing the transition from one sphere of existence to another. This was especially relevant in light of the Jewish understanding that they would experience God’s Kingdom on the basis of being a descendant of Abraham. The Jews believed that when the Messiah came they would simply move into His Kingdom on the MERITS of God’s promise to Abraham’s descendants and on the merits of obedience to the Mosaic Law. While the Jews believed that they could EARN heaven on the merits of their works, they seemed to primarily believe that they were UNCONDITIONALLY PROMISED the eternal inheritance simply because they were circumcised Jews. This is the cultural context in which this dialogue between a leading Jew and Jesus takes place. Jesus is CORRECTING two fundamental misconceptions of the Jewish understanding of salvation. They will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God UNCONDITIONALLY. They must be CHANGED. They must be REBORN. This change does not take place corporately but individually, “No one [individual] can see” or “enter” the Kingdom of God without FIRST BEING REBORN. The Kingdom of God is not unconditionally guaranteed to them. They cannot enter the Kingdom until their sin has been dealt with, for the Kingdom of God is a holy Kingdom. There is need for REAL ATONEMENT before one can enter into the life of God’s Kingdom. Since sin brings DEATH “you must be born again”. So how does one attain the new life necessary for seeing and entering the Kingdom of God? Jesus goes on to clearly explain. We MUST look to the lifted up Messiah and BELIEVE IN HIM. We must not ignore the implications involved with the analogy of the bronze serpent THAT JESUS SPECIFICALLY USED to answer Nicodemus’ question of how one becomes born again (vs. 9). Those Israelites were dying until they fixed their gaze on the bronze snake. Jesus correlates this “looking” to the snake with “believing”. When someone BELIEVES in Christ the blood of atonement is APPLIED, the curse of sin and death is broken, and new life begins. Since this is the illustration that CHRIST CHOSE to explain the nature of his atonement and the means by which we attain life, it is absurd to believe that Jesus was teaching that the new birth precedes faith in John 3:3,6. Rather than allowing Jesus to explain His own teaching, the Calvinist wants to “explain” what Jesus meant even before Jesus Himself explains. If we want to understand what Jesus meant by His comments in John 3:3, 6, we only need to KEEP READING. If we can resist the temptation to READ OUR THEOLOGY into his comments we will soon discover that one is born again by BELIEVING IN CHRIST and thereby appropriating the benefits of His atonement. Only after the blood of the “lifted up” Messiah is APPLIED THROUGH FAITH can one begin to experience the eternal life that begins at the new birth. When Jesus said that no one can “see” or “enter” the Kingdom of God unless that person was born again, He was teaching the necessity of the application of His atoning work. Only when sin is dealt with in the life of the individual can that person experience life and move into the sphere of God’s holy Kingdom. Jesus made it clear that the soul cleansing benefits of His atoning work are given only to those who BELIEVE in Him. The only way for anyone, Jew or Gentile, to attain the life of the Messianic Kingdom is for them to personally put their faith in the atoning work of the Messiah. ************************************* Calvinists lay great stress on the parallel between spiritual birth and physical birth. They will often argue that a sinner can no more decide when he will be reborn than a child can decide when he or she will be physically born. The problem with this approach is that Jesus nowhere says that we are to understand his words in this way. What about labor pains? What about the passage through the birth canal? What about conception? Should we also seek to draw parallels from these aspects of physical birth? If not, then why not? How do we know which parallels should be drawn, and which should not? If Jesus was referring to a total inability to perceive the things that relate to the kingdom of God then He would be wasting His time telling Nicodemus, as Nicodemus would have needed to be born again before he could perceive anything that Jesus would have to say to him! Lol Jesus’ desire was to see Nicodemus enter that very Kingdom of God that he falsely presumed upon. It was not Jesus’ purpose to confuse Nicodemus with a Calvinistic understanding that he cannot become a believer in Him unless he is first regenerated. Jesus is working with Nicodemus’ expectation of the Jewish hope about the Kingdom of God and seeking to correct that false assumption

