I think it’s a beautiful uke. I love different and high craftsmanship. This has it in spades. I’d be proud to own and play this one.

i was eager to hear you play it; Kanile'a never disappoints when it comes to tone. It must certainly check your "woody/warm tenor uke" box. I expected it to be a bit pricey, but it came in cheaper than I expected. Kanile'a produced several videos in the past couple of years on these technical innovations that the current models have. While line is outside my price range, I value Kanile'a's R&D and product development. It must be the most advanced producer of modern ukuleles, and that makes an excellent review subject. Excellent review.

Hi Baz, that sounds absolutely gorgeous. I love a low G Tenor and that sound is simply sublime. Regarding the colour, I don't mind it at all. It would definitely stand out in a crowd that's for sure. I kinda wish it wasn't glossed though and was satin. As you would say, that is subjective. What a lovely, lovely instrument. Way out of my league price wise but hats off to anybody who can! Thanks for another great review. Can tell you loved doing that one.

Oooh, love the staining, such a warm summery feeling. Then you played it and it is, as expected, clearly a pinnacle of Ukulele innovation and quality, which shone through. Nice Uke, I would just need 6 numbers to come in and my playing to be far better. Great review and thanks for the run through, have a great week.

Not for me due to colors and price. But a nice tenor. The multi color thing is often found on low budget ukes. Just an odd marketing choice tbh.

I just adore flame maple. The back and sides remind me of a high end 🎻 violin. And the tone, it’s delightful. But those stain colors…..nope, it’s gaudy. I couldn’t play it onstage. Had it been stained a “normal” color, it’d make me drool. Happy World Ukulele Day, Baz.
@GotAUkulele13 сағат бұрын
I guess choices are good - they do a flamed maple in ghost grey, and the custom shop have done plain maple and seafoam green too. I get not everyone will like this though, but you can get others.

Thank you for the great review! I bought one last year, not because of the looks, but because of the amazing sound samples I kept hearing. It didn’t disappoint. It’s sounds absolutely incredible. I’m still neutral on the looks, but, for me, the it’s sound is what matters and that is killer. I saw Alex from SUS with a beautiful green one lately. I know there is another less colorful version as well, if you love the sound but not the coloring (and can afford the steep price tag). Thanks!

Not been tempted by this model before (and I love a bit of uke-bling) but your review model seems to have a wider range of colouring than the ones I have seen, going through to that deep cherry red. Lovely!

For aesthetics it's hard to beat maple. I suspect one of these in their traditional color would look fantastic also, maybe better? Out of curiosity I hope they do one.

I used to have a Flight 10th Anniversary maple and eventually gave it away because it was too bright. The Kanilea maple is much warmer but i still prefer their koa versions. I wish i could have gotten a mango uke when they were making them. I think i saw that Alex at SUS got some Olis. I have one and love it- hope maybe that's yoyr review for next week.??

Wish they had saved money by choosing a single color. And while flaming adds bling, a uniform and tightly grained top is generally preferable in terms of tone. That said, this sounds nicely resonant. Matters not; I am out of ukulele money for the foreseeable future!

@nigeldavey104312 сағат бұрын
When I was a youngster I had it drummed into me the importance of getting the best tools you could afford. Any discrepancies are then down to you and thus must be improved upon by you, the craftsman. Every time I play my Kanile'a Concerts I think exactly what you said, they deserve better than me, because they are superb. I've said before that I don't like artificial colours on an Ukulele and on a masterbuilt instrument like this it's a travesty. It's tantamount to ridiculing the instrument and we get enough of that from detractors as it is. I know it's subjective, I know some will crave it but NO , I don't even like sol id body Guitar copy Ukes. Sounds beautiful though. Ohh and if I hadn't bought my first one as a pristine but pre owned K1C I wouldn't have been able to afford two, not on my pension and at my standard of proficiency I certainly don't warrant this standard of instrument. I do have the Tee shirt that states that I play it because I like it, not because I'm good at it though. If they ever make one in Honey colour Maple i will covet it though. 🤔🙄
