Gotek + Amiga Format Disk Issue

I just commented on another of your videos, just got my first Gotek for my A1200 and it has the AT32F415, so i think i will return it and get one of yours instead as you also have the Extra screen installed. Thank-you for your information and support on this device for Amiga!

Hallo! Very useful info. Luckily, I had ordered a bunch of Goteks (ST) some years ago for my retro collection needs, and they are still working so now I don't need more. For now, at least!

I switched to the hxc firmware some weeks ago and i can now confirm that it seems to fix these issues on my setup (Amiga 500 with a 415 Gotek) with ADF files (not tried HFE files). 🙂

Thanks for this update. It is much needed. I had similar issues with my music instruments and hardware samplers after using artery goteks, a workaround was using a transcend USB stick , i also reformatted a floppy image on one of my working goteks, which helped, but the game changer was inot connecting the speaker / buzzer mod, . Which now works perfectly, I am going to try your method and let you know. Thanks again

This issue also extends to any platform that requires users to use the HFE disk image format, such as the TRS-80. Also, I'm glad to hear that you have the 435-based Goteks available, as I need some to complete my TRS-80 Model 4P upgrade, so don't be surprised if I ask for two in black one I have a few extra dollars for some more Goteks.

I bought one of these new Goteks last month, and it's a 415. Is the problem solely related to Workbench operations? Do you think the 415 will istill function okay as a game device (ADF loader) with a non-HDD A500? Very Informative video, thank you.

The only issue is about writing to ADFs. Reading disk images is never an issue.

Thank you for a good and informative video. My problem is that I don´t know if my chipversion is the 415 or 435. How can I identify which chip I have? I bought it in the October 2021.

The microcontroller on the board inside the case has the model number. You might need magnification to read it. I know I do.

Would it be possible to desolder the 415 and solder the 435 as an upgrade ? Or is the mainboard lay-out different ? I have the tools and skill to do so...

I do not know. The answer would be to look up the data sheets for both chips and see if the pins are the same.

Actually come to think of it I think the likelihood is very low. The boards are different between the two. These new microcontrollers can have their own clock source and memory management, which may make them interchangeable in some cases, but there's got to be a reason why Gotek used different boards.
