July 2012, I transitioned from being an instructor at Ft. Rucker in primary division to flying helicopter ems for Med-Trans Corporation / Wings Air Rescue located in East Tennessee. Aircraft of choice is the Bell 407, which I will be flying. Before starting with Med-Trans I had no prior Bell 407 experience but even after training I'm looking forward to seeing just how capable this aircraft is in the world of HEMS.
It was a 10-15hr course consisting of 5 hours of day, 1 hr night un-aided, 5 hours night aided (night vision goggles)
The Bell 407 is an amazing machine. Powerful and responsive, like a little sports car. Stable, but at the same time unstable (any small input will be felt). Capable of transporting a 450lb patient with fuel and med crew on board.
