It takes so long because she was an unknown, until she opened her mouth. We all have our favorites and sometimes we are reluctant to even entertain the notion that there might be a better voice out there. Then of course she opens her mouth and your worst fears are realized. I have to say right here that her back up singer are tremendous as well. Near the end some of the chords that they produced were sublime. So has such a distinctive tonal quality that you will be able to pick her out easily. I just thought of something funny. She is the only singer that when you say her performance was just "so, So"! be a compliment!! Anyway, you asked why you might be slow in wanting to listen to her. I just thought about why I would be slow in listening to her might be.

I'm normally not into vocalists like this, but her skill and charisma are overwhelming. I can't help but be a fan. Her stated goal with her music is to bring comfort to people going through difficult times. It's working as I first heard her while I was only a day or two out from major surgery, one that involved a painful recovery period. She made me smile when I was alone and hurting, and she took my mind off of what I had just been through.

A singer like Sohyang only comes along once or twice in a lifetime. So if you are looking for her equal, I've been around for 64 years now and have never found one solitary example of it. 🤷‍♂ Whitney Houston's former manager saw Sohyang perform this very example of "I Have Nothing" on KZbin and was so stunned he showed her to Oprah Winfrey. Oprah was so flabbergasted that she sent the material to David Foster. David Foster was so dumbfounded that he arranged a concert with Sohyang for Vancouver, British Columbia. But she had to cancel out, for reasons she didn't specify but it was likely the running battle with pneumonia that she suffered through from 2016 to 2020. So David Foster rescheduled her concerts with him to Tokyo's famous Blue Note Club in late November and early December of 2018. In case you don't know, David Foster wrote "I Have Nothing" for Whitney Houston and produced it for her for both the movie "The Bodyguard" and the album. Foster is without question the most famous and influential music producer in the world. He places Sohyang on the very highest tier of singers right along with Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and the rest. Now that is true praise indeed! 👌💘😎😉

Since So Hyang is a gospel singer, that is why you feel like you are in church with many of her songs I recommend many of her performances from the Masked Singer: 1. Breathe- probably my most favorite song of hers that pierces your heart 2. Home- this song makes me feel like I'm flying and soaring in the sky 3. Hug Me- every time I've seen her sing this song, she gets very emotional; it must have a special place in her heart 4. Mona Lisa- she sings Rock! (to show her versatility) 5. Day Day- she Raps! (again to show she can sing any genre) You have had a meteoric rise in such a short time to get 100K subscribers. I'm not sure you know how hard it is to get 100K, and in such a short period of time! Most KZbinrs spend years and can't even get 10K. Your diversity in singers that you react to is one reason. Keep up your enthusiasm and genuine reactions!

In it, she is playful, cute, charming, and dramatic, and, of course, flawless in her delivery. Notice that her belt buckle is embossed with the word POWER. I am happy to see you got to this song by So Hyang. It is one of the best live performances ever sung by any singer in musical recorded history! She is that good. And it may not even be her very best live performance (that is up for debate) because she has so many incredible performances. Thanks for reacting. She is a musical master and somehow more than that. I did listen to that live performance as you suggested. WH is sooooo great. This rendition of So Hyang's is also amazing to me. I prefer it. But that is only my opinion. It has everything to do with how my ears hear and not 'one over the other'. I love Whitney's voice. All time great! I just think there is always room for the truth. So Hyang is a beast!
