"My walk with God is a community project." - Paul Tripp. Wow, what an eye opener! This word is for a life time. Thank you Lord!

This is very instructive! Relationships and oneness, not isolation (claiming Christ in me without others), are foundational to my following Jesus. Thank you Paul, Sam and Ray for sharing your lives with us.

Good conversation. I would love to hear an extended conversation on the common use of modifiers for pastor: senior, associate, youth, music, discipleship, etc. I have talked to some leading historians about this, and it looks to be a recent invention during the age of specialization (19th century). Words matter. Lewis knew that if you modify gentlemen with true, the word gentlemen had lost its meaning. Modifiers for pastor reveal more than many seem to appreciate.

I’ll say this. We need some pastors these days that have a heart for people. Pastors that are willing to partake of the same food they are feeding their congregation. We have them now that simply get online, take a test and boom you’re a pastor, then copy you a sermon off of the internet, get your check and go home. They aren’t interested in ministry except getting up in front of people. Visiting the sick and shutins, ministering to orphans, or kids that have lost parents is out, they aren’t interested. I have a feeling God will deal with that kind of behavior.

I can appreciate this type of video, but with the greatest respect, I should think that the first aspect of this video would be to address the actual qualifications for overseer. After acknowledging the qualifications, discuss how the average congregation ignores those qualifications by looking outside of itself for an overseer. The qualifications require the man desiring to be "an" overseer (not "the" overseer) to be well known by said congregation. Also, it is presumed by most believers, including the average overseer, that one having attended Seminary one is qualified (by default) to be an overseer, contradicting Paul's letter to Timothy and Titus. Unfortunately this can easily be, and often, by all accounts, is fertile ground for all kinds of false teachings/doctrines. The teaching of scripture in the average congregation is shallow at best, some within each congregation may be somewhat knowledgeable but even those believers will usually ignore as a matter of course the 1 Timothy 3 prerequisites for making an overseer. They will go along often to get along with their less biblically mature brethren. The ones usually chosen for "so-called" search committee for finding an overseer are seldom very knowledgeable of scripture/doctrines and many of those committees are summarily deceived, this is easily proved, even many KZbin sites address this problem and much of the time knowledgeable believers are ignored when finally speaking up. How does the body of Christ get to the place described in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 where the time would come when men/and women would not endure sound doctrine. Beginning with the fact of Seminaries essentially rubber stamping men as preachers, overseers, Pastors, or whatever one wants to call them, it is a horrible truth that demonstrates the shallow teaching and understanding within the average congregation when there are little or no efforts for finding leaders who qualify within that average congregation. Nothing else should be discussed until this aspect is discussed because this is the root of the problem, this is the beginning aspect. One other problem, parents are the youth pastors, not Seminary graduates. Most parents simply have no idea what the average youth pastors believes let alone teaches. Youth pastors teach false teachings as well and it is even worse because the youth are even more unlikely to recognize false doctrines.
