That was 2012 but in 2023, she is still a powerful singer with a beautiful, Godly spirit that fills your heart and draws you into her world. In my opinion, and I respect the opinions of those who differ, she was then and still is the best all around performer. Dimash is phenominal and I would love to be blessed to see him in concert. However, for me, his performances, while a technical and vocal wonder, lack the heart and spirit that are Sohyang. As someone else said when commenting on one of her videos, she could sing her shopping list and it would probably bring me to tears.

I saw a comment from a South Korean recently who said that in their country they have now nick-named Sohyang "the heavenly voice." I think that is very appropriate. 😊 Just as a personal statement, I think that when Sohyang decided she would concentrate her life on singing for the dispossessed and needy, after learning she would not be able to have children following her cancer surgery, that it pleased God so much that He gave her extra talents as a singer. I've never heard anyone who can sing so beautifully. She is the greatest female voice of our times. A once in a lifetime vocalist. Period. She really seemed to take off as a vocalist after about 2010 when she learned how to reach any note with great precision from taking a couple of sessions with Seth Riggs. By 2012, ten years ago, she was knocking these kind of performances out of the park routinely. And that is no easy thing! She is very versatile, as she also sings rock and raps as well as the ballads, etc. that you have reacted to. There are several wonderful performances in the "Masked Singer" competition from several years ago (watch out for KBS copyright strikes). She did a rock performance of "Mona Lisa", as well as great renditions of "Home" (I felt that I was soaring in the sky) and "Breathe" (one of my favorites). There are just so many great performances!

You never cease to surprise me. I no more expected a reaction to this than a reaction to 'Arirang Alone'. There are lots of So-hyang videos on KZbin from the program 'Begin Again Korea', solos and duets and songs in English, and I've seen others successfully react to them.

Actually, Sohyang has stated plainly in interviews that her voice "is from God." She also makes it crystal clear that you can't just sing like she does. You have to have that God given talent first. There is no way around that. But Sohyang has also said that she had to work _very_ hard to develop it. God given talent and _really_ hard work is the only way to sing like her. I love that she gives God the glory for it and then states clearly that it is only achieved through really applying yourself. 👌💘
