I own a Bonanza concert amoeba slimline in HPL and I absolutely love it. It is easy to play and being a new uke player makes me appreciate that so much. I love the slim design as I find the typical deep body to be difficult and uncomfortable to hold. My husband spoke to them to complete the purchase and they are wonderful people. I also love to support US brands and also living in MN makes it an even easier choice. I enjoy your reviews and your review of their HPL is what helped me make the decision to buy. When they started offering slimline that clinched it. Looks like you really enjoyed this quite a bit. Thank you for taking the time to do these reviews.

@@bonniedavidson936 No worries - i've liked all of them that i've played. The Oreo is a bit fuller - the Oakridge feels like the homestead - but is cheaper and I REALLY fell for the mellow sound! I'd get the regular shape myself thought - also in a concert.

That is a nice looking and sounding ukulele. I don't think hand made is quite accurate. The Bonanza Ukulele site itself does not claim the instruments are hand made. I think CNC machined parts, CNC Laser etching for the models with Laser etching, and hand assembled would be more accurate. There is nothing wrong with using CNC woodworking equipment. It produces accurate parts in a very repeatable manner. It's just not truly hand made. I have seen several high end custom luthiers here in the states that advertise the fact that the necks of their instruments are made with 3D CNC routers in order for them to have as consistent and accurate shape as possible. I think a more accurate description of Bonanza Ukulele is they apply modern woodworking equipment and production techniques to the Ukulele in a very successful manner.
@GotAUkulele6 жыл бұрын
In which case koaloha, Kanile’a, Pete Howlett etc are not hand made either... sheeeesh.
@GotAUkulele6 жыл бұрын
To add... ken Timms, antica ukuleleria... i could go on... the distinction is - made by a guy at home - not on a factory line...
@DanielFlores-ku8os6 жыл бұрын
I wish his website would show photos of the workshop. Don't get me wrong Bonaza Ukuleles look and sound nice. I would just like to see his workshop. I am quite familiar with the equipment needed to produce Bonaza Ukuleles. They are not coming from a typical "home" woodshop. Rather more likely a professional well equipped modern cabinet shop. I don't think that is bad. Rather it is good because clearly the consumer is benefiting from the lower prices of their products then if they were completely hand made. I think the sophistication of the Bonanza workshop and what it brings to the Bonanza products is a strong potential selling point
@GotAUkulele6 жыл бұрын
The same as koaloha (necks machined in the far east) but some of the best ukes on the planet. I’m not sure if the point here - are they only hand made if every piece of wood is carved by hand tools? That’s nuts. Pete is a guy in a shed, not a factory..
