Miles Williams you got that right. I was admiring it myself. What a gorgeous bass. I just ordered the Epiphone Jack Casady signature bass and I'll be paying on that for a while but the next one will definitely (maybe) be a yellow Telecaster bass.

There is no best ...music is not a competition..all are great and have something musically unique to offer rather there playing styles and abilities..being less or more...the battle of the bands ...whom'$s best or better at this or that...music is not a war ..nor is it some kind of game to win ...it is not a competition... and musician's ..well there's just as many none flashy none showing off famous musician's as there are ..flashy show off look at me ..look what i can do type famous musicians..all are good ..my favorites are the none show off..none competitive...cause they're truly playing for the love of music...and that's how it should be ..rather one may find what they have to offer good or not ...

This is the proof (as if we Bassists need it) that the Bass Guitar has come a long way & if it wants to it can happily sit in the background laying down the beat with the drummer/or stepping up to be more expressive all the while not stepping on the toes of the lead guitarist or singer & finally stepping right up front & showing that it is as expressive & emotive as any instrument... I started out on drums with some dabbling with acoustic & electric guitar but unbeknownst to me a seed had already been planted before I even picked up a drum stick because many of the movies from the 70s pushed a more jazz like or funk score within their movies & an unlikely source was watching Clint Eastwood in the first 3 Dirty Harry movies, as he brought on board Lalo Shifrin to bring a jazz fussion mix with an orchestra as Clint Eastwood is a huge Jazz Fan & his son Kyle is too & it's a great Fretless Bass Player in his on right... Just watched how a more modern (for the time) use of drums/bass & vocalizing drives that movie along, especially in the chase scenes as the Bass Guitar tempo along with the Drums speeds up to give you that heightened sense of danger in any given moment in the same way John William's used his music to signify that though you couldn't see it but " the shark was there " & the music would speed up to let you know the shark was chasing its pret & closing in on a kill or then gradually slow down if its prey got out of the water in time... Clint definitely studied Sergio Leone's way of putting his film scenes together & how he would work with Ennio Morricone on the films score while he made those 3 Classic Spaghetti Westerns, especially the use of vocalizing with a females voice... In Dirty Harry Lalo used this perfectly & to great effect when the serial killer known onky as " Scorpio " is scoping out the general area of where he intends to shoot someone from while on the roof & as Scorpio puts his rifle together the Music speeds up & then starts speed up even more when Scorpio is looking through his scope & determining which innocent victim to kill & you can here the drum beat & bass guitar speed up in unison along with the vocalizing being more frequent & also speeding up & there's 2 perfect examples of this in Dirty Harry, once at the start as the serial killer Scorpio is looking through him sights at the building across from him & there's a lady swimming on the roof tops swimming pool, the time is when he's is on the roof of residential homes & is looking to kill a black person & a priest & again the most drives those scenes across but in a more modern way by using modern popular instruments... And I have Clint Eastwood & Palo Shifrin to thank for putting onto music at such an early age along with Ennio Morricone... I only picked up the bass guitar back in the late 80's as my friend from childhood, who was a lead & Rythmn guitarist, kept bugging me to pick up the bass guitar & give it a try but I wasn't interested until one day something just clicked inside me & I could hear & feel what I really wanted to play inside my head & that's was & is the electric bass guitar & soon as I picked one up I felt compelled to play the Bass Guitar rather than the Drums or any other instrument within a band... I definitely believe playing the bass guitar is a calling as your drawn to it & you just don't play it you express yourself through it & make your bass lines as emotive as possible... In light of the still ongoing coronavirus outbreak stay safe and healthy where ever you are in the world... .....

Nicole Badila (3.05) seems to remember that the essence of bass playing is first and foremost to provide the foundations of the building, to give a solid root (and solid can be very attractive as well) to the other band members. May she be blessed for this....and her bass sounds great...ity sounds like a REAL bass.
@greatwhite619673 жыл бұрын
What happened to Remco Hendrix hands as if seen him play on many KZbin uploads & though hes stil got hos own distinct style that he can still play ive never noticed that is hands have almost aged before they should hsve been then again he does wear them out play some amaxing bass lines that would add on year's to many bassists... Eric Csar is about the best fretless bass player/when he's using it/that I've seen on KZbin as his basslines are always very emotive & he gets the sound of a fretless spot on for me... I was going to mention there are many more until i checked the description & it said 3rd Compilation of Bassist, so i'll need to find Parts 1 & 2... Not enough females on this list since many young ladies have taken up the bass guitar in the last 15 to 20 years so you know, even it out, as there are way too many male bassists & barely any female bassists & it has nothing to do with ogling at women but the that there are some amazing female Bassists out there so give them a shout put as i think only saw 1 female bassist in this compilation... Im so glad i ditched the drums/occasionally play my acoustics but im glad my friends bugged me fir months to pick up the bass guitar in the late 80s because at that time i just wasnt into it & thougj i had noticed some brilliant basd players it just didnt resonate with me until i pick it up & since then ive never looked as the bass was usually always the one instrument you had to bug people to pick it up as no one wanted to play it but thise days are long gone & i see more experimentation with styles on bass that i do on the electric lead & rythmn guitar... Do dont always have to do anything fancy like most in this compilation as long as you serve the song & put emotional content into your bass lines is the best way in my honest opinion & though i love the experimentations by these bassist i can see why many get put off with some bass players & instead of noticing that they are playing in a different style than others I've heard many of my friends moan about this & they just call it showing off... Theres another description for this but its a bit rude to type on KZbin & no doubt most if not all of these bassist in this compilation have heard it called this also... To give you an idea of what i prefer with regsrds to emotional content within bass lines then id have to go with predominantly fretless bass guitar player for many years in his youth & that would be Pino Palladino... As he always had basd lines that would be question & answer while working with Paul Young when he was singing & he continued to perform many more emotive bass lines & slap funky bass lines while working with Paul Young/Go West/Tears For Fears & many many more acts... Though now he mostly plays fretted bass with The Who if memory serves me correctly & another fretless bass player who was a one on a million that had his own distinctive style of playing was the late great Mick Karn & when he moved over to playing Wal Fretless Bass Guitar's he sound so much much than what was on the album versions...I've never seen or heard anyone play the bass guitar the way Mick Karn did & to put those ecletic bass lines on a fretless & be pitch perfect was a sight to behold... I like that your making up compilations of current bass players but it would be great to see compilations of those who are from the past as if it wasnt for those trail blazers the idea of playing the electric bass guutar & it being an integral part of any band would've went nowhere... In light of the still ongoing coronavirus outbreak stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world... .....