Gary wasn’t my explanation it was Jesus explanation in John 3 of how to be born again. I didn’t write John 3. What did Jesus go on to tell Nicodemus? BELIEVE. BELIEVE ON THE ONE LIFTED UP and He will save you. Pretty clear and straightforward. God has sovereignly chosen to save ALL those who believe. 100% monergistically an act of God with zero human effort. God took the first step towards us in offering His Son to die on a cross that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the GRACE OF CHRIST unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would PERVERT THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST. BUT I FEAR, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his SUBTILTY, so your minds should be corrupted from the SIMPLICITY THAT IS IN CHRIST. How are you born again AFTER you believe you ask? ...According to John 3:6 when we are born again we are born of the SPIRIT: JOHN 3:6 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and THAT WHICH IS BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT. When you’re born again you receive a new SPIRIT, you don’t receive your new spirit afterwards. We don’t get a new heart in order to get a new spirit it all happens at the same time. It doesn’t say that which is born of the Spirit is “heart.” It’s Spirit because we immediately get a new SPIRIT when we’re born again. The Holy Spirit dwells inside of us and seals us when we’re born again as outlined in Ephesians 1:13 which shows us the Biblical Order Salutis: EPHESIANS 1:13 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also AFTER THAT YE BELIEVED, YE WERE SEALED WITH THAT HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE, Being BORN AGAIN is having Christ IN you. It’s having the Holy Spirit inside of you which seals you. It’s having God’s righteousness. It’s being born into the family of God, the body of Christ, the Church. *************************************** ...According to 1 Peter 1:23 it’s clear you’re born again BY CHRIST and therefore it’s impossible for it to happen beforehand. We’re born again BY the word of God which liveth and abideth forever (that’s Christ who is the very Word made flesh): 1 PETER 1:23 23 BEING BORN AGAIN, not of corruptible seed, but OF INCORRUPTIBLE, BY THE WORD OF GOD, which liveth and abideth for ever. It’s an operation of God and not of man. 100% the will of God as there’s absolutely nothing msn can do to save themselves. God sovereignly chooses in His mercy to save all those who BELIEVE. ************************************* Regeneration happens not before and not after Christ. It happens THROUGH HIM for He is the very one who spiritually circumcises us. We can’t be circumcised before coming to Him because the very operation happens IN HIM. COLOSSIANS 2:10-13 10 And YE ARE COMPLETE IN HIM, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 IN WHOM ALSO YE ARE CIRCUMCISED with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh BY THE CIRCUMCISION OF CHRIST: 12 BURIED WITH HIM IN BAPTISM, WHEREIN ALSO YE ARE RISEN WITH HIM THROUGH THE FAITH OF THE OPERATION OF GOD, WHO HATH RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD. 13 AND YOU, BEING DEAD in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, HATH HE QUICKENED TOGETHER WITH HIM, HAVING FORGIVEN YOU ALL TRESPASSES; VS11: We are complete IN Him and not before Him. When we’re born again we’re complete and we can’t be born again and still be incomplete which we would be if we’re not IN Christ yet. ************************************* ...According to Colossians 2:12 do we have the operation of God first and then are given faith, or are we risen with Him THROUGH THE FAITH OF THE OPERATION OF GOD? COLOSSIANS 2:12 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are RISEN WITH HIM THROUGH THE FAITH OF THE OPERATION OF GOD, who hath raised him from the dead.

@@apilkey --- the fruit of being born again is believing .... being born again is something that the Holy Spirit does and then upon the Holy Spirit bringing someone to new birth, that person then believes on Jesus. Belief to one who is born again is like crying is to a newborn babe or breathing is to one who has been made alive. Faith is the result of the new birth, not the cause of the new birth. And faith is not the cause of or the grounds of justification, but instead, faith is what unites us to the cause. It is why we can say, we are saved by grace, through faith, because faith is the conduit. Faith is never the activator of Gods grace, it is the fruit of God's grace. It is the work of God the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, to seek and save. It is His work to perform spiritual surgery, to unstop spiritually deaf ears, and give sight to spiritually blind eyes. That is why we can sing, "I was blind, but now I see." We don't unblind ourselves. The Holy Spirit does that. Not only that, we don’t save ourselves once we are un-blinded by 'our' clinging onto Christ. No, what saves us, is the object of what our eyes have been opened to, and what we are clinging to. And that object is Christ. It is Christ who saves. Faith is the conduit, or instrument by which we receive him. When a blind person is healed from blindness, their first act as a result of their healing is to see. When a crippled is given the ability to walk, their first act is to walk. When an unbeliever is healed, their first act is to believe.

