18 months, 50 countries, 90.000 kilometers - how I rode around the world on a motorcycle solo as a female traveler and what I learned along the way.
This video is for everyone who wants to see some parts of my journey around the world - but the highlights and the most memorable and intimate encounters - the lows and highs of my trip - you will only find in my book.
// It would mean the world to me if you support my journey by buying my book - and please leave a good review on Amazon, so it will be suggested to other people as well!
// Order the paperback book on Amazon: www.amazon.com...
// Order the ebook for kindle: www.amazon.com...
// Or access the book over the Amazon page of your country by searching for "Got2Go" "Lea Rieck"
// Your family. Your friends. Your job. Your language. Your life, as you know it. Imagine you leave all of this behind, and just go on a ride around the world. 18 months, 50 countries, 90.000 kilometers of adventure.
In my travelogue I tell a story of falling and getting up again, of courage and serenity, faith in oneself and other people, empathy, hope and determination. About setting out - but not to learn to fear the world, but to find adventure, friendship and love.
The moment that changes everything can come at any time. For me it's a normal Monday morning in the office when I saw a colleague watering a plant with Evian mineral water. I quit my job, left my comfort zone and set off on a trip around the world.
Just my motorcycle Cleo and me, all alone.
But what do you do when there's a military coup right in front of your window? If your lover turns out to be a Russian sniper? Or if you burn your eyes in the highest altitude desert of the world? You learn your lesson and move on.
The journey takes me past 8,000-meter-high mountains in Pakistan, through temples in India, to the safe shores of Australia, into the driest desert in the world in Chile and Bolivia - and in the end back to Germany. Breathlessly, I let my intuition and instincts guide me, experienced the highs and lows of traveling alone. I begans to see the world from a different angle, and discovered life in all its different facets and forms.
"'Dwell in the land and you shall be fed.' - that is out of the question for Lea Rieck. The more adventurous, the better. The worst journeys, she says, are the best." Hans Magnus Enzensberger
„Absolutely worth reading" - Podcast Cosmopolitan
"Lea Rieck [...] convinces with polished language and clever analyses [...] a brilliant read with challenges and surprises even for non-motorcyclists. One wants to go on riding with Lea forever." - Motorrad Magazin
"Wittily written, but still very close to heart [...] a real page-turner!“ - Motorrad Abenteuer
// Time of journey: May 2016 - November 2017
// NEW EPISODE OUT EVERY THURSDAY 19:30 CET
// Welcome to the journey! I am Lea Rieck, a journalist and author and I want to take you with me on a motorcycle overlanding adventure to all the wild and beautiful places in the world!
// I circumnavigated the world solo from 2016-2017 and now I am going to all other places I have not seen yet. Now on the channel: the first stage of the journey through westafrica, my motorcycle ride from Germany to North Cape "Expedition North" and the best places to do a roadtrip to in Europe.

The most powerful lessons I have taken from watching similar wonderful videos such as yours Lea, is that it is our governments that tell us how bad other countries are. People are the same all over the world and the most generous are those with the least. Thank you, your story is enchanting.

It's too bad we were not able to see the world trip on video as you are doing now, but everyone has the opportunity to experience it in your book. I read Elspeth Beard's book who was the first woman to traverse the world on a motorcycle back in the 80s. She basically did the same trip as your video shows here, but without GPS, cell phone, or even a good map. Not to downplay your courageous adventure in any way, it is an incredible feat. One day when you are old and grey, you will be sitting in a rocking chair, and these images will be on the shelf and on the wall, showing you as a young woman, doing these amazing things. That is called a truly successful life.

Yes I am full of admiration for her. The first trip that I did when I made my motorcycle license was from Munich to Istanbul - and I had no gps and no working mobile phone either, just paper maps. I can’t even imagine anymore how I survived this trip 😂😂😂

Traveling through Arab countries, Pakistan and India as a woman, A LONE WOMAN - is absolutely crazy... You have NO IDEA how lucky they were to not get raped and/or killed... You have no idea... The amount of foreign women that get abducted, tortured, raped and killed EVERY SINGLE MONTH is crazy high! Especially in Pakistan and India!

That’s very true! I always say: you are never alone if you don’t want to be alone (I had a quite lonely phase in South America because it just felt very good)

You are the greatest human being I have ever met. 80000 km 1.5 years in most dangerous places of the world is a great job indeed. I also travelled a lot in South of France with my motorcycle but what you did is really a great job congratulations. I will also buy your book it should be very interesting.

Fabulous video. Yes , you are a very courageous lady . A special person who has touched many lives , positively. It is a pity ' you tube ' did not promote your videos more . Maybe now your viewing will shoot up to where it should be. The very best of luck for your future. Thank you for sharing this amazing part of your life.

Your travels are amazing but your ability to tell your story and carry us along with you is what is really special. Your cinematography and production is better than most television networks deliver. As an adventure rider, I dream of taking some of the journeys you have taken and I wish I could capture the memories as you have. Do you also do your own video editing? Keep the videos coming and I look forward to getting your book.

That’s great, thanks for supporting me and getting the book! I edit a lot myself but as well have some help of a super talented editor from the Philippines who works on many of my videos with me meanwhile as I don’t find the time to do the whole editing. (On this one I for example edited the whole beginning of the video and then I had no time to Finnish and he took over - and then I again do an edit in the end to be happy with the final version)

great determination and courage after your first spill, we have all been there, not an if but definitely a when. Well done Lea, I'd be interested to know what trouble you got in to with the MC 1%er, as I was a full patch 1%er many years ago, I would have commended you for your trip and made sure that no trouble came your way if you had visited our chapter.

Very cool -- I'll have to read the book. When I was in Romania in 2012 (bicycling from Turkey to Croatia) I crossed paths with a German guy who was heading for South Africa by motorcycle...
