There is a saying my mom says when she sees certain stuff about fashion. It might sound weird but here it is: *"Fashion always does a full circle"* what does she mean with that? That certain elements of fashion are returning again. She used to work in a clothing store since she was 20 years old and now she sees the clothing style and the techniques they used then. We were having a conversation and the topic went to fashion she gave me a few examples: *"We were wearing this pants in the 80's."* or *"These accessories were very trendy in mid 90's"* etc. I looked at her straight in the eye and said *"One day the Goths and Emos are gonna be trending again. Mark my words mom!"* she rolled her eyes but I do believe that.

The thing with grown up women is, that they don't depend on other opinions. I am 37 and I have bright green hair and I wear only black and white. I love Hot Topic, because they always have so much Beetlejuice stuff! I don't know why its considered only a "teen shop", like when you get older even you are a goth, you have to dress more sophisticated and expensive! No! Simply NO! Who the f*ck desides how much money I spend on my clothing?! Its only me! I didn't start this whole look to separate myself from "normal" people. I just loved that style, I love Tim Burton. I don't want to separate myself from others, I just like that look and music (I adore THE CURE). The separation comes from other people, because they reduce people to their looks. BTW to find a job with green hair is really difficult, even you don't work with customers. No one asks how much experience you have or how good you can do a job. But there are people who look under your appearance (as it is SO aggressivly different) and see that you are pretty good in your job. Trust me, if you have same issues like I did with finding a job, once you decide not to change your appearance for others, you will find the right job for you!

I feel like these types of articles pop up whenever high fashion goes goth. Which happens at least once a decade it seems. I remember in the early oughts it was supereasy to buy goth clothing EVERYWHERE because it was in vogue (literally). I don't mind if that happens again. Also, I'm an Elder Goth (51) and wear what I damn want. I remember when I was 26 people constantly asked me when I was going to grow out of my Goth phase. HA.

There are cheap alternatives, also you can do a lot by yourself. Like the spiked leather jacket ;) Took me two weekends to made that one, but it looks awesome. Have it now for 10 years and its still in a pretty good condition. I got the jacket from a thrift store, pretty heavy. I didn't want to spend money on a new one made out of faux leather. I wanted it to last. Also you can make so much by yourself, it doesn't always need to be KILLSTAR or even you want that, look up for online shops and search for it second hand. You will find a lot goth brands in a good condition a lpt cheaper than the actual price. And if you have some basics, some DIYs and also some second hand goth brand stuff, you have it all! There will be even more with the years, all baby bats starts from scratch. But you collect a lot over the years :)

I love corsets and black velvet and lace etc when not working. When you get older you just adjust your look, ( ie my skirt hems are not so short!) you don’t suddenly have to start to wear pastel Pringle jumpers and tweed skirts! I will be gothic until I die. And everyone had better wear black to my funeral or I will haunt them! 🖤 and yes, health goth is a ‘thing’, think gothic gym wear etc. 🙄

This is better than I thought it'd be as well. Side the parts that are...Just awkward lol.. However a few things seem to be off in her 'facts' too, unless I am the one missing something; Robert Smith had released a statement that he isn't Goth..? Nor is his band..? Other than that though, not too bad. "Cyber-Goth" is apparently a huuuuge debate on whether or not it can be called "Goth" *rolls eyes*, but i think the rest here, up to 7:10, where I currently left off... Is right when it comes to background checking like the Bands,.. (I am agreeing with you). As for all these things like "Health Goth"? I ....I just can't even. Lol. And Goth being this, unease? I don't know, I can see it, but I can't entirely swing this way or that way on it. Some feel that way I have found, and some dont. It's definetely turned...Mainstream, though from how it started...That's for sure. As long as people understand what it is at the core, and respect it...I don't have a problem. It's only when they insist things always were that weren't...That's like "Now wait just a minute there". ya know? Thank you for doing this Video, I do appreciate it and love your videos. (Sorry I have been absent, things have been...Challenging. So I'm in and out. Haven't posted what I've wanted to...) 10:55 - 11:11 I could not agree more. Thank you for saying that. On that note? Then when we aren't treated as a kid? Well, it can go a little something like this: I actually had a neighbor in his...60s? Interrogate me over my spiked choker in front of his friends. Asking what it meant, what kind of statement I was going for, etc. (Sounds civil, but I'm leaving out his insulting comments) His friends were genuinely interested though, especially when I said "Goth". One woman asked me "So it's more like a Necklace then?" I agreed. He, however? Insisted it was....Well... Let's just say he told one of them to clip a Leash to it and that's when I put my foot down and then left. (Because of his attitude with it, I'm not including everything said of course) There is still a lot of stigma when it comes to what Goth even is and is not. So I'm sadly not surprised this Article is titled what it is, there. Ya know? I have actually ended up in debates with others who didn't understand, or things 'I' missed, etc.. It's become a convoluted mess... I'd like to see that cleared up. But a lot of things are a mess, so I don't know. Just a wish.

Hello lovey and hope you are well in these crazy times. So......hmmmm....it as if the writer of the article is so conformist to change the terms of a Grow up Goth aesthetic. Darling we both know, the dark red, purples, the darkest black, raven, stripes and of sheer dark prints is an everyday goth way of living. The gothic culture has life and continue to evolve to resonate the experience and wellness. The Addams Family idea is cute; though cut the smile to a cynical grin. Remember to use the term as Elder Goth and not as of Growup Goth. There are the elders in the 40-60s til the evermore way of life. The question is goth is not mainstream. Its an entirety of an universe itself. I applaud the writer that recognize my muse Siouxsie and of course the Cure; yet go beyond that. There are many musicians and artists that embrace the goth culture....and the point is Goth is Never a moment or style. True she did bring up Mary Shelley. Though the thought of the writing of Edgar Allan Poe, or of the legendary Bram Stoker Dracula literates the epic.

@@VesselOfBlood Thank you :) I actually am getting Mexican food this weekend, and I have a bit of a 'believe or or not story' about it now. I'm staying over at my mother's place until the corona crisis ends, and we often just talk about whatever we did that day because there's not much else to chat about. I was telling her about your video and my comment once she just got back from the grocery store, because I was having a lazy day and this was one of the highlights of what I've watched today. And she was like 'you're kidding me, I'm making fajitas this weekend'. We didn't even talk on the phone or text each other or anything: she was literally at the store wondering what to make for dinner while I was typing. Taco telepathy, I guess? Oh well, at least me and my mother had a good laugh about that article. Just... does the writer of that thing not know that corpgoth as a fashion already exists? And has existed in the subculture since 2014? Did they really think that we wear full goth regalia to a job interview before this article happened? All jokes aside, though: I'm morbidly curious to what Wall Street thought goth was before this.