Coram Deo Missions Hmm that all sounds good on the surface and I can definitely see how what you write could deceive the minds of the simple. But when you put everything you said in the balance of scripture it comes up wanting. In other words it’s definitely not biblical. I don’t think you read my other message I had posted 3 as they were quite long but it went through some of what you said so I’ll just assume you didn’t get a chance to read them. We absolutely don’t see first in order to believe as your systematic says. That’s actually the exact opposite of what Biblical faith is according to Hebrews 11:11. I did agree with a couple of your statements but your conclusions of those statements are flawed. Yes I fully agree with what you said here: “It is His work to perform spiritual surgery.” “We don’t unblind ourselves. The Holy Spirit does that.” “It is Christ who saves.” ... AMEN to all three of those statements! ************************************* ************************************* YOU SAID: “Faith is the result of the new birth.” The only problem with that statement is that’s NOT what the bible says and when weighed in the balance that statement falls short and comes up wanting. Who has bewitched you? ...According to Galatians 3:1-5 did you receive the spirit by the hearing of FAITH or is it backwards saying you received your faith first by regeneration? IT IS WRITTEN: GALATIANS 3:1-5 1 O FOOLISH GALATIANS, WHO HATH BEWITCHED YOU, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2 This only would I learn of you, RECEIVED YE THE SPIRIT by the works of the law, or BY THE HEARING OF FAITH? 3 ARE YE SO FOOLISH? HAVING BEGUN IN THE SPIRIT, ARE YE NOW MADE PERFECT BY THE FLESH? 4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. 5 HE THEREFORE THAT MINISTERETH TO YOU THE SPIRIT, and worketh miracles among you, DOETH HE it by the works of the law, or BY THE HEARING OF FAITH? **My only question is according to this verse did you receive the Spirit by the hearing of faith or by regeneration? *************************************** ...According to Acts 15:9 we purify our hearts BY faith and not the other way around. IT IS WRITTEN: ACTS 15:9 9 And put no difference between us and them, PURIFYING THEIR HEARTS BY FAITH. **My question would be how do you reconcile this verse that says we purify our hearts BY faith? It doesn’t say our hearts are purified first so that we can then have faith. The order is clear. *************************************** ... According to Romans 10:10 you BELIEVE UNTO righteousness not the other way around. You’re not made righteous first so as to believe. IT IS WRITTEN: ROMANS 10:10 10 For with the heart man BELIEVETH UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. **My question is, how can you reconcile being made righteous prior to Christ because we’re only found to be righteous IN Him because HE IS OUR VERY RIGHTEOUSNESS? Is not the order clear in this verse in that we believe in the heart UNTO righteousness? We’re not made righteous first so that we can then believe. How do you reconcile this verse? There is no righteousness APART from Christ not even a millisecond before. **Born again means you’re a new man/ a new creation IN Christ Jesus who is our righteousness and holiness. It’s impossible to be made righteous or holy BEFORE having Christ in you. You’re not made righteous and holy APART from Christ because it happens IN and THROUGH Christ making it impossible to happen before. *************************************** ...According to Galatians 3:14 do we receive the promise of the Spirit through faith or do we receive the promise of faith through the Spirit? IT IS WRITTEN: GALATIANS 3:14 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; THAT WE MIGHT RECEIVE THE PROMISE OF THE SPIRIT THROUGH FAITH. ************************************* ************************************* YOU SAID: “Faith is never the actuator of grace.” The only problem with that statement is that’s NOT what the bible says and when weighed in the balance that statement falls short and comes up wanting. ...According to Romans 5:2 we have access BY FAITH into this grace. IT IS WRITTEN: ROMANS 5:2 2 By whom also WE HAVE ACCESS BY FAITH INTO THIS GRACE wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. ************************************* ... According to Acts 15:11 You have to believe that THROUGH THE GRACE PROVIDED you will be saved. IT IS WRITTEN: ACTS 15:11 11 But WE BELIEVE THAT THROUGH THE GRACE of the Lord Jesus Christ WE SHALL BE SAVED, EVEN AS THEY. ************************************* We have to RECEIVE