I bought one! Right off the back of watching this. And I have to say in my collection it is second only to my Mya-Moe tenor! It is a phenomenal value for money. The intonation is great and the sound coming off the strings even above the 12th fret is incredible for a uke this price. I love playing it. It sits right by me. Thanks for pointing us in this direction, Barry. And, as always Matt's service is speedy and impeccable, too.

One of the most impressive ukes you've reviewed lately. I was pleased with its appearance and your comments on build and playability, but then you played it. Wow, what an amazing tone, loud, crisp, and balanced. And, an excellent value.

Yep, it does sound as good as it looks. Pity they didn't make it 2mm or so wider at the nut, although it's only a mm down on string spacing on your average concert scale. At that price I suppose I could buy one and hang it on the wall to play on a good day for five or ten minutes though. Think it would frustrate me not to be able to take the little fella everywhere with me though. I do think it's a looker though. 🙂
@GotAUkulele4 жыл бұрын
found the neck profile and edge smoothness more than makes up for the width. really comfortable.
It's like finding a world class single malt for 30 quid.

I own the flamed mango version of this ukulele from Millar, and I second you on the remark regarding naming convention : it is indeed a concert scale with a "soprano" body, I am saying that because it this soprano body is actually not that smaller than the body of my concert Kiwaya KTC-2. It is not as big, but not far from it. I have other full fledged sopranos like an Ohana SK-35 and as traditional sopranos their body is much smaller than the Millar long neck "soprano". Hence relating the name to an hypothetic body size seems to be a little problematic. I don't care because the Millar sound so good but some might be interested :). Thanks again for all those entertaining and informative ukes videos Baz.

HOW much? That's crazy cheap. If I was looking for something new, I'd probably get this in a heartbeat. I absolutely *love* the tone, even despite this being spruce and not cedar (my favourite). And that binding, ah, *chef's kiss*. yes, it's maybe a little loud but it looks to be impeccably made, esp on the pics you provided. You sound so enamored with it. I think it would be cool if you could keep it

You should also test the tone up and down the neck when you start tuning to see if it stays in tune, no sharps and flats.

it does. if it didn’t can assure you I’d say so and demonstrate it!

I think I will have to invest in one, think we put them in the Pono range but value for money for the different top to the back and sides is where millar to me streaks ahead compared to Pono on price, but we do have to remember that all Pono comes with a ebony fret board which to me is a upgrade from rosewood, but on the other hand the Millar coming with the gloss finish brings it back to great value for money, me sitting with 5 Pono’s one will have to go to invest in a Millar most likely a concert

Add a K&K Aloha Twin passive pickup (no preamp necessary with those), and you’d have a nice, compact busking uke. Not sure about the yippee-ki-yi-oh purfling.
