This is a video on how we rebuild diffs. Simple $75.00 clutch pack at local parts store/racing outlet will get you rolling. THis is an 8.8 axle from a 89 ford mustang. Simple 28 spline factory stuff. This works on 31 spline factory stuff and the same rules apply for aftermarket differentials too.

I've always put a extra disc in clutch pack and never had a problem with it works great have you ever did that before

Ya but if we put 4 per spider it makes the pack too thick. We thought about that too. Factory only had 3 anyways iirc

The trick is trying to get that 'S' In, when the diff. is still in car.

The trick is to position the spring on the spider gear to where one blow of a short handle 3 lb. sledge hammer will get the other angle started. But yes. Until you discover the exact angle to position the spring. It can drive you nuts getting that spring in.

I used steel-fiber-steel-fiber-steel-fiber-steel. Made no sense to me to have two steels together?

Problem on mine is that is always 2 wheel peel, even when turning. Stock 89 fox body rear end! Is that normal for the trac loc to be stuck engaged all the time?

You should do a video on how to set backlash tooth contact on these diffs, I've wanted to do 3.55 or 3.73's in my car but I'm wary about it just cause I don't know if we can get the backlash and tooth contact back to where it should be.

I want to try rebuilding a 31-spline diff. The carbon disc kit (M-4700-C) lists for $108. Which kit is better, the regular (M-4700-B) for $74 or the $108 carbon kit?

@@Neomustangs Right now, 320 hp to the wheels through a stock AOD and converter. Holley SM2, TFS 11R 190 heads and a Ed Curtis cam. I'm not sure if I want to put an On3 kit on it or swap in a 351W and reuse the 11R heads.