the grace of God that’s AVAILABLE TO ALL in Titus 2:11. ...According to Romans 5:17 we receive the abundance of God’s grace BY FAITH. Coram Deo Missions YOU SAID: “When an unbeliever is healed their first act is to believe.” The only problem with that statement is that’s NOT what the bible says and when weighed in the balance that statement falls short and comes up wanting. ... According to Luke 7:50 Jesus recognized and credited the woman’s FAITH as to what saved her. He could’ve just as easily credited Himself as being the one that had arbitrarily predestined her to have the faith to believe, but instead He credited HER FAITH. He said, THY FAITH has saved you: LUKE 7:50 50 And he said to the woman, THY FAITH HATH SAVED THEE; go in peace. ************************************* ... According to Mark 5:34 Jesus recognized and credited the woman’s FAITH as to what healed her. He could’ve just as easily credited Himself as being the one that had arbitrarily predestined her to have the faith to believe, but instead He credited HER FAITH. IT IS WRITTEN: MARK 5:34 34 And he said unto her, Daughter, THY FAITH HATH MADE THEE WHOLE; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. ************************************* ... According to Mark 10:52 Jesus recognized and credited the woman’s FAITH as to what healed her. He could’ve just as easily credited Himself as being the one that had arbitrarily predestined her to have the faith to believe, but instead He credited HER FAITH. IT IS WRITTEN: MARK 10:52 52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; THY FAITH HATH MADE THEE WHOLE. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way. ************************************* ... According to Matthew 8:10 Jesus Marvelled at the Centurion’s great faith. If God was the one who effectually gave him his faith then why would Jesus be marvelling? Is Jesus then just marvelling at Himself that He have him soo much faith? IT IS WRITTEN: MATTHEW 8:10 10 WHEN JESUS HEARD IT, HE MARVELLED, and said to them that followed, VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, I HAVE NOT FOUND SO GREAT FAITH, NO, NOT IN ISRAEL. ************************************* ... According to Mark 6:6 Jesus marvelled at their unbelief. If God was the one who arbitrarily decided not to predestined them to have any faith then why would Jesus be marvelling? Is Jesus then just marvelling at Himself that He decided not to give them any faith? IT IS WRITTEN: MARK 6:6 6 And HE MARVELLED BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF. And he went round about the villages, teaching. **Jesus didn’t have a problem recognizing it was because of people’s FAITH that saved them/healed them so why do you have a problem recognizing that? ************************************* ************************************* Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things NOT SEEN. ...According to Hebrews 11:1 faith is the evidence of things NOT seen yet Calvinists insist you must see FIRST in order to THEN have the faith to believe which is actually the EXACT OPPOSITE of how Hebrews 11:1 defines faith. If you have to see first then I hate to break it to you but that’s NOT FAITH. IT IS WRITTEN: HEBREWS 11:1 1 NOW FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE OF THINGS HOPED FOR, THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN. *************************************** IT IS WRITTEN: JOHN 11:25-27;40 25 JESUS SAID UNTO HER, I AM THE RESURRECTION, AND THE LIFE: HE THAT BELEIVETH IN ME, THOUGH HE WERE DEAD, yet shall he live: 26 And WHOSOEVER liveth and BELEIVETH in me shall never die. BELEIVEST THOU THIS? 27 She saith unto him, YEA, LORD: I BELEIVE that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.… 40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, IF THOU WOULDEST BELEIVE, THOU SHOULDEST SEE THE GLORY OF GOD? ... what does John 11:40 say? Does it say you see God’s glory first or do you BELIEVE first before you see God’s glory? *************************************** ... According to John 3:36 it’s clear that you shall not SEE life UNTIL YOU BELIEVE. IT IS WRITTEN: JOHN 3:36 36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT THE SON SHALL NOT SEE LIFE; but the wrath of God abideth on him. **This verse is in the very same chapter as John 3:3 if we only just KEEP READING. You absolutely don’t see the kingdom in John 3:3 UNTIL YOU BELIEVE which is when you are born again yet Calvinists attempt to use this passage as a proof text. *************************************** ... According to Luke 17:20-24 the Kingdom of God cometh NOT