This isn't what I was expecting from the title, I thought you would be listing things that are considered 19th century ideas that "wouldn't be known" to ancient inhabitants of the Americas, like Social Darwinism that is described and debunked on religious grounds in Alma 30: 17. Which would be just as anomalous because Social Darwinism is a late 19th century concept. And would be more akin to Mormon's statement that he's seen our day and is including things for what we would be facing. Still a fascinating video.

6:10 This apologetic extra textual explanation makes no sense. The book was supposedly revealed in english on a rock so the original punctuation or whatever has not bearing on the english version as god/the spirit would have been revealing it in 19th century english. This is an example of Brant''s apologetic explanation for problems creating more problems.

Seems to me, many of these Idea's support not only an oral dictation but also an oral composition of the Book of Mormon...... Such that you might say that there was no previous written text that Joseph is reciting but instead its free flowing through his oration, much like a 19th Century preacher might give a semi extemporaneous sermon.

If Joseph Smith Jr. was fluent in several forms of ancient Semitic and Egyptian languages found throughout the text. Then sure.

@@bartonbagnes4605 There's no semitic in the BoM that Joseph didn't know from his studies and nobody knew egyptian then and there is none in the BoM.

@drmay Several of the names in The Book Of Mormon are Egyptian, and the text even plays on the meaning of the names in Egyptian. Nephir without the r at the end would still mean Goodly, Perfect, Complete, Beautiful in Egyptian, and would only indicate a local dialect pronunciation with foreign influences. And Joseph Smith Jr. didn't start studying modern Hebrew until over a decade after The Book Of Mormon was published, and that wouldn't help with the ancient Hebrew grammar found in The Book Of Mormon anyways. Like the use of "And it came to pass" used to show the end of one idea and beginning of the next. You couldn't even use the Bible to fake this ancient Hebrew grammar feature, because most of the "And it came to pass" phrases were changed or removed from the Bible text when it was translated into other languages, because that phrase made the text sound awkward.

So he didn’t get it from 2 Maccabees 1:36: “And Neemias called this thing Naphthar, which is as much as to say, a cleansing: but many men call it Nephi.”
