Great way to use an old lampshade for a different purpose… Do basically the same thing and you can even put a cardboard bottom in it or just put a plant down inside of the lampshade to make it look like a very big nice expensive pot works great try it

Great idea with the wallpaper,so there is a wall paper I like can’t afford to do entire wall but with your idea I can bring in the wallpaper in my decor,thanks😊
@bossmom1273 Жыл бұрын
I did this with a navy blue/gold geometric pattern peel and stick wallpaper I found at dollar tree. I'm redecorating my office space and I covered a lamp shade in that and also used it on an old cookie sheet that I hung up and use as a magnetic board. I don't always like the hometalk projects but I always appreciate the inspiration they give me to use things I already have!

please please please don't put a lightbulb in anything made of wood. We had a kitchen cabined burn because it was left slightly ajar and under a lightbulb that got hot and burned the cabinet. They do not have to touch to burn the wood!

Wow! Was it an old-fashioned light bulb that gets hot or an LED light bulb?

Now I have a lamp shade with pleats in it, I wonder if I could cover it with wallpaper and make it flat but idk it could just make it worse so I might just spray paint to spruce it up but this was fantastic, thank you!

I would have used those picture hanging strips by 3M Command strips that can be removed and then snapped back together instead of foamy double-sided tape that can't be removed without damaging something or other. I felt that was incredibly... not smart on their part.

4:48 I love the lamp, but someone's going to have to explain how in the world that solar light is supposed to get any kind of sun in order to have the power to light up. That just doesn't make any sense.

My guess is they keep the solar part out in the sun all day then pop it in the lamp in the evenings. I've done it with those cheap solar lights.. just a pain remembering to take them back out of whatever to put back in the sun

These lampshade ideas are good but why does hometalk always have a design that is twine wrapped around something. There have to be better design styles. Also after you glued all those bowls together, you could have remade a thrift store lamp and gotten the same result. I think it would be more stable and cheaper.
@mikeboothe Жыл бұрын
That’s true but the ideas are great for using what you have instead of buying new. I think that’s the point.-Susan

Instead of this type of covering... Try Decorative Napkins. I've made many a shade that came out gorgeous As far as specialize Plasters - Consider Faux EFFECTS International - Sandstone, Lusterstone, etc.

All that is nice, but my problem with DIY lampshades is: how to attach a basis to it, since I bought the basis and the lampshade from different sources. 😢

Really great ideas! My favorite was the lamp at 6:05. So beautiful. The lamp remake starting at :50, using the stucco and mud and the push pin dots of brown & black (too many steps), and had a concrete looking finish was not a favorite at all. Didnt get the idea. All of the other ideas were great.
