I am glad Catholics bring their children to the sermons with them as opposed to Protestant churches where kids are separated into little play rooms (I came from Protestantism). I told my 5 year old I bring her in with the adults and listen to what I listen to just as I would want her to eat off my plate with vegetables, teach her how to use cutlery properly than sitting at a kids table or ordering from kids menu. Child grows best eating what their parents eat. They learn healthy eating and behavioral habits. Same in the spiritual aspect.

Jesus said BRING THE CHILDREN. I once heard a priest say when a child cries out at mass it makes him happy to know the young family is there. If we focus on our relationship and prayers we barely hear the children; and being no. 9 of 11 FAMILY brings smiles 😃 to my face. I know how often I distrupted the Holy Mass when I was a naughty child and I owe it to GOD to pay back my debt for my many failures. Bring on the children. I love them 💗

Yes, one of twelve. If one of the little ones was fussy they were carried out by big brother or sister till it passed. We sat, knelt, stood quietly under Dads watchful eye. His devotion was so exemplary, with head bowed and gently turning the onion skin pages of his missal. Mother usually had an infant to tend. The older boys were generally serving. The rest of us really kept each other in line. On occasion a baby cry could be heard somewhere in church. But it was soon hushed or drifted outside. Today, to hear a baby cry in Church is a joyful blessing. How I wish there was a larger choir of those innocent ones in Church. It amazes me that God still has faith in humanity when I see children! God bless their parents!

Thank you again, Fr. R. ... Malicious gossiping seems to be off the charts in prevalence and damage done everywhere. This is so good and very helpful in teaching us how to better ourselves, using biblical principles. This should be available in every school and workplace! PS - I appreciate keeping Trads on their toes, and keenly aware, especially given that Trads are supposedly searching for the truths, no matter how hard. Really important to NOT undermine the cause and truths by behaving hypocritcally. With great respect, in interest of balance.... Most Trads have likely endured accusations of trying to appear "holier than thou" so I just don't want people considering going traditional to be intimidated too much by those kinds of generalizations , or to feed too much into others who are quick to judge and label Trads negatively. But please still keep us on our toes, we all need it! (Great advice given, @ practicing to pray FOR the person we want to gossip about or who has hurt us)

There is for sure a difference between reporting on important issues to authority and then to the public after being given the right to do so by the proper authority and gossiping. A conflict of interest is most often at play during the act of gossiping. Like when Adam was being questioned next by god when being called to task about his own behavior too after Eve got questioned during the fall.

Re: Gossipping by men vs. women. Stranded after work, in a snowstorm, I ended up spending the night at the home of a male, retired former co-worker who took pity on me and on another co-worker, also a male (I'm a female). Our gracious host lived in a one-bedroom apartment, and he and my male co-worker whiled away a pleasant couple of hours over a couple of beers in the living room, talking about the doings among the various people at our workplace . . . I was very tired after trudging through the snow, and was desperate to go to sleep, but no such luck . . . I was forced due to the sleeping arrangements to wait for the pair of them to wrap it up. They weren't wrapping anytime soon, and I was a captive audience . . . anyway, before we all finally turned in, I knew more personal information about *every single person,* including *the owner* and *the owner's wife,* than I had learned on my own about these people during the previous entire year! (I'm an introvert; find most other people's lives boring to the point of sobs, and tend to mind my own business.) I have never heard such a fat pair of gossips in my entire life!!! And I never would have believed it if I hadn't listened to the pair of them all evening. (In case any other "oldsters" from DC remembers this night - this was the President's Day Snowstorm of 1979).
