So the fireball arrived yesterday while at work, I love my gagets and have lots of ukes and different tunings so use a roadie 3 tuner and even that struggled to the the wound strings as you seemed to. Not because of the stiff tuners but because of the strings not wanting to tune. On the box it states worth browns but as you state they don't do wound,also they seem black like anu nue,ghs or fremont. Anything but worth. Just quite confusing. Saying that on my what a tone. This uke gonna definitely get me back to practiceing finger style as it's made for that. What georgous looking and sounding instrument.

Thank you for the review. Being new to the ukulele, ( 6 months, But played guitar for 50 plus years), I was , like many others, focused on the big 3 ( K's). But I took a chance on the Flight Mustang , without paying it. Amazing! I have since played many Tenors and still feel the Flight is equal if not better then all I have played. I have been thinking about a Baritone, so I know that the Flight should be equal to my tenor in all respects. A side note, I replaced my factory strings ( which were good) with Pepe Romero Lava low G strings. Great sounding, easy playing strings. Jeff

Hi, thanks for your review. Just subscribed to your channel. Do you have any idea what batteries the pickup uses? And have you tried it out? How does it sound?
@GotAUkulele4 ай бұрын
Hi - yes all modern Flights use two CR 2032 cell batteries to keep the weight down. On my reviews of ukes with pickups I always test them off the video to check the sound is good. If I DON'T plug them in during the review you can assume that I have no problem with it - I only demo the pickup if it is BAD.. The reason for that is - doing video reviews of amplified instruments has too many variables - the microphone used for the recording and, mostly, the amp. I could record a review with a uke plugged into a Boutique acoustic amp and it would sound VERY different if a buyer plugged it in to a cheap little portable! Short version - the pickups on these are very good

What i don’t like about (most) open headstocks is their thickness. Now I understand that the tuners dictate that but when Kanile'a offers the Cobra headstock carrying Stealth tuners and that in combination looks flattened as if a tank ran over it, this one here on the Flight, certainly looks, like, extra clunky.

Could you share thoughts on the gap between the top-tier Hawaiian uke brands ('k brands') and mid-tier ones like Flight or Pono? What makes 'k brands' like Kanile'a, say the K1B, stand out in quality compared to Flight? I'm eyeing the Flight baritone, but not sure if splurging on the Kanile'a is worth it, even though it looks and sounds awesome.

A big part of the difference is costs - production / wages / power etc all more costly in US - but that aside I tend to find more precise, lighter builds with better quality tone woods and finishes

I bought one and yes I find it very beautiful and the sound is good too. But I have problems playing it, because above the seventh fret it becomes difficult to play precise. The distance between string and fretboard is there 3 mm and at fret 18 it has 5 mm. The first thought is to cut down the saddle, but I am afraid I have to send it back. 😢 Does anybody share my experience? Since this is my first baritone I have nothing to compare. Thank you for any feedback!
@GotAUkulele Жыл бұрын
Sounds like a poor setup issue - the good news is this element of the ukulele is designed to be adjustable. Check the height of the base of the string above the crown of the 12th fret - the acceptable range is between 2mm and 3mm with 2.5mm being average. Much higher than that and you or a tech need to sand the base of the saddle down
@ollusende1986 Жыл бұрын

I was in the local Music Store today and let them have a look at the setup. They told me it would be risky to grind down the saddle without risking a buzz. Maybe 0.5 mm but not 1 or even 2 mm, and I would need to lower it 2mm when I want 2.5 mm at the 12th fret.

You know what really annoys me about Flight ukuleles and this is for people in different countries that don’t have access to a luthier or someone that they can trust to make adjustments to instruments. Why don’t they put a strap button on the body by the fretboard , especially for the larger sized instruments like the baritone. It is such a simple thing to do at the manufacturing stage nd would reap huge benefits for player
@GotAUkulele11 ай бұрын
Can only say - because not everyone wants one? Speaking personally I dislike buttons in that place on small instruments and find they feel a bit restrictive. Not even a huge fan on guitars. But agreed that they should be an option.
@accountingink11 ай бұрын
@@GotAUkulele Thanks. Maybe that is it, its not a deal breaker for some counsumers. Having the option for smaller ukes is also a selling point for younger consumers as well. But having the option certainly increases its functionality and aesthetically its not really seen on the front. You could argue that about any aesthetic choice like having those animal print logos around the soundhole for the etc. Anyhow keep it up.
