sick pour. any tips or pointers for me? i just got hired at a pump company and i’m starting as an oiler/helper but the plan is to become an operator as soon as i get my cdl and finish high school.

Always keep learning. After a couple of years there can be a tendency for operators to think they know a lot more than they do. They say you cease learning is the day you begin to regress as an operator. 25 years of doing this and I still learn something new every single day in this constantly evolving industry.

Ive learned that concrete pumps loves rpm. Too bad we only get around 1800 rpm. Still a long way down to the red area! Were not even passing the yellow marking!

I believe they are engineered this way as keep the engine within its peak toque curve when the hydraulic pumps are at max revolutions.

The hydraulic pump is so painfully underrated when it comes to pressure and flow. Especially Friday afternoon when packing up the pump after the last job. The legs are barely moving, and the mast don't move at all. Folding up the b-boom has the same effect as watching paint dry. On essence, we need more flow and more rpm!

I've found that around 2020 EOC got a lot more consistent. Seems to just hold 1450ish untill 75%+ demad. Only time i don't use EOC is on system days. Pumped 10k n.p around 6 on the dial, EOC on, '20 model 56z. My 63z hasn't really been plugged into more than 100' yet, but EOC is freakin SOLID 1450, all day, 1250 for outriggers and water, 0 variance.

Even the EOC on this 2015 model 56Z is light years ahead of the program on our 2008 58Z. The early iterations were pretty much useless IMO

@canadianconcretepumper1979 the early EOC was used for setup only lol that '05 63z i used to run would have seizures if i tried to use EOC while pumping. As we get further into tech, it only gets better.

I’m one of the partners in the business; which I concrete pumping means I do pretty much a bit of everything. I try and sneak in filming whenever I can (it’s actually much easier to manage when I’m not running the equipment, but just on site checking in on things/overseeing).

You must have almost $20,000 just in DICA stuff on that truck. I've got a mechanical question for you. We changed the gland seals in a differential cylinder on a schwing today. I'm curious if you have any tricks on getting all the seals to go back on the rod? Since there is nothing that actually holds all the seals in the gland they were pretty hard to get pushed back on. We used the cap to push it on which worked but it was a little miserable.

I’m admittedly Schwing illiterate. If anyone in the comments whom is more familiar with Schwing repair and wants to jump in and help a fellow pumper out, please do so. The way I always looked at the Dica gear is: million + dollar machine, $15K to keep it upright and those safe whom are working underneath of it is an easy decision for us. The Dica stuff is an investment for sure, but with lifetime warranty on most of it, and l believe 10 year warranty on everything else, it does save us time/labour in that we are no longer doing our annual wooden dunnage pad building spree in the shop 😁😁😁

56 meters vertical reach for this one (61 meters horizontal). 10 years ago this would have been one of the bigger pumps, these days however we’re seeing boom pumps up to 70 meters.

Yes, fully short-rigged on the driver/working-working side. Working within the parameters of the OSS limit switches we were able to reach the entire pour area here.
