This project is so cool. It'd be really cool to see this translated into more realistic models to be put into a game engine. Especially because someone has been creating Arkham gameplay in unreal engine 5, and a revamped Gotham would go along with that perfectly.

If you're struggling for names for buildings, one of the tricks the comics and the Arkham games use is to name places after comic book writers and artists. That's how you get places like Dixon Docks, Port Adams, Dini Towers, Robinson Park or the Sprang River. It makes for neat little easter eggs.

This is something I’ve wanted to see happen with these games, to really try and capture the massive feeing that Gotham City really puts in your head, kind of like what the PS4 Spider-Man games do with NYC

This project is so beautiful to look at. I can tell you're putting so much heart and passion into this and its showing 100%. My biggest problem with AK's Gotham was it didnt feel like a place people could live in. I tried driving around in the batmobile like a normal car and the layout is just so strange. It feels more like a detailed hot wheels track than it does a city. And vertically, the map was such a disappointment. Seeing the awe inspiring heights of Gotham beyond City's map was so cool, only to be disappointed with what we eventually got. And its extra sad because in The Art Of Rocksteadys Batman, they have so much concept art of Gotham that TRULY looks like Gotham. Im just very interested and glad to see someone who is putting in the time to make City's Gotham more of a reality. I made sure to subscribe and im liking each one of these videos because i want you to be able to finish this. Hell, i even debated throwing some money your way lol. All in all, great work. This is a huge treat as not only an Arkham fan, but a Batman fan.

Totally agree! Gotham has yet to truly shine in gaming. Even Gotham Knight's GTA-sized map doesn't do the scale justice. Gotham should be towering. I really appreciate the support, in whatever form it may be!

I think adding more fantastical elements like the statues in the Burton Gotham or more pipes and grand industrial looking buildings with chimneys and sprawling pipes and layers would make it feel more like Gotham. I’d also like to see some architectural designs like Art Deco and Art Nouveau mixed in with over the top Gothic cathedral architecture. What makes Gotham distinct is it’s nightmarish sprawling designs that you wouldn’t really find in New York

If I had money to give I would- this project looks awesome. I never was disappointed in the verticality of Arkham Knight but when you mentioned it that got me thinking how much better it would be with more height. Crazy awesome work man.

I think an orphanage would be great. It's not talked about often, but Batman is also Bruce, is Bruce is a philanthrope. I think I saw in a some Batman comic that Bruce created an orphanage in Gotham. I think it'd be cool to make a building that combines the Gothamite style with a more hopeful direction, but in the subtle philanthropic way Bruce does things, especially when it comes him and orphans - something that represents him believing in the kids' future, but that's still in the corrupt place Gotham is.

Once again I’m majorly impressed. Will definitely be checking out your Minecraft content. One thing that I thought would actually be a really cool to add to your city though since it was never in the base game is Wayne manor. It feels criminal not to add it. Maybe you could even eventually implement lower levels to the city like bat-caves, Lazarus pits militia bases and just hidden areas in sewers etc just like the games, one of my favourite things about the Arkham games was discovering the maps underneath the main map. Either way keep at it your doing great and I can’t wait to see what comes next

Just found your series/channel. Your ideas on what Gotham should be both make me very happy and really intrigue me. I absolutely love this series, it genuinely pains me that there isnt more support on your channel. Nonetheless, please do not give up - I really want to see the finished product. Also, just a little advice: maybe consider putting all the building into a timelapse and do a voice over so that the videos are shorter which would help with viewer retention. I wanted to design this map in terms of what would work for a game, not necessarily real life. It also personalizes it when I come up with the map from scratch.

@@BludPanda Aye, but you could maybe use it as a starting point for another map once this project is done? No one has done a 3d version of that map. I get that it would need to be adapted, especially as all those long straight roads would be boring for gameplay.

I feel like it would be easier to do something like this in blender? In-fact, I might start modeling this city in Blender (and then we just need mods, yanno) Awesome video once again! You're doing the lord's work! Edit: Personally rather than "Olsen" I would go with "O'Neal" after legendary Batman writer and editor Dennis O'Neal. (Locations in Gotham, and comics in general get named after creators all the time: like Port Adams in yhe orihinal Arkham Knight likely being named after Neal Adams) Obviously it's your project, I just think it's cool and it's giving me ideas of my own. Keep up the good work!

@@BludPanda I did a post-apocalyptic city for a project, once- it was pretty simplified, so I get your meaning; Though most of the buildings in Arkham Knight are probably not as complicated as they look. I would hazard a guess that they are using shaders, bump and texture maps, etc to "complicate" fairly simple geometry in a lot of places

As well designed Arkham Knights gotham is, it never really felt like a REAL city that was alive, partly because of it being evacuated. but still its structure feels random, although it’s still one of the better designed open worlds in gaming. I just wish we could get something like in The Batman that felt like a large, lived in city, but without the difficulty to get around of Gotham Knights

I have no idea how this would be added as mod, as I've never seen any environment mods for Arkham aside from changing the waypoint marker. It's sounds like a monumental process. But I assure you that if this project becomes more popular, it will go down more interesting avenues than MagicaVoxel.

Arkham knights combat may be perfect But the map and story was a big let down imo My favorite arkham gotham is the one shown in the VR game Literal perfect gotham city. And love or hate it rocksteady in map design fixed their mistake from AK in Suicide Squad. Metropolis is perfect. And I hope we get to see gotham again but done right

I prefer the arkham asylum/city gothic architecture over Knight, knights good but it doesn't feel like it fits the other games vibes, it feels too neon also I think the reason the buildings aren't too tall is for easy grappelling so I think that needs some consideration when designing it