BY OBSERVATION. IT IS WRITTEN: LUKE 17:20-24 20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, THE KINGDOM OF GOD COMETH NOT WITH OBSERVATION: 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU. *************************************** ...According to 2 Corinthians 4:18 we look at things which are NOT SEEN for these are the things that are eternal. IT IS WRITTEN: 2 CORINTHIANS 4:18 18 While we look NOT at the things which are seen, BUT AT THE THINGS WHICH ARE NOT SEEN: for the things which are seen are temporal; but THE THINGS WHICH ARE NOT SEEN ARE ETERNAL. *************************************** ...According to 2 Corinthians 5:7 walking by faith is NOT BY SIGHT. IT IS WRITTEN: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:7 7 (FOR WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT:) *************************************** ... According to Romans 8:24,25 we are saved by hope that is NOT SEEN. IT IS WRITTEN: ROMANS 8:24,25 24 FOR WE ARE SAVED BY HOPE: BUT HOPE THAT IS SEEN IS NOT HOPE: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we SEE NOT, then do we with patience wait for it. *************************************** ... According to 1 John 3:2 the time that we WILL walk by sight is when we’re actually living with Christ for we shall see Him as He is and the hope that we hoped for we will finally see. Until then we do not see for that is not hope and that is not faith: 1 JOHN 3:2 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS.

The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

Daniel 3:29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. Genesis 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. Jeremiah 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart. Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. Psalms 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. Malachi 2:6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: Habakkuk 2:1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. Proverbs 23:12 Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge. Job 5:24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.

"The new birth is from the future." Good teaching. "But never underestimate the power of the new birth." Meh. Most overestimate its power. The new birth makes babies in Christ. Babies are cute. Babies can't sin. But babies shit themselves constantly. "New sensibility and new identity." Very good teaching. No teaching on "born again" should ignore the fact that those words so translated mean "born from above" in the Greek. If anyone knows differently please set me straight.

The reality of what Christ meant by "born again" and how it's being preached out of context. John 3:2-10 > The same [Nicodemus] came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God...Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God... Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Jesus chided Nicodemus because as a teacher to the Jews he ought to have known about Exekiel 36 & 37 which talks about "water" and "spirit." Born of water & spirit - refers to Ezekiel 36:24-26 > For I will take you [Jews] from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land [Israel]. Then will I sprinkle clean "water" upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.A new heart also will I give you, and a "new spirit" will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. Ezekiel 37:11-12 > Then he [Spirit of the Lord] said unto me [Ezekiel] , Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 1 John 3:9 > Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. It refers to Old Testament time Jews being brought back to life in their Land from all the nations where they were scattered by the Gentiles. Read what Apostle Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, has to say. He never spoke about being born again. It's about renewing your minds. Romans 12:1-3 > I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. At Christ's 2nd coming , only the dry bones of Israel that is the subject of Ezekiel 36 and 37 will be born again in the land of Israel (specifically read Ezekiel 36:24-26) . They will reign with Christ for a thousand years. At Christ's 3rd coming at the end of millennium will the Believers both alive and dead including the believing Jews of Old Testament times who were brought back to life (dry bones that He sprinkled with water and gave a new spirit) will be raptured and gathered unto Him according to the Father's will and then a New Earth and New Jerusalem will come down from Heaven and God will dwell thereon with Believers for eternity.
